@Spike2276 100% this. Double Furious Rajang is wild. The reward is worth it though. Buff body is AMAZING, especially with Hammer wielders.
@@SpacePirateLord That quest made me love Rajang. I would always shy away from a proper engagement with it, but when it's just you and two roided out monkeys in an arena you just have to learn them, and that's when Rajang clicked for me. And getting my gains on made it even more worth it.

Chonk Lord will find a worthy opponent later in the game whenever they encounter a Dodogama.
Slaying this magnificent beast is strictly forbidden and must be captured instead.
Dodogama are massively overpopulated due to many hunters refusing to kill it, the Guild is just about to issue out a Slay quest rewarding Attack Decos if some hunter doesn't get on it.
On the note of weapons in Monster Hunter not having customization: some games do! Namely Generations Ultimate, and Rise. GU lets you pick from a set of styles, and Rise has special moves you can switch between, even on the fly if you set up separate saved movesets!
Sis, this is my fav game of all time so I just cannot express how happy and hype I am rn. I really hope you'll like it! And I also hope for a future collaboration between DD and MH, it would be sick!

I recommend lance. if you can get used to it, its the most aggressive weapon in the game. Pretty fun.
To further explain, theshueld blocks damage, so the idea is that you attack a monster 3 times, hop away to reset your combo, and whenever you are about to take damage, you block. This allows you to almost always be right on top of the monster.
The lance is my "ol' reliable" weapon. I like to use almost all the weapons but if I'm having trouble with a monster I bring out the lance.

While I am a Switch Axe main for life, I can not deny that the hammer is very satisfying.

World is fantastic, you'll probably enjoy it just as much as DD once you get into it, it's still the same good ol titan slayer experience!
As an Insect Glaive main, it's all about working in conjunction with your bug. You shoot it at spots and recall it to get buffs, then once you're buffed, you can just point it at monster parts so it does DPS/Status effects while you spend your time doing sick ass ground combos. (Not Air combos.) A good IG user should be a status machine.

But have you considered gun?

Air combos are extremely useful for dodging and placement. Also I love spamming the pile driver move.

World's hunting horn was peak. They should bring back the encore system and make it stronger so people don't just spin their horn.

Welcome, brethren.
Its definitely satisfying going back to fight the monsters that you struggled with at the start of the game with end game armour, weapon and decorations.
an important thing to know in MH world is that your skills change the way you play totaly. exemple, you can play turtle lance to block everything and be slow as shit, (with extra guard and guard up skills) but put an odogaron set and evade extend , then you can charge without any care for sharpness and sidestep evade anything. and marathonian and you can run for minutes like a fucking train charging.
really hyped to hopefully see a complete playthrough! Iceborne does get a bit grindy at the end, so beware!

Glad to be back, looking forward to more. I'm sure there's some esoteric stuff about DD2 i missed that I'll get to learn about through you.
a massive enjoyment boost for me in world was the iceborne dlc's new moves. like the shotgun / shrapnel move for bow and the counter-claw guard for the lance. the claw part of your slinger in general just added so much mobility and freedom as you could kinda grappel monsters whenever you like. you can soften up a part of the monster's body with it, creating a new weak spot. hitting your big finisher on that spot later just makes me coom. so satisfying.

Tip, when the flying marshmallow who’s name I won’t even attempt to spell was doing its dive attack you could see that it wasn’t running away because the eye on the minimap was red meaning it was agrod, so hence wouldn’t run away. (Also health boost seems like it might be your friend)

When I played MHW i was a insect glaive user so got really excited when you picked it up...unfortunate that you switched but it's ok! As long as you're having fun! I really love both of these games. Personally I think that if you like either already there is a high chance you will like the other, but if you look past the surface level they play completely differently of course.
I hope you will also try the more unique weapons to MH. Namely switch axe, charge blade, gunlance, and hunting horn.
World is the first time I got into Monster Hunter, tried before and couldn't get into it, now I've played loads of world and rise

Welcome back ❤. One tip i can give is if you fall on the ground. You get i-frames until you force your character to get up! So you can use your cats heals to get you topped up before you stand up again. You have to trust the cats AI though to heal you!

Surprised Chonk Lord didn't start with Charge Blade, Swaxe or Greatsword
Fun fact, but Monster Hunter and Dragon's Dogma were born from the same Capcom fantasy game project originating in 2000. Somewhere along development the decision was made to get rid of most of the fantasy elements in making Monster Hunter, which released in 2004, but the remainders of that project were eventually turned into their own game in Dragon's Dogma. In essence, Dragon's Dogma is basically retake on MonHun, which is why you can feel the similarities in gameplay concepts, but under totally different executions.
As a result there are some suspicious similarities between the franchises, which are probably not coincidental, to the extent that I personally suspect the settings might actually be connected, especially because of how MonHun treats the vague canonicity of its concept art, and because of the cosmology of Dragon's Dogma. At the very least they are *definitely* thematically and symbolically linked, even if not literally.

If you want for customisation and chosing your skills and playstyle in a weapon in Monster Hunter, the recent Rise/Sunbreak game is made by a different teams and each weapon unlocks variant of technics and base move as you progress in the game.
For example, the very ordered, very clean Greatsword moveset can become "I'm an animal, I read Berserk and I love it" (in a good way) if you chose to. Each has different pros and cons if you want to optimize your build, but you can enjoy them unoptimized and swap them on the fly. It might suit you better than World more rigid structure.
Also, Lance and Gunlance are really fun. Lance is being an annoying mosquito that can't be killed ever. Gunlance is less mobile but more boom.
I will actually subscribe the see the next monster hunter world adventure of chonklord, can't wait for the endgame monster boss playthrough, note "furious Rajang", "Raging Brachy", the most fun

I wanted to suggest that when most monsters knock you down, remain on the ground to avoid next incoming attack. Monsters tend to combo the newly arisen (pun intended).

You can climb on monsters a lot in mhw with the expansion giving you the clutch claw! Makes mhr feel naked even when you get used to wirebugs

Hoping you encounter the legendary Hunting Horn Main, rarer than most Elder Dragons. They only appear when all hope is lost and leave as soon as they finish their absolute performance. Truly mythical creatures.
I am thoroughly invested In the ark of the Chonk Lord and I hope he one day achieves his dream of regaining his lost chonk by consuming all monsters.

Makes sense. Hammer isn't too far off from warrior vocation, imo. My personal favorite weapon is the lance and shield. I just like being up close and personal with my prey.

My favorite thing to do with the hammer is the slide into jumping spin attack.

Tip for Insect glaive: Fire your kinsect from neutral position (Weapon sheathed), repeat while aiming at the spots you need to gather extracts quickly. Fire, connect, sheathe, repeat.
Oh... Palicoes can absolutely destroy monster in under 3 seconds.

Hunting Horn and Switch Axe are the most fun weapons for me. Really enjoyed my time with MHWorld
The MHW experience is never complete until you’ve fought Safi with “Into Free” blasting in the background.
If you want to get closer to the fighter experience from DD2, maybe give the charge blade a try. It's the girthy sword and board, with a big axe transformer and nuclear reactor inside it. The learning curve is more of a cliff with that thing, but it's really rewarding getting the combos and counters down with it.
I've never seen that clutch claw spin follow up with the hammer, super fucking swag

I like using all the weapons personally and I like trying every build and class in rpg's. You might like Hunting Horn, it's kinda like Hammer, but less mobile. And more about playing music for buffs, sure it shines best in co-op. But it holds its own just fine solo, it takes a little getting used to and it's good to pay attention to what kind of songs each hunting horn has. Some just buff, some are pure support, and some are a mix of the first 2 with what their songs do. And the more uniquely shaped hunting horns can play some sick tunes
I could never get into it either tbh.. it just feels like chores for the sake of chores it's not a real rpg and the world is so static, like it's not even real and nothing matters..apples and oranges to DD, but it's like MH is stardew to DD's harvest moon..
As a big Monster Hunter fan i'd love to see you do more MH videos!

While everyone has a main weapon in MH, most of us still excel in 2 or 3, so dont be scared to branch out. Switch Axe is my main, but i like HBG, and Charge Blade too and use them quite a bit. Maybe throw in a bit of gunlance in there
Your choice of weapon was the same as mine when I first started:
SnS: my default weapon for most games, but back-hop feels hard to use
Insect Glaive: looks cool, but resource management on timer cooldown? not for me
Hammer: KO bonks feels sooo good
Hammer became the easy choice for me and for the rest of the playthrough, now exploring other weapons while waiting for Wilds :)

I hated monster hunter the first time I played it 2013 or so, but much like you, giving it a second shot when World came out is what I needed. Nothing beats the feeling of slamming my preferred hunk of metal against a monster's fragile skull so I can then skin and wear them
LS would definitely suit your Fighter playstyle - it has a built in counter, and the timing is essentially Hindsight Sweep.
To be fair with Iceborne you *can* just climb any sod when you want.
If you like hammer, try hunting horn too- it’s a bonk stick that lets you heal yourself
Charge blade might be the most similar fighter. It has a similar mechanic to perfect block and has a similar feel to the attack animations
