    A small note from me... jazmine :)
    Hi everyone, I hope you are keeping well. I've realised that my stroke order is wrong with Hangul thanks to your very helpful comments, and it was my mistake.😊 By learning Japanese for 5 years and doing it as a Major, I understand how important it is to learn stroke order with Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. You would be so surprised that I still write some hiragana wrong after all of these years😭! Learning Languages is my NO.1 hobby (after coffee and moccas), and I know how slow but greatly rewarding the process is. (And yes I realise that I won't be good at Korean for at least 1 year lol) And of course I always strive to show you my real and honest learning process. It's not perfect, neither is it the right way for everyone, but I'm here to boost your motivation which in turn boosts mine 😆... and that's why I keep making videos! Thank you for always supporting me and see you in the next video 💕
    Love,
    Jazmine

      I think that's no such a thing as "writing wrong". At the end of the day if you can still manage to write the character in a way you and people who's gonna read can identify them it is ok! The strokes order makes them easier to write (mostly cause people used to write with brushes back then) and I think it's cool for us learner to know them (i think it's respectful toward the culture) but you don't have to feel bad about that at all also. I know I write some korean characters with the wrong order, but it works better for me (maybe cause I'm already used to the japanese order lol). I love your videos, they keep me motivated for my own studies :)

      for korean, if you havent already i recommend you learn bat-chim, it will save you so much time on pronunciation in the long run, if you are wondering where to learn the bat-chim rules i used koreanclass101. btw you handwriting is so pretty, theres a video on youtube i watched on how to make your handwriting more native. and lastly hello fellow left handed person XD

    some topics for the beginner:
    * learn 한글 (ABc and its pronunciation) first. don’t rely on romanization.
    * use grid paper, so your letters’ll be more accurate and beautiful (same size tho)
    * it’s true that as a beginner you should learn a right way to write 한글, it won’t matter later when you’ll write faster and in your own way, but to gain that you better write correctly at first.

    I’m so excited that you’re starting Korean. It’s such an amazing language. I have a lot of resources for you :))
    - Translators: I highly recommend Naver Dictionary online and Papago (it is a more accurate translator than Google. Good for Asian languages)
    - I’ve seen this elsewhere on here but I highly discourage the use of romanization. It’s not that accurate and it will mess with you a lot :))
    - Talk to Me in 100% Korean for full immersive listening. If you pair it with their english yt channel it is good for cross translation!
    - Viki (kdramas) is good for Korean learning because they have a Learn Mode and a built in dictionary!
    - Audio Clip and KBS Radio Theater is good for listening too. KBS R.T also has a transcript for every single episode! For beginner listening material I recommend the kid’s show Hello Jadoo and Talk To Me In Korean’s Iyagi (online and podcast). Hope this helps anyone who reads it!
    Also about the ㅎ sound, I recommend the first method with the first stroke up vertically. It is a lot easier to write it that way :D

    Good luck with learning korean!! For the handwriting I really recommend you watch lindie botes video "How to write Hangul like a native" it's an old one but I feel like she goes through some good points of writing more naturally. When I was learning hangul I also used the book become a hangul master from talktomeinkorean and they have some exercises about recognizing native's writing and developing your own handwriting, and it also goes through all the hangul rules of pronunciation so I really recommend it

    Don't use romanization just learn hangeul first

    • @ron_peasley
      @ron_peasley 3 роки тому +20

      i agree
      i used romanizations before i started learning korean and it kinda helps for new learners, but learning the korean alphabet and dropping romanization as soon as possible will help out a lot in the long run. i learned the alphabet in less than a day so it is easily doable!
      also, words like 맛 can be easily misread as "mas" due to the romanization. using a "t" there would be inaccurate because of ㄷ and ㅌ, but an "s" there may cause confusion. so it is best to learn the korean alphabet and 받침 (letter pronunciation rules) very early on!

    • @yoonlesb6348

    Nice video:) I would say thoug, when learning japanese, espacially reading japanese - cover romaji completly and also the furigana! romaji totally kills pronounciation. And when you have a lot of furigana we tend to read them instead of trying to actually read the kanji! so of course, if it's a new word that you don't know it's great to have them, but I think depending too much on them on kanji you will have to learn soon anyway might be counterproductive^^ but keep it up! Learning multiple languages at once is quite a challenge! So watching your videos is very inspiring:)

    One tip that I reccomend you is write down using both hiragana and katakana as I made when I was at first steps. PS.SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH BUT I'M NOT NATIVE SPEAKER . But I think it's so important know both of them. Believe me!

    Uh, I am a bilingual Korean-American and I think that ㅎ is easier written with the two horizontal lines compared to the horizontal and the vertical. Of course, both of these are correct, but I just prefer the latter because it’s easier to write when you write it quickly!
    Edit: by the way I love your videos!

    what a lovely video, jazmine! i loved it 💕
    i want to start learning japanese and i'd like to ask: when you were first learning to write the kanas, did you use grid/boxed writing paper? the one where instead of lines there are squares divided in 4 quarters? or did you use regular blank or lined paper?
    i'm aware that kind of paper exists, but i don't really have access to it. i was considering buying the dotted paper and making a notebook out of it, but it's kind of expensive for me atm.
    would you say it's ok if i learn using regular blank paper, or is it important to use the graph paper?

    • @mayacold8263
      @mayacold8263 3 роки тому +1

      Hello! I finished learning kana 3 years ago, so maybe I can share a bit on this. From my experiences, I did not have any papers/notebooks with dotted or box grid, nor was I able to easily take an A4 from my dad’s office so I used my school’s basic lined rule notebook. Some time later, only once in my life, I was given a small page of my Chinese friend’s 2x2 grid papers (the ones where each box is divided to four smaller sections) and most used by people new to kanji in Chinese/Japanese schools. My take: it’s best to start with grid rule since it will make learning the proportions of the characters easier. If you use a lined rule or blank, you would wanna work harder in practising the proportions, but if you’re consistent enough, it’s possible nonetheless! The grid paper given to me was only limited, so I ended up having to use lined rule and blank for both kana and still using it this time to learn kanji 😂💦🙏🏻 it’s a lot of effort, but it doesn’t cause much inconvenience. So that’s that! It’s up to you now ✨✨ good luck!!

      @orlanswf 3 роки тому +1

      @@mayacold8263 alright, thanks for your comment! all I have is regular blank A4 paper, so I'll see how it goes. Maybe I'll draw a boxed grid myself in my notebook to start practicing the strokes and proportions.

      @@jeremyanneredondo8103 I use a genki workbook PDF online but I have a genki textbook 📕 irl. I only use the PDF for kanji because it’s an insufficient way to learn a language. I used bunpo which helped to learn all my kana but I used an app called Learn Japanese! To memorize it. Right now I’m learning loads of Kanji by using Anki and I’m learning vocabulary with Duolingo and UA-cam videos pretty much anything I see. Although I don’t recommend duolingo if you haven’t finished all your kana it’s bad for that. I use Lingo Deer to learn sentences and stuff. I use a channel ua-cam.com/channels/IciBLpZ6BP2XNYTFXb6eRQ.html to immerge myself into listening and stuff. I’ve already learned conjugation so I collect loads of verbs so I can practice conjugation. I also use Hello Talk to meet people who are Japanese and learning English or also learning Japanese. That pretty much sums it up.
