As the person who keeps combing, its because I don't know what that card(s) in your hand, facedown, or graveyard can do, so I'm stacking up as much as possible in case you can stop me. But yeah, I feel you.
Tbf it’s because unless you have no cards in field or in hand, people are playing around possible hand traps or turnaround cards that could cost them the win. Comboing to set up a negate before pushing for game is standard practice in competitive yugioh

That happened to my opponent once. He activated Maxx C and then chained ash blossom his own Maxx C. The difference is, he immediately surrendered after that.

Sometimes i do, depending on the deck, but sadly you dont know WHAT deck youre gonna fight next in the game, so you can prep for that card, only for your opponent to run something else that wipes backrows you know? So while i agree a counter trap can help, its not practical half the time
Got negated 5 times on my first turn going second by an opponent with HoU and appolousa. I had 0 cards left, he still had all his monsters on the field and 4 cards in his hand. Super fair
"Why would anyone complain about how long animations are, when your opponent takes 10-20 seconds to play each individual card!?" This is something I say quite often.
For me, it's the pass turn comboers where you think their turn is just about over and then it suddenly asks you if you want to continue with your main phase because it never even made it out of your turn yet.
I made it to Plat 5 & accepted that I will never play tier 0. I wish I could just max at Gold 1. Lol. *im not crying* EDIT: it’s not hard, I just don’t wanna alter my hero deck that drastically, just to complete at that level. What fun is YGO if you can’t play the cards you want to play?

Yeah... Clicking through with impatience has gotten me a few times. On the other hand, it has actually been good to sometimes do so. I've been forced to come back in interesting ways I never thought of using certain cards in the deck before which provided me with new lines to think of when playing in general. In the moment I may have seemed like a complete idiot but I'm okay with happy accidents leading to me being a better pilot of the deck.
Yeah one time I activated power bond to make chimeratech rampage dragon and attack for game but I had to use cyber dragon infinity because it was one of only 2 monsters I had out so I thought I was selecting infinity as a material turns out I negated my own power bond lol.
The only reason I give up matches is this. Might be lucky and return next turn, but they are summoning up to 30k+ ATK and I have an open board. I know flexing, but dude... we both could have played another match in that turn alone
"Just attack already" has been me a lot. I've had an empty board and one card in hand they KNOW isn't good from me searching. The man spent 5 mins summoning and chaining effects when he had game on board already.
There's a time when I got bricked three times in a row but win all of them because for some reason the enemy surender before my turn. I'm like did the enemy brick as well in three times in a row? 🤣
All of these are so true. Especially when your opponent surrenders. Like this always happen to me where I am not even halfway done with my Earth Machines combo and they surrender.
Mine is “ wait wait I should be able to activate my card in response, what’s going on? Oh we are just doing the cost of activation, I see now.” Happens nearly every game.
I think that last one and the "Just one more duel till plat." ones apply to all online games with a ranked system. Plus the "extremely long turn that gives you time to do literally anything else IRL" scenario actually happened to a Nijisanji EN member, Rosemi, on stream. I just thought that was funny, realistic, and relatable👍✌.

I’m at the point where if I see drytron or virtual world, and I didn’t win the coin flip, or didn’t start the game with ash, ghost bell, imperm, and droplet in my starting hand, I surrender. Plat is literally you go first or you lose.
Worst part of climb is seeing the same soulless non think meta decks reaching for the exact same extra deck. It's sooo bad. IRL ygo would have me burning buildings down.

literally the first one is so relatable haha. after coming back to yugioh after years and learning all this new stuff (links, xyz etc) I accidentally ashed myself in a duel thinking it was doing it to the other player.
I had a similar experience against Tri-Brigade. I thought I was activating my Borreload Dragon's steal effect when attacking Shuraig but I had used the debuff effect instead. Lost out on 500 damage and a misread on whether or not Shuraig targets.
I've contemplated making a smurf account where I only play non meta stuff in lower tiers to avoid meta slaves but I really wish they had a casual mode so I didn't have too. Some of the most fun I've had in master duel is just playing against my brother with the structure decks you get from solos.
Yeah they need to make a non ranked queue. The duel room is not a good alternative. Everytime I join a room I have to wait several minutes only for them to not start the duel. Then I make my own room and find out why nobody ever starts duels it's because they get bored of waiting and go afk after waiting for several minutes for someone to join. A queue system like they have for ranked would be a lot quicker and easier.
@@cookieaddict5956 xP there are 50 gems a day for winning twice in event duels , so even casual events will have a bunch of people trying to go 2 for 2 with the best decks , duel rooms are the only space likely to see less of that

I always took for granted Konami banning maxx "c". That was until I started playing master duel and realised how unfair that card is. Either option means you just straight up lose the duel
I don't mind it actually but I get your point, I had to add droll and lock bird on decks with low synergy just to have something in case I didn't draw an ash blossom...

Ikr...some decks take centuries to do their combo...admatic(ok idk how to spell but it's those rock monsters)then there's...Try hard bridge (u know the name hehe) and ofc....drytrons that make u fall asleep
one i personally use a lot is "if i dont get to play, you dont get to play" which is generally what i say right before surrendering when my opponenets turn goes longer than 5 minutes
I remember when the maxx c challenge was actually fun because there was legit a chance that you could deck ur opponent out. Nowadays people be main boarding nibirus to draw into off of the card
Honestly the thing i have said to myself the most is "I think ill go play Duelist of the Roses after this" because i love that game and its a nice break from the current state. Hope they add some other modes soon.
I like that some of the older YGO games are super different from the TCG. Some aren't even really card games, but experiencing YGO in a different way after going match after match vs meta 'out my board' decks is really refreshing.
I would like to see master duel run a week long campaign where hand traps and staples like solemn judgement all gets limited. Just to see how it would change things that week

If eldlich himself was easier to beat over, than maybe it wouldn’t be so unfun to play against. Don’t even get me started on how we have to out the guy every time we get rid of him: it’s just not that fun to play against.
I remember breaking someone's Exodia deck with my Toon Deck. Didn't know what he was playing but he tried drawing a lot so I used Toon Rollback to make Toon Gemini Elf hit twice and discard 2 Exodia pieces. He was using Reckless Greed so he couldn't draw for 2 turns and I just finished him off before he could draw anymore cards.
Fun fact I saw another toon versus exodia match on the spectate mode. Tools also won that. I stg the amount of nonsense I see there will never get old. I saw ancient gear otk a zoo tri deck that ended on apo drident revolt. The guy chained drident on lightning storm when it called monster, then revolted on the train quick play banishing one monster instead of waiting for one of the fusions. Legit made me a little mad.

I stopped playing sometime after the the DM support came out in 2016. Heard Master Duels was free and wanted to see if I could make my IRL DM deck in it (I couldn't in duel links, so I never gave it a shot). Found your guys' channel afterwards and have been having a blast watching your videos!
magician soul, soul servant + the new ritual monster that discards from hand to search stuff that is going to release to master duel later this year are all really good for that deck, 3 Skill Drain/3 Solemn Judgment/2 Dark Sacrifice also really help the deck in MD compared to how it was in tcg 16'
@@Marcusjnmc Magi Souls and Servant are already in, and they're amazing. I don't run the other 3 cause I'm running a "pure" DM deck. It gets wrecked by meta decks, but I'm happy running only cards related to my favorite monster.
@@ecanoya Dark Sacrifice was Dark Magician support from before the new Soul cards released, it sends Magician Rod to grave to protect Eternal Soul , & the others are generics similar to Monster Reborn, Solemn cards don't belong to any archetype but they're typically used with Dark Magician to help protect the spells & traps.
@@Marcusjnmc Sacrifice Works well with DM, but I don't think it's specifically DM support, since it doesn't have anything related to the DM in it's art or text. I'm not even running generics. If it doesn't directly reference Dark Magician in it's art, effect, or name (like Dark Magic Veil) I'm not running it. It may not be optimal, but I have fun with it.
@@ecanoya well, best of luck then, it's a shame Dragoon is banned, Dark Magician the Dragon Knight & Eternal Soul can sort of protect eachother but it doesn't take too much to get through them.

@@catsmoking6485 I've seen Plat1 skill drain beatdown deck , literally normal summoning Beast King Barbaros , anything can plat 1 with enough good cards/that's built well enough, it's not like Duel Links KOG you don't need 5 wins in a row, even 10 wins 9 losses can get you there if played enough , even if it does take hundreds of games
I have played these master duel type of games for years so I have to endure the pain of accidently negating my own effect and being attacked by the game asking me if I want to use an effect every time I make a move.
I saw someone just pulling time in attempt to get me bored and just move on. I just gone to make myself some snack, came back to my turn and he did nothing... I just started eating while doing nothing until I wanted the rewards and bonked h... The MF surrendered.
@@Alik_Odess There was one time someone activated a card that required me to choose a card from my hand. I didn't see the prompt and just thought he was stalling to make me leave, so I waited the ENITRE timer until it hit zero. I wondered why nothing happened and then I saw the drop-down arrow and was like "Oh wait I was supposed to do something?", I selected my card and then he instantly lost because the timer had resumed to 0 on his turn. I felt so bad, i basically did the most toxic move possible on accident and made him lose. I can't believe you're allowed to do that.
If you're thinking of a seperate rank mode for casual play, then I don't think that's a good idea, business and play-wise. Players wouldn't be incentivise to build meta decks anymore because of UR and gems usage when I could just built a casual deck full of rares/normals instead and still top the casual ranks. Plus, there are always the "best" decks that will emerge in every tournaments regardless of restrictions that everyone will be playing. You might not be facing a Drytron or Eldlich in casual mode but you'll for sure still be facing the "best" decks for that mode that are as toxic as them if not worse. Reason why the meta in Master Duel is different than the Duel Links or TCG's meta is different than OCG's on that matter but they're still as cancerous as they come.
Late reply but just my 2 cents; I don't believe adding a casual mode would stop people from playing meta decks. Hearthstone has an unranked, nothing to lose, casual mode yet you will still face a ton of meta decks. I am guilty of this as well since I tend to use casual mode to practice with a new deck.
Honestly, I at least wish they would make it so me and my friends can use Dragoon and the other forbidden cards in Duel Rooms. I’m honestly kinda shocked you can run 3 Maxx-Cs but not one Dragoon.

Me, whose trying to deal 8,000 points of damage in one attack: stop surrendering! I only had to special summon once! EDIT: If anyone is curious, the most consistent way I've managed to do this is with cyber dragon. technically, arc rebellion is more consistent, but way more fragile.
@@Nemissis4265 I've always played RDA, supernova is my boy but I play the resonator engine, I've recently tried to hybrid a stardust extra deck with supernova, abyss king calamity etc, which engine is better junks/synchron or resonator and red rising, soon as you use red rising your basically stopping any stardust summons so like unsure how to go about it, turn one I wanna get a consistent way of getting supernova and shooting quasar

Several times I've Ashed my own prank kids rocksies when I was trying to banish the Ash for rocksies effect. It's so painful.

Test my deck on ygo omega, hands that combo every time

All of these are so true. Especially when your opponent surrenders. Like this always happen to me where I am not even halfway done with my Earth Machines combo and they surrender.

I think that last one and the "Just one more duel till plat." ones apply to all online games with a ranked system. Plus the "extremely long turn that gives you time to do literally anything else IRL" scenario actually happened to a Nijisanji EN member, Rosemi, on stream. I just thought that was funny, realistic, and relatable👍✌.

I’m at the point where if I see drytron or virtual world, and I didn’t win the coin flip, or didn’t start the game with ash, ghost bell, imperm, and droplet in my starting hand, I surrender. Plat is literally you go first or you lose.

literally the first one is so relatable haha. after coming back to yugioh after years and learning all this new stuff (links, xyz etc) I accidentally ashed myself in a duel thinking it was doing it to the other player.
I had a similar experience against Tri-Brigade. I thought I was activating my Borreload Dragon's steal effect when attacking Shuraig but I had used the debuff effect instead. Lost out on 500 damage and a misread on whether or not Shuraig targets.
I've contemplated making a smurf account where I only play non meta stuff in lower tiers to avoid meta slaves but I really wish they had a casual mode so I didn't have too. Some of the most fun I've had in master duel is just playing against my brother with the structure decks you get from solos.
Yeah they need to make a non ranked queue. The duel room is not a good alternative. Everytime I join a room I have to wait several minutes only for them to not start the duel. Then I make my own room and find out why nobody ever starts duels it's because they get bored of waiting and go afk after waiting for several minutes for someone to join. A queue system like they have for ranked would be a lot quicker and easier.
Until meta people infect casual looking for completely meaningless wins :/
@@cookieaddict5956 xP there are 50 gems a day for winning twice in event duels , so even casual events will have a bunch of people trying to go 2 for 2 with the best decks , duel rooms are the only space likely to see less of that
@@Marcusjnmc who knows if casual will even give any rewards, it sure doesn't in duel links. Except for maybe the obvious xp for just dueling, it sure doesn't in duel links. Plus don't you think it would be pointless if casual had the same problems as ranked.

I always took for granted Konami banning maxx "c". That was until I started playing master duel and realised how unfair that card is. Either option means you just straight up lose the duel

I like that some of the older YGO games are super different from the TCG. Some aren't even really card games, but experiencing YGO in a different way after going match after match vs meta 'out my board' decks is really refreshing.

I remember breaking someone's Exodia deck with my Toon Deck.
Didn't know what he was playing but he tried drawing a lot so I used Toon Rollback to make Toon Gemini Elf hit twice and discard 2 Exodia pieces.
He was using Reckless Greed so he couldn't draw for 2 turns and I just finished him off before he could draw anymore cards.
Fun fact I saw another toon versus exodia match on the spectate mode. Tools also won that. I stg the amount of nonsense I see there will never get old. I saw ancient gear otk a zoo tri deck that ended on apo drident revolt. The guy chained drident on lightning storm when it called monster, then revolted on the train quick play banishing one monster instead of waiting for one of the fusions. Legit made me a little mad.

I stopped playing sometime after the the DM support came out in 2016. Heard Master Duels was free and wanted to see if I could make my IRL DM deck in it (I couldn't in duel links, so I never gave it a shot). Found your guys' channel afterwards and have been having a blast watching your videos!
magician soul, soul servant + the new ritual monster that discards from hand to search stuff that is going to release to master duel later this year are all really good for that deck, 3 Skill Drain/3 Solemn Judgment/2 Dark Sacrifice also really help the deck in MD compared to how it was in tcg 16'
@@Marcusjnmc Magi Souls and Servant are already in, and they're amazing. I don't run the other 3 cause I'm running a "pure" DM deck. It gets wrecked by meta decks, but I'm happy running only cards related to my favorite monster.
@@ecanoya Dark Sacrifice was Dark Magician support from before the new Soul cards released, it sends Magician Rod to grave to protect Eternal Soul , & the others are generics similar to Monster Reborn, Solemn cards don't belong to any archetype but they're typically used with Dark Magician to help protect the spells & traps.
@@Marcusjnmc Sacrifice Works well with DM, but I don't think it's specifically DM support, since it doesn't have anything related to the DM in it's art or text. I'm not even running generics. If it doesn't directly reference Dark Magician in it's art, effect, or name (like Dark Magic Veil) I'm not running it.
It may not be optimal, but I have fun with it.
@@ecanoya well, best of luck then, it's a shame Dragoon is banned, Dark Magician the Dragon Knight & Eternal Soul can sort of protect eachother but it doesn't take too much to get through them.
I enjoyed the small detail that each was on a different platform that Master Duels is on Xbox/PS/PC/and Mobile.

you can hit plat with almost ANY deck but keep dreaming if you want to hit plat 1 with a non meta one

@@catsmoking6485 I've seen Plat1 skill drain beatdown deck , literally normal summoning Beast King Barbaros , anything can plat 1 with enough good cards/that's built well enough, it's not like Duel Links KOG you don't need 5 wins in a row, even 10 wins 9 losses can get you there if played enough , even if it does take hundreds of games

"Why can't I undo?" is definitely something I've said multiple times. There are so many prompts, it's super easy to accidentally accept the wrong one.
I have played these master duel type of games for years so I have to endure the pain of accidently negating my own effect and being attacked by the game asking me if I want to use an effect every time I make a move.

I saw someone just pulling time in attempt to get me bored and just move on. I just gone to make myself some snack, came back to my turn and he did nothing... I just started eating while doing nothing until I wanted the rewards and bonked h... The MF surrendered.
@@Alik_Odess There was one time someone activated a card that required me to choose a card from my hand. I didn't see the prompt and just thought he was stalling to make me leave, so I waited the ENITRE timer until it hit zero. I wondered why nothing happened and then I saw the drop-down arrow and was like "Oh wait I was supposed to do something?", I selected my card and then he instantly lost because the timer had resumed to 0 on his turn. I felt so bad, i basically did the most toxic move possible on accident and made him lose. I can't believe you're allowed to do that.

Honestly I feel like the best fix would be to add a casual mode where you can use non meta decks without being stomped.
If you're thinking of a seperate rank mode for casual play, then I don't think that's a good idea, business and play-wise. Players wouldn't be incentivise to build meta decks anymore because of UR and gems usage when I could just built a casual deck full of rares/normals instead and still top the casual ranks.
Plus, there are always the "best" decks that will emerge in every tournaments regardless of restrictions that everyone will be playing. You might not be facing a Drytron or Eldlich in casual mode but you'll for sure still be facing the "best" decks for that mode that are as toxic as them if not worse. Reason why the meta in Master Duel is different than the Duel Links or TCG's meta is different than OCG's on that matter but they're still as cancerous as they come.
Late reply but just my 2 cents; I don't believe adding a casual mode would stop people from playing meta decks. Hearthstone has an unranked, nothing to lose, casual mode yet you will still face a ton of meta decks. I am guilty of this as well since I tend to use casual mode to practice with a new deck.
I went up against an Exodia deck, and I didn't even get a single turn, they went first and they finished me in their first turn. RIP Raidraptors
Honestly, I at least wish they would make it so me and my friends can use Dragoon and the other forbidden cards in Duel Rooms. I’m honestly kinda shocked you can run 3 Maxx-Cs but not one Dragoon.
Dragoon is a lot stronger in a format with 3 Maxx C, since it's the strongest thing you can do with only 1 special summon

EDIT: If anyone is curious, the most consistent way I've managed to do this is with cyber dragon. technically, arc rebellion is more consistent, but way more fragile.

@@Nemissis4265 I've always played RDA, supernova is my boy but I play the resonator engine, I've recently tried to hybrid a stardust extra deck with supernova, abyss king calamity etc, which engine is better junks/synchron or resonator and red rising, soon as you use red rising your basically stopping any stardust summons so like unsure how to go about it, turn one I wanna get a consistent way of getting supernova and shooting quasar
