Oh my heart aches for you, my surgery was a bit less from your and the pain is the worst thing I have experienced! (after 9 surgeries). I can tell you I hated that I did the surgery up until 9 months and at a year it became worth it. I’m 2 years out and am as good as before. Hang in there it will get better. When at your desk get a small pillow or blanket and pro under your arm, it’s extra support and hopefully you can sit longer. They tried to give me the sleep wedge but I already had the pregnancy pillow, it just supports your whole body and I had better sleep that way. It also helped with fearing I would roll on my arm. Try a few moments of meditation, favorite smell, sound, eyes closed and some deep breaths to let go of some of the expectations. It’s hard, so hard when an arm is strapped to you all DAY! Give yourself some grace as hard as it is, you’ll get back to more art slowly. Hang in there and follow docs orders. ❤

It's great that the surgery is now behind you and even if getting back to normal is going to be a bit of a struggle, at least you're now most definitely heading in the right direction. Incidentally, at one stage you mentioned that editing is a bit of a struggle for you and you were worried that the quality of your video output would suffer because of that. Can I just say that any struggles you might have had were completely invisible - this video was fully up to the quality of the ones you produced before your surgery, so good job on that aspect! Thanks for the update on post-surgery progress and let's keep the recovery going. Take care and kind regards, Brian.

Some time during the day, turn on your favorite music as loud as you like and just jam out. No sad songs. Hopefully the endorphins you release will help you sleep. I just love your channel. You have been helping me get over my hump in life. Thank you so very much.

It's so good to see! That sucks that your surgery was a lot more extensive than thought. You are doing better than you realize, I hope you know. The first month is the hardest to get through. Your recovery will be in tiny increments that are hard to recognize until you look back to where you were and compare it to where you are. You are doing all the right things - ice and the robot chair are your job and you are doing it. I wish I could tell you what you can do to feel better, but you can only get through it. Ice helps, as do pain meds. Other than that, only time. PT won't make you feel better but it will help to restore function. On another note, your drawings look beautiful! I can't wait until you are able to put color to them. Take care, shoulder buddy!

  • @akschauer

Not going anywhere. Thank you for the update and the book recommendations! Can't wait to see the colored in outlines that you worked on. Hang in there - soft tissue damage takes an age to heal and the shoulder is a complex joint. You are doing fantastic!

Oh Amy, my dear, it is so good to see you and hear you! ❤❤ you are doing better than you think. At this point in my surgery there was no way I could have made a video and here you are. The pain becomes intense for a while, but you know it will get better at some point. I had the sling thingy for 8 weeks and used ice freely because that is what helped me, even tho I usually prefer heat on pain. Don’t worry about making videos during healing time unless it helps you, we are all gonna be here rooting for you until you heal. How about art for pain, what does your pain look like? ❤

Hi Amy I’m glad to see your recovering from your surgery, it always seems hard at first. I’ve been in and out off hospital since I was two weeks old,and I know how difficult it is. I remember when I was ten have a skin graft where they removed a amount off skin from my tummy and made that into a sausage shape and one end was attached to my tummy and the other to my left wrist. I was like that for weeks. It was difficult but has a child I just put up with it,.so dont be dispondent you will get through this. ❤❤

Hi Amy, so nice to see you. Loved the book reviews. The Copic drawing look wonderful. I love birds. That chair looks like a real torture device. It’s quite amazing what they invent for therapy. This next year will go by quickly. Remember to take extra notice of the things your kids milestones. When I was caring for my husband during his battle with cancer I let too many things slip buy without paying enough attention. Now when I try and recall those noteworthy things they are just not in the memory bank. So nice that you are making a video for us but your recovery is the most important thing.❤️😃

I was too excited when i got the notification.. now after watching.. lol. I'm so sorry sweetie. You are going thru so much but as tough as it gets, you are tougher and you'll get thru it. One day at a time. I was happy to hear that you understand you do need to do all you can to heal properly. You don't want to have issues the rest of your life. My only helpful idea is that even if you can't go out walking and exercising, go outside... sit in the sunshine, breathe in the fresh air, listen to the birds and the breeze. Close you eyes, smile and just breathe... everyday will get better. Hugs to you!!

So happy to see you, and sorry to hear surgery was more complex than planned. Hopefully by following your surgeon’s recommendations and doing your PT homework, you will see a lot of improvement. When I had my shoulder surgery, I could not art at all. Now, I am two years out and my shoulder is my best joint! I always found listening to music that I loved very relaxing. It always put me in a state of calm.

      @winterwoodsstudio  8 місяців тому +1

Well the unofficial motto for youtube seems to be "post or die" so.. it is what it is I guess! And honestly, it's not so much that Americans want to work when we're unwell, but more that we HAVE to. Our system here is pretty screwed up...for example, my husband doesn't get any paid sick leave at all at his job. All you can do is make the best of a hard situation... thank for watching and for the well wishes!

Hullo Amy, I feel for ya and I want to encourage you to take your time and follow the DR.'s directions! I have been through re-hab a few times and the best results come when the patients follow instructions! It is important to stretch yourself but going overboard to "hurry" your recovery is foolish. Before I swore off Dan Smith products I did get their dot sheets and the Schmincke sheets look very similar, I could not get enough paint to make a regular swatch on watercolor paper, so I just smeared the dot on the sheets shipped to me. Since you live in the US I cannot recommend DaVinci Paints of California enough! I truly feel they are one of the BEST paint companies in the USA! I have sent several sample set samples to others and the DaVinci sample sets are quite generous too! I like the fact they are sent in a better sample palettes, kind of like egg crate material with mini wells. Be sure to check out their website. Yes, I have tried all of the major brands and even several of the boutique brands of watercolors. For Quality, Price and Customer Service DaVinci just can not be beat! Please take your time and pace yourself.

Give yourself grace. Maybe some deep breathing and meditation, sometimes you just have to give into the healing process, and force yourself to rest. You need to make sure and protect the work that the surgeon did, so you don’t ever have to do this again. Let your family take care of you. Hope you’re feeling better and sleeping better soon.

You look great! I know that this is a struggle especially emotionally. I am almost 54 years old and 2 years ago this past December I stepped off of the curb at a local convenience store and my leg went left and my foot went right my immediate thought was okay I broke my first bone. I was close, I completely shattered my ankle and cracked the inner ankle and broke both bones in the leg. They had to do immediate reconstructive surgery the following morning. Show a titanium rod 9 pins and two screws later I wasn't sure how this was going to go and neither were they. I already had extensive mobility and other health issues. For me it was a very long recovery because of my age and because of the underlying medical factors as well as a rather rare bone disorder that I didn't know I had until I broke the bones. It's called osteocalciumia and apparently as I get older my bones are becoming softer and softer. It's been a long recovery but I can walk again and nobody was sure that that was really going to work out as well as I wanted. My point is that I know you can do this and I know that you can get through this all because you are a strong and determined woman. My prayers and good thoughts are still with you. This was a lovely video and anything that you can bring us is wonderful and greatly appreciated.

It appears to me that you are doing a lot of work I suggest that you make a list of all your doing in a day and give yourself credit . I listen to podcast when I was trying to heal. I did guided meditation on UA-cam and on podcast. I made a gratitude list everyday for what I can do .If you have a little place outside with a chair where you could set and get fresh air and listen to the birds.I love looking at the trees without leaves you can see what graceful bones they have I listen to some soothing music on my headphone when I couldn't sleep at night. I almost wore the floors out in my house because I did a walking route around the house. I never know they made a robotic chair have you or family given it a name? Maybe you could have a contest for naming your chair and your family could vote on what they liked best. Just a thought👓 PS love the crow art work

Chair exercises might help. Check out UA-cam for ideas. You can also get a pedal device that sits on the floor. Exercise is super important when healing. It combats depression.

The chair workouts are effective. The crunches work more than abs. You’ll feel it in thighs. The stretch bands also great.

You probably have already read this books, but they are the best books I have read. The outlander series is awesome. It is fantasy based historical fiction / romance. The book is always beings shift back and forth between romance and literature. It is by Diana Gabaldon. An other series I like is “The Prince or Ireland” by Edward Rutherford. Again it is fictional history book about Ireland. Maeve Bunche has wonderful books. She wrote circle of friends and many others. Two other Irish writers I love are Bernard Carrol and Peter Sheridan. They will always make laugh so hard you pee your pants. I hope you heal incredibly fast!

Glad the surgery is behind you and prayers for continued and complete healing. What program do you like to use to draw on your I Pad ? Thank you for the books. I am always looking for new books as I listen to books to go to sleep.

I love procreate for iPad! It's so much more intuitive than any other drawing program I've tried. I use it almost exclusively now, even though I have both photoshop and clip Paint studio on my computer. it's way cheaper too! Thank you for watching and for the well wishes!

Digital art is great for when you can't do traditional media. There are lots of apps that mimic traditional media, Procreate, Infinite Painter, and ArtRage to name a few. Also maybe try working with small paintings or drawings like 5x7 or 4x6. Hang in there!

If in the near future you don’t have (art etc) content, just make a one or two minute video to let us know how you are. 🌸

Amy dear, have you heard of Dr. Joe Dispenza?
Oh and I had your surgery years ago. When I was working as a social worker I was working with 8 years old children with behavioral challenges and one day I had to break a fight and I got hurt by them and messed up my left shoulder. It was a nightmare but I fully recovered after 9 months of PT.
You will be ok and please don’t stop making art, I recently stopped painting and oh boy I am rusty but you know how much help us to calm down our fight/fly/freeze response.

Amy can you do chair yoga? I know that I have a bad neck injury and arm problems and I am able to do chair yoga as long as I don’t use my injured arm. They have apps for it. They cost but imo it’s worth it. Just a thought. I pray you heal well and quicker than expected. Gentle hugs. Also if you like darker stuff Verity by Coleen Hoover is fantastic.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a commemt, Rebecca. I appreciate it!

Amy...very glad you are home from your surgery...please...is it possible you could REPEAT...how this all happened to begin with? Was it really just a "covid vacination" ...a needle...with a vaccination in it...that went into the wrong place in your arm...and did this much damage...a tiny scringe...type needle? I find this hard to get my head around...if this is indeed correct...and I did not mix things up...in my head.
Keep strong Amy...I am thinking of you and your full recovery often...and sending you very healing wishes. love your art you have been doing on your ipad...so lovely! Janis

Is this surgery due to the injection into your shoulder joint?
