hello nina (and everyone who’s studying jp in the comments)!! i think i have a few helpful tips as someone who’s been studying the langage for thousands of hours :
- don’t focus so much on writing, languages are spoken before being written, so if you prioritize speaking first you’ll make huge progress really rapidly!
- before learning grammar, kanji etc, i recommend practicing your pronunciation and intonation because it’s the biggest factor why someone can understand you or not
- it’s just my personal opinion but i think language learning apps are a waste of time because they teach you random phrases and vocabulary in whatever order, and most of the time it’s just passive repetition
- drop the romajis as soon as possible because it only delays your progress with reading and writing
- finally there’s a lot of great free resources on UA-cam and Spotify for lessons and listening comprehension! I recommend also watching lessons in Japanese (日本語の森 or Sambon juku for example)
I practice English while watching your videos. And I’m so happy and proud that I understand almost everything without subtitles. Thank you very much for a very interesting content,Looking forward to your new videos :>
STUDY WITH NINA!! I'm not even learning Japanese, but I love watching.
Keep working hard, Ms. Nina!! You're doing great!

A small but I think helpful tip is to avoid romaji as much as possible! Reading in ひらがなとカタカナ since the moment you learn the alphabets will help you learn better and faster. Kanji is clearly a whole another story lol. I started learning 7 years ago, I recommend the marugoto books too for beginners! ニナさん、今まで、良くやってるー。頑張って!
I've been learning Japanese here and there for fun since I was in 8th grade. I'm 18 now and would say I know very basic Japanese but only because I never had the time to just sit and study the language. I was too busy with school. I understand your point about Romaji. I do. I'm starting to find it easier to just read the hiragana or katakana instead of the Romaji at this point for sure. But in the previous years where I studied in small amounts Romaji helped my pronunciation a lot. I think a lot of people say it can mess up your pronunciation and make you sound less fluent but I never had that issue. Maybe it's just me. It always helped me remember better and learn the proper way to say words faster. But I think this is only true if you know proper pronunciation first with A I E O U.
I do agree that jumping straight into just Hiragana and Katakana will make you learn faster. The less I use Romaji now the faster I learn. There's no doubt about that.
But I do think it's good to use as a very early beginner so as to not get overwhelmed with Hiragana and Katakana. As long long as you're paying attention to pronunciation that is. But then again my experience won't be the same as other people's experiences. In the end it's just my thoughts lol :)
kimono mom is really nice to watch, especially in the beginning because of Sutan
I've started learning Japanese again and I've also started using Busuu and it's really fun.

Oh nice! Thanks for making this! I just started studying Japanese again. Perfect timing. I also am praying and working harder so i can afford to go to Japan too! ❤🎉
Back to watching Nina study languages after a while🥺🥰 and for notetaking I love the app good notes, you can also use it on a MacBook and type your notes there. When you make your own handwriting into a font, you can type with your own font on the MacBook and it’s still looks like your handwriting 🫶🏻 and your bangs look so good Nina!! 🥰🩵
I’ve enjoyed using DeepL as a translator app and Falou to practice speaking Japanese. Thanks for sharing your studying process!
elena tsushima is my go-to japanese youtubers!! most of her video is in japanese so definitely check her out! im currently learning japanese as well so thank you for this video! definitely inspiring
Thank you for uploading a video like this. Since school has opened I haven't felt motivated to continue learning Japanese. My favourite Japanese Idol rn is Akina Nakamori and I know quite a few of her songs, so I sing it in Japanese. Reading lyrics have helped me read Japanese, I am getting familiar with the hiragana, not so good with katakana yet and probably 0.001% good with the kanji. Sooo yeah it is coming along, for now I think I may need a textbook but I will continue reading and memorizing the characters and practice writing them as well. This was really helpful! So thank you and I wish you and everyone else good luck on their Japanese learning journey!🌷✨
I’ve been learning Japanese bc hopefully I’ll be going to Japan in the next couple years. This was so helpful, thank you 😊
Nina I really really love your bangs. I know it's off topic but theyyy look so good on you❤❤❤

YAY team notability!! can you do a notability vs goodnotes as to why you chose notability over GN6, it is so difficult to choose now they are both subcription models and so different than they used to be
ahh this reinspired me to study harder when it comes to korean! hopefully i can add japanese to my list in the future as well >.
AAAH i missed your videos ❤❤❤
ninaaa thank you for the video i really love watching your progress! im currently learning too and im at katakana. way long to go over kanji hahah. i would love to recommend DeepL as translator besides papago. it kind of help me too. hope you are going to have a good time in japan soon!
I went to Japan this July and it was beautiful have safe travels everyone planning to go
You're beautiful ❤❤ I love your videos they're always helpful thank you so much Nina 🥰 I love you so much ❤❤
good luck nina! even if you don't speak, it would be beneficial to know basic phrases and understand what they're saying. I've been to japan twice and they never reply back in English, it's always in japanese. I never had any trouble communicating with them though as they can understand simple English phrases as well. I learned Japanese in high school and reviewed it again everytime I go back to japan. the people are very kind so you don't have to worry~
Highly appreciate the upload of Episode 28 ❤🙇
Hi Nina! I'm studying japanese too! Kanji is really confuse sometimes but with practice and memorization we can do it ^^

Nina 💛
Can you do a what’s on my iPad video
Nina I have a question!!! Do I learn grammar first or vocab....?????😭😭
hey! does anyone have any korean vlogger recommendations?
Great video and advice. Digital note-taking is great but when handwritten on an iPad or tablet and not typed because you're right, the information only retains when the notes are handwritten. It gives the notes a personal touch. Typed just feels like a boring textbook only. And these days buying notebooks is not something I'd prefer cause trees are cut and I don't like that. That being said, having an iPad and being able to write on it is a distant dream for now personally because I can only afford notebooks but yes I'm going to go digital in the future for sure.
cool
what's the app again? the one you showed us in the video. I couldnt find it in the app store
🎉🎉
がんばれ〜👍
