I 100% love this game. I got lost in a cave for about maybe an hour? Warrior is EVERYTHING I wanted it to be. Can't wait to gear up and level more vocations.
I got into battahl way way waaaay earlier than I should've, and it's quite a hilarious journey, too. I wanted to get to melve for a quest, so I went to an oxcart station, but my dumb ass thought there was only one oxcart station and the carts cycled their destinations, and I skipped through a few days at the border rest town station before getting frustrated, and apparently the only thing that made sense for me to do was to board the oxcart. So I ended up at the rest town, did the wolf quest and the orb quest, then started wondering how I was supposed to get through the border, because obviously that was the next course of action. I noticed in the time I was there that there was a really high class carriage that slowly lumbered through the checkpoint, and when I was going up to the checkpoint to figure out a way through, I noticed that it was completely empty. Soooo I hopped in. The guy driving yelled at me to get off, but he didn't stop the carriage, so I stayed on, aaaand I watched as it passed right through the checkpoint with no issue. Even got an achievement for it. Then I jumped out of the carriage at the other end and immediately aggro'd every battahl guard on the other side lmao. Incidentally, I couldn't go all the way to the excavation site cuz there was a big ass door that I assume can only be opened through story progression, and whatever the quest was wasn't starting for me, so I ferrystoned back to vermund and found the second oxcart station

I totally agree about the movement feeling a bit loose compared to the first game, takes awhile to get used to but so far the game is gorgeous and really fun. One of my gripes is the music, so far it hasn't been nearly as memorable as dd1 i miss the warm feeling you'd get from Cassardis or the title track THE WIND IS PUSHING MEEEEEE
@@theobell2002 on the other hand, I appreciate the lack of automatic roll when landing a sprint jump, that often caused me to roll off the tiny platform I was trying to land on. The movement is the biggest change for me, there is so much more momentum that you have to be pretty precise instead of just flying around like a beyblade
i LOVE the gouging skewer skill for fighter. You can activate that skill when you are grappled onto enemies with it, i used it to kill a drake last night and just went to town on its heart
I thought the same about movement. The story is also very free, allowing exploration, but also feels a little less hand holdy, which is nice but also make s you feel like you are walking aimlessly. I also miss Bitterblack Isle immensely cause I like fighting 24/7. But man...to have Warrior be a power house feels nice. There is also utility in all moves, like Ice spells leaving behind ice rocks to throw.
Dude, I miss BBI also, but this game still ends up throwing fight after fight at you in between relative periods of downtime. Sometimes it feels like I actually have to hunt out peaceful places just to get a break from how insane the onslaught can get sometimes. 😆
They'll grind the same tired heist for an entire day to buy a car, but DD2's untouchable because it sells some random item for $1.99 that you can get from a 10 minute hike in the woods lmao
its interesting people dont focus on the fact that more people are complaining about the whole it runs like shit thing but yall dont wanna hear that valid complaint would shatter your world view
@@adamdoran1398 Everyone knows that the performance is bad and it needs further optimization. Capcom even issued a statement and said they will fix it. No one is ignoring anything. It's just that you guys want to complain just for the sake of complaining. It's not constructive.

After the long wait, I can currently say from playing the game that I am really pleased and happy with how the DD2 turned out (may very well become my favorite RPG up to this point). While it currently runs worse then my sporadically thrown-together skyrim-modlist of 400+ mods (oof), if they fix this (and as fast as possible) Capcom may very well have a real classic on their hands here, and one that may elevate the franchise into a staple within its scene. Either way, have fun with the game (it is well deserved).
@@ofnir123 Great for whales. Shit like this why the gaming industry is turning into garbage. For a 70 dollar single player game those MTX should be free cheat codes. Enjoy paying out the ass my dude

@@starjun8144no they didn’t. Quit lying. World DID launch with all of these and its performance issues at launch were WORSE than ds2’s. Everybody who has played the game knows how wrong you are about the MTX’S, your misinformation doesn’t work here.
Dragons Dogma 2 is my first experience with the series and I completely lost myself in this world. Been RP walking the whole game so far and its just so immersive and beautiful.
Huh. If I'm not mistaken, for me the requirement to get the master fighter skill was different. I just had to make a delivery from Wernworth's ox guy. Lennart also gave it to me before I even was fighter lvl 10. Maybe it just depends on his disposition towards you?
This game is just too damn fun. Playing Warrior has proven to be extremely fun, and this is coming from a guy who's more into the magick side of combat. If you haven't yet, you're going to love it, the way of the BONK is now god tier.
The movement in this game is god awful. To hell with "getting used to it". I don't know how they got it right in DD:DA but then messed it up in DD2. Probably has something to do with the RE engine. I feel like I have way less control over my character.

@@Jim-Bagel My man, they are literally constantly ranting about how you HAVE to buy access to fast travel and character edit. There absolutely is misinformation that is then getting further parroted by more people who cantt be bothered to do 5 minutes of research. Same with the 'there was no reason to expect microtransactions pre-launch' while capcom has had various MTX in all their recent single-player games, right at launch, and the game actively declared it on the ESRB info that 'in-app purchases' existed. They are jumping on the hate train for the sake of jumping on the hate train, and it's both disgusting and disappointing. It's a lot of raging children reeing because they can't be bothered to do ANY level of research before making up their minds.
@@jtnachos16 People hated previous capcom games for those practices too, dragons dogma is just getting the same treatment as the rest of the games like you said
@@Jim-Bagel That is an OUTRIGHT lie. None of them got this massive ragefest about MTX at launch. Not MH, not DMC, Not RE. While there were complaints, it was nowhere near as vehement or widespread as it was with DD2. The microtransaction complaints are most of the negative reviews that currently have the game in 'mixed' state and had it at mostly negative on launch day. They actually outnumber the performance complaints, from what I saw scrolling reviews on day 1 while waiting for the download to finish. That didn't happen on any of the others. By that same token, MHW didn't get railed as hard for it's crap performance at launch on PC as what DD2 is getting railed over. Nor did Iceborne get railed so vociferously when it's launch trashed the performance of the game. This is WAY worse reaction than we've seen before and I can't figure out WHY, when it is the same issues.
I only have one more rank in archer until its maxed out and i found mystic spearhand (which feels very Nero/Clive with the arm charging), and playing both has me convinced im going to max out every vocation purely because of how fun they are. I just stay up through the night so i can fight more monsters, only restimg when im capped at 30% hp. Game is so got dam good man.
Fun fact: You don't need to max the Vocation for the skill. You just need to be nice to the Meister. I have zero into fighter (Pawn is Fighter 5) and I have the skill.
The only drawback I've noticed about the shield counter is that it leaves you vulnerable for a few frames after the counter's start-up. So if you get attacked by two enemies at long enough interval, it's better to parry or hold guard.
I saw my fist ogre in this game, and got my pstd flash backs from the first game, ended up having a fun time using the air slash skill from fighter to hit his head into submission as well as actually using spell books this time instead of them collecting dust in my inventory 10/10
I 100% agree that familiarity with the first game makes it harder to adjust to this one. It's the jumping that gets me. In the first game, Striders have so much air control. I do miss that.
So funnily enough the issue isn't CPU bottlenecking. It's actually bad DLSS implementation that's causing it to use more CPU than necessary. There's even a mod that fixes it.
I am loving the Warrior Vocation in this. Wasn't the biggest fan of Warrior in the first game but damn is it fun now. Jump attacks do suck now but the return everythin else in the Warrior kit just got so much better.
It's very reassuring to hear that you have fun with the game as the only opinions that count to me is yours and Nihil's. That said I hope that DD2 is more than a good game as the first one is one of my favorite game ever. I've played it more than 2500 hours since launch and still play it today without getting tired of it. There are lots of good game but there was only one Dragon's Dogma. I hope it won't be the case anymore despite Dragon's Dogma 2.
Both games have their pros and cons. So far I'm loving everything thats been improved upon, but there are a couple of things from the first that I miss or think was done slightly better.
Feels so good to be alive rn, absolutely love what they did here. Hope enemy variety increases as i go along but otherwise its what i wanted out of a sequel
I have 18 hours into the game and I JUST go over the border. I initially thought the game got easier and after 3 hours into the border, I was wrong. Granted I switched to a different vocation from Warrior to archer to get the stamina augmented, personally archer does feel op but I wanna go unga bunga
Honestly after playing Archer, Fighter and Warrior (next Thief) every vocation is OP. Fighter can parry a minotaur into the ground, Warrior can ALSO parry with a core skill using a charged skill wich feels sick to pull off, and archer can obliterate with the dire arrow skill (its really funny seeing goblins and bandits fly around after being hit). Now I am off to see if Thief also has some OP stuff, but for now every class ive played does a perfect job at making it feel powerful.
glad its not just me having trouble adjusting to blocks and parries. its way more heavy than before i honestly thought my reaction times were worsening xD
Since I downloaded the newest AMD drivers the game runs even better for me , like even in the city 48 frames don't feel too choppy. The game has totally consumed me and my soul but I'm loving it
I like to imagine that's the same Griffin as before, it just so happens to be THE clumsiest of all griffins, the idiot of the flock. He'll be back, I can feel it.
watched your ddda stuff way back and used your build guides so super keen to see what you put out with this game blowing up. also had no idea you were a fellow aussie
I know a lot of people are adjusting to the game feel compared to DD1 and I am too, but I am SUCH a huge fan of DD2’s weight and heft. I haven’t seen a whole lot of buzz about it but THOSE PHYSICS. Physics feel like they’re always relevant and it’s a very refreshing gameplay mechanic. I had a Minotaur baseball swing me halfway across a field and it was awesome. Another time I swear my pawn killed a goblin so hard it’s body launched into me and knocked me over. DD2 really feels like an action game sandbox it’s so addicting.
When you say that you found it a bit harder to play dd2 since you played so much dd1. I'm in the inverse where i've only played a bit of the begining of Dragon's dogma 1. I have a some familariaty because of it, yet found it easy to transition to how dd2 plays. I'm still having so much fun adventuring, balancing my carry weight in my party in this long journey of mapping out the path from the begining fort to Vermund. Learning how to fight bigger monsters like Minotaur and trolls. Finally finding some gear with plenty of gold and materials. I personally found it some difficulty fighting enemies like the minotaur with how inexperienced I am in dragon's dogma gameplay, but a fun challenge i overcame! I really want to change my character models of Arisan and pawn at least after the first playthru. recreating monsters like harpies, Gorgons, and the sphinx! Yeah you could say I'm not going to stop playing anytime soon. Watching your dd2 stream each day while playing the game myself is a very fun experience!
Im absolutely loving dd2 as I put about 3kish hours across both xbox and steam version over the years. Im absolutely loving it, but my main issue is the game felt wildly easier in a lot of places. Especially if you have a sorcerer on your team as their maister skills are just busted. I however have found delight in the modding since the game still uses the same RE4 framework. So rebalancing and making enemies harder to kill post ng+ has been a treat, especially for actually working on my "endgame" gear.
@@tiquismistica9417 only thing that can go wrong is lesser dragon , dreak ( they are two separate things ) and griffon ( cuz it can runaway) if they update monsters like MH for BBI until the DLC drop it would be dope !
Pretty sure the adaptive difficulty is functioning backwards. My pawns all die and suddenly an ogre attracts a griffon which attracts 2 hobgoblin troupe, wolves, bandits and regular goblins. And then once they're all dead a minotaur spawns in just because lol
The main problem I have with vernworth is the npcs spawning in front of me when I test the moveset of a new vocation 😂😂😂 Ps. I never realized to use the shield flop like that
I am wainting 15 days to buy it for many reassons: 1, no money right now; 2, waiting for patches; 3, waiting for amazing videos that showcase the game (such as this one); 4, I will finish the game that I am playing right now before buying a new one.
So I'm a big fan of the Viking style, love playing with a wooden shield and an axe. And I was pretty upset to see that DD1 had no axles. The question is: where in Odin's name did you find these axes?! What vocation should I choose for myself or my pawn to get this asap?..

Hearing the first game's soundtrack over the footage of DD2 makes me realize how much better the first game was audio-wise.
Maybe they should add something to counter slash that rewards good timing, like more stagger or damage for a perfect block

the player characters really look fine in the character creator, but once you get them out into the world there’s ALWAYS something off. 😅
@@mkv2718 lmao can’t even deny it. My characters eyes were off I had to change them 5 hours in after I noticed the eyes were uneven and different sizes
@@zzodysseuszzthe eyes, nose and mouth settings in the creator are weird. they don’t let you choose the types individually from the basic face you choose, so if the face is good, but one eye is off, the best you can do is adjust the “squint” instead of changing the shape of the eyes in general.
it’s annoying that you can’t just choose the eyes, nose, and mouth separately from the basic face and that would be nice if they changed that. you can choose ears tho, but not the aforementioned other features… feels like an oversight

Re5 has entered the chat:
Warrior is so fucking cool when you unlock the timed attacks. It's like getting into a rhythm and all the skills are the absolute cherry on top.

The movement is really clunky.
theres some great tracks in battahl
@@theobell2002 on the other hand, I appreciate the lack of automatic roll when landing a sprint jump, that often caused me to roll off the tiny platform I was trying to land on.
The movement is the biggest change for me, there is so much more momentum that you have to be pretty precise instead of just flying around like a beyblade
@@wmidler You could prevent the roll by pressing the attack button in mid-air.
@@theobell2002 it’s not. Movements very easy and fluid.
i LOVE the gouging skewer skill for fighter.
The same people complaining about microtransactions will buy GTA 6 day one.
And they are going to pay for the money in the online mode with credit card haha
pirate it
They'll grind the same tired heist for an entire day to buy a car, but DD2's untouchable because it sells some random item for $1.99 that you can get from a 10 minute hike in the woods lmao
its interesting people dont focus on the fact that more people are complaining about the whole it runs like shit thing but yall dont wanna hear that valid complaint would shatter your world view
@@adamdoran1398 Everyone knows that the performance is bad and it needs further optimization. Capcom even issued a statement and said they will fix it. No one is ignoring anything. It's just that you guys want to complain just for the sake of complaining. It's not constructive.
Game is super fun, one of my favorite moments was outside of Vernworth, party and I were fighting an ogre and all of a sudden a freaking Griffin swoops down and kills the ogre. We then had to fight the Griffin afterwards 😅
Stumbling upon the Thief maister and the secret maister was so sick. Can't believe this game is real.
There are definitely gonna be speedrunners riding bodys to get down cliffs faster that golem was hilarious

The people complaining about micro transactions were oddly quite in MH world, Devil may cry remakes and dmc5 if memory serves. Making a edit not DMC remakes i was thinking Dmc 4.
"things that didnt happen"
people RELENTLESSLY shat on dmc5 for the red orb microtransactions, and world didnt launch with all these mtx.
Just like how CRAPcom hid these mtx from reviewers.
Funny that, isnt it.
@@starjun8144no they didn’t. Quit lying. World DID launch with all of these and its performance issues at launch were WORSE than ds2’s. Everybody who has played the game knows how wrong you are about the MTX’S, your misinformation doesn’t work here.
Most people who played dragons dogma 1 don’t play other capcom games. It is a genre crossover and it isn’t as niche as those other games.
If you go into the controls setting you can turn off the second run button as have it as just L3
Finding Thief very fun, pulled a Ceberus into a waterfall with tye rope. Formless feint and easy kill are so smooth too.
Dragons Dogma 2 is my first experience with the series and I completely lost myself in this world. Been RP walking the whole game so far and its just so immersive and beautiful.
Cringe: "A grab always beats a block"
Me, a fighting game player: *sits up and leans in* "Go on...."
Recently thought about a challenge for another playthrough: "Can you beat Dragons Dogma 2 by only throwing people/pawns at your enemies?"
Yes
The DD2 release was tragic for me, because once I installed it I found out at the lowest setting I ran the game at 8 fps, which is just horrendous.
About your turning tip.
While blocking, you can Just press B + a direction and you will Turn instantly without stopping to block
Had my first Dullahan encounter and it ended in a Draw means we exchanged some blows then he fucked off and so did i.
That’s hype

Huh. If I'm not mistaken, for me the requirement to get the master fighter skill was different. I just had to make a delivery from Wernworth's ox guy. Lennart also gave it to me before I even was fighter lvl 10. Maybe it just depends on his disposition towards you?
My only complaint is being unable to desengage from being grabbed, no more wiggling to be released
which is funny because the game tells you you can.
God this game is such a broken unfinished mess.
@@starjun8144uh you CAN tho 😂 have you not played this game? Is this bait?

This game is just too damn fun. Playing Warrior has proven to be extremely fun, and this is coming from a guy who's more into the magick side of combat. If you haven't yet, you're going to love it, the way of the BONK is now god tier.
I agree wholeheartedly! the movement feels just close enough to the first game that I don't want to adjust lol.
The movement in this game is god awful. To hell with "getting used to it". I don't know how they got it right in DD:DA but then messed it up in DD2. Probably has something to do with the RE engine. I feel like I have way less control over my character.
@@theobell2002 it’s not. Dude quit complaining about a skill issue. Took me an hour to get used to the movement and I played the first game for a solid month to prepare for this game

@@jtnachos16 People hated previous capcom games for those practices too, dragons dogma is just getting the same treatment as the rest of the games like you said
@@Jim-Bagelnah, there is people saying you CANT fast travel and change appearence without paying money, this is desinformation
How are you liking the simplified armor system? I liked how it was in the first game better for sure.
Getting outward vibes from the burnt health and camping. I love it
I only have one more rank in archer until its maxed out and i found mystic spearhand (which feels very Nero/Clive with the arm charging), and playing both has me convinced im going to max out every vocation purely because of how fun they are.
Movement will feel way more snappy at low equip load.
I saw my fist ogre in this game, and got my pstd flash backs from the first game, ended up having a fun time using the air slash skill from fighter to hit his head into submission as well as actually using spell books this time instead of them collecting dust in my inventory 10/10
Am absolutely gonna love this game.
... when i stop getting crashes every 10-15 minutes
That shouldn’t be happening.
That means it should be a relatively easy for an official fix if modders have already done it right?
It's both, and also how the game seems to handle interiors, as caves get similar framedrops to cities.
I am loving the Warrior Vocation in this. Wasn't the biggest fan of Warrior in the first game but damn is it fun now. Jump attacks do suck now but the return everythin else in the Warrior kit just got so much better.
Absolutely loving my time in DD2. Loved the first game too and had to adjust but i had a few moments where i was more immersed than anything in DD1
Added your ChonkLord to my team! I played as much as you did for now and Chonk was very nice to me
It's very reassuring to hear that you have fun with the game as the only opinions that count to me is yours and Nihil's.
I missed out on the fighter master skill because I didn't do the Saurian nest quest. Fml
Yup, that’s dragon’s dogma for ya.
Over 25 hours for me. Don’t feel even a little burnt out. Just want to keep playing all the time but I can’t 😢
This game is so damn addicting. The fighter vocation is so good, and I am leveling my warrior and archer vocations.
glad its not just me having trouble adjusting to blocks and parries. its way more heavy than before i honestly thought my reaction times were worsening xD
I'm having a blast playing this game. Is so much fun exploring a bigger world. Current 40h in and not even close to finish. 😊

It’s so fun. I love that they added class abilities. I started as Archer and then got hooked on Thief
Unfortunately my pc is not capable of running dragons dogma 2 but im glad you are having fun
watched your ddda stuff way back and used your build guides so super keen to see what you put out with this game blowing up.
also had no idea you were a fellow aussie
Hope we got DLC like Dark Arisen one day ( it's capcom so we eventually will ) and Hardmode & Endless Dungeon Urdragon etc.
Hoping the same. I’m really enjoying the game, but at some point the enemies are getting too easy

Pretty sure the adaptive difficulty is functioning backwards.
My pawns all die and suddenly an ogre attracts a griffon which attracts 2 hobgoblin troupe, wolves, bandits and regular goblins. And then once they're all dead a minotaur spawns in just because lol
The main problem I have with vernworth is the npcs spawning in front of me when I test the moveset of a new vocation 😂😂😂
Ps. I never realized to use the shield flop like that
Does anyone know where to get that chest piece she’s wearing? I’ve seen a bunch of pawns with it too 😂
Ive been having so much fun with warrior. Im so happy they did my fav vocation justice.
Where did you get that armor?
That Shadowheart looks so much like mine, given she is tall(unusual trait for Shadowheart normally!) and a fighter
That golem fall had me on the edge of my seat.
I know capcoms very poor business decisions cant go unchecked
But its nice to see a positive DD2 video, cuz so far the game is spectacular
