I'd have to look and see where they placed this year, but given the trajectory of DCI, the insane disire for the glitzy, I doubt the beauty of this show was appreciated by the judges.
As an alumna (2015, 2016; color guard), I would have to disagree. The following year was Swan Lake, a fantasy fiction featuring themes of death and romance. 2015, City of Light, did not have death and it is considered by many as "campy", however if you look at the ballad and the end of part 3/the drum break, there is romance. Hope you have a way to see it :)
