Yeah, it's awesome. I hired a Pawn named Magnus, a warrior, and we killed some Cyclopses and Ogres together. Then I dismissed him for a higher leveled Pawn, and later found him in Battahl. It was cool.

I love the pawn system in this game. I was strolling about in DD2 when I had to do a double take at a majestic towering pawn strutting in full white garb just outside of Battahl. I had to add them to my favorites. I knew nothing of this channel but the stars aligned and youtube recommendations presented me a thumbnail with the same glorious pawn.
Dont hire pawns with Meteora or Seism if you like taking oxcarts. If a big monster ambushes the cart, 9/10 its the sorcerer who ends up destroying the cart with those two spells.

I was riding on the oxcart and was ambushed by a troll. To then mid fight have another troll come out of nowhere drop kicking the cart. To then have a griffin come slamming down. Suffice to my poor level 16 self ran out of healing supplies but was richer in experience.
Lmao thats the dd2 experience right there. Luckily, I havent had anything THAT life threatening happen. The one time I've died was due to me playing first thing in the morning half awake. Saw a broken bridge. Genuinely thought I could make the jump. I in fact could not make the jump. I hadnt saved in a while and said fuck it and used a wakestone On the bright side, falling caused me to find a cave I hadnt explored before so that was cool. But yeah, the craziest thing I had happen to me was during this one quest. I was trying to run to melve as fast as possible to rescue this kid and the universe was not in favor of me getting there in a timely manner. I dont remember what level I was but it was in the early 20s I believe. But I got attacked by wolves, goblins, saurians, harpies, ogres, minotaurs, and a cyclops along the way. Pretty much everything got in my way. And that whole journey started by me missing the oxcart by a literal second and then it not letting me on for some stupid reason no matter what I did. Returning to the city, I was definitely weary but that was the first time I felt confident in my abilities in dd2. Kinda like when I got magick archer. Decided drakes were to fear me. Then got my ass handed to me the second I actually hunted one myself. (Before that I got a drake that attacked the city down to its last health bar no problem so I got over confident) Kinda like that 😂 Now I make sure to have my special ability equipped at all times in case I run into a drake 😅
60 hours in, haven’t beaten the story yet, obsessed with filling out the world map and doing all quests, finding all maisters, getting pissed at the camera in tight corridors, playing for 12 hours and making zero progress….yeah, I’m addicted too.
It's a hate campaing. I think this game only chance is to play the "Cyberpunk card" and come back later with a (polished game) good story DLC and then be finally praised or nominated for something. It's faaar from perfect but people are overeacting on purpose.
you're exploring. that's not doing the story. the story quests are awful and their only saving grace is how quickly you can blast through them to get to the unmoored world.
I found the secret door almost immediately because an NPC walked out of it the first time I rounded the corner and went “huh, neat.” *sees achievement pop up* “oh that was meant to be hidden, lol.”

Ngl despite the flaws the game has im still having a blast with it. I love how dynamic everything feels, from encounters to the pawns chattering and showing you stuff nearby (I would have missed so many seekers token and chests on cliffs if it wasn't for pawns drawing attention to it). I had a similar experience with the griffin getting into Battahl but for me i took a long rout through the mountains near Rest Town, when i crossed the border finally a griffin swooped in and flew off while i was still on it and flew me DEEP into Battahl. I was so under geared for this area at the time, if it wasn't for spearhand i would have not made it to the city but i loved every second of it
Performance issues aside DD2 has been an experience. 70 hours in and I have loved almost every minute. Definitely will still play Dark arisen for nostalgia but man DD2 is good.
I was traveling for about 2 hours, entire party almost dead because I didn't have a camp pack thing and I don't know how to get a fast travel port for new areas, I love this game
What is your spec? My labtop is 3060 with priority cpu usage mod it run around 40-60fps outside town. But with frame gen mod it can run 60-90 fps but downside is the ui will pop up.
Same. Mine is 5 yrs old at this point so it was bound to happen. Can run BG3 pretty well but this game is so CPU-bound, I doubt it will be anything but a stuttery mess. Sucks bc I've waited 10 yrs for this game. I guess I'll just have to wait until the DLC comes out.

That moment with the Griffin reminds me of this time I made Camp on the beach outside Bakbattahl and as soon as my party woke up and a griffin just FALLS in the water right next to me and I sat there for like 10 minutes going "Wait...what?"

@@paz1514eh… not really. no matter what you have equipped you only get 3 skills (aside from the one that switches your weapon). and not 3 per weapon, 3 total. so you really can’t just be every class at once.
I know Archer is far from the flashiest or most varied vocation but man, is it FUN as hell imo. Snuck up on and one shot a sleeping Griffin with an explosive arrow and a follow up shot to detonate it.
This game has been very fun, I'm glad I picked up DD1 and played through it for the first time not too long ago in prep for this. That said, it has glaring issues, I just hope it gets the love it needs and deserves in updates and dlc.
So I beat the game yesterday and immediately started a new game today. This game is sooo good. Like I had chores to do this weekend and dragons dogma 2 just threw all those plans to the wolves.
Warrior vocation is absolutely op in this game. I took to it like a duck to water, getting up close and personal with the enemy and absolutely shredding them. I typically beef up my weapon's knock-down power using dwarven smithing twice, and then Battahl smithing to beef up attack a little more, take it to the dragonforged and get it upgraded with Wyrms life crystals and that cuts the weight of it in half. I found it much easier to use after being a Sorcerer, which was probably my favourite vocation before becoming a Warrior, but found it lacking in the overwhelming powah department like in the first game. I still have to get Maelstrom and the other top teir spells, that will most likely change things. I don't think magic is as fun as it was in the first game, but I still enjoy it. I enjoy the spectacular takedowns as a Warrior more so. But dang, that Maelstrom amazing! For defence I wear a ring that makes it more difficult to be knocked down and staggered. I have my Main Pawn as a Sorcerer now to help cover my weaknesses. I've since unlocked the Warfarrer Vocation, but still rely heavily on that big ol sword. Also, it's very easy to keep enemies distracted and staggered by using barge, it works well on those blasted Rattlers, cute as they are, I do not like being tenderised by their rocky hides. I noticed the game has familiar mechanics and themes, but it is different enough that it took me a while to get the feel of the game, I still make mistakes and get mobbed by enemies if I'm not careful. Evade one enemy type then run into a whole cluster fluff of mixed enemies, goblins/wolves/one or two big boss types all at once and I become either a punching bag or a pinball simulator. It seems like they co-ordinate their assaults sometimes, band together to take down the Arisen even if before they hated each other's guts. But still, I come back for more. I absolutely love this game. Also, I noticed your Grim Golem had a head. My ones don't seem to appear with one. Golems for me seem to be glitchy in general, like I slew one but it kept moving. I haven't been launched into the stratosphere like I've seen other people have experienced, they get the average Skyrim Giant experience there, but yeah, buggy to the point of hilarious. Oh, one time I hit a griffin so hard it forgot how to griffin. Just froze. These bugs are rare, but I love them. I think my favourite memory is of an Ogre boldly waltzing into town to harass the ox cart, we fought it, got it down to half a bar, then a guy I was instructed to hunt down and question collared me and turned himself in, I didn't even have that quest set as priority. The ogre raged on for a bit then settled down for some reason. The city guards polished it off while it was sitting there contemplating its existence. Robbing me of the final blow because I was locked into conversation with this spy bloke. I'm glad that it isn't like Skyrim in that way, when you're locked in conversation with someone in Dragons Dogma 2, you become immune to damage. Thank goodness for small mercies! Forgot to say, being sick coincided with me buying this game, so I have lived and breathed it most of the hours I've been awake, I think even if I wasn't, it would have been the same, it's amazing game! The first I still love a little more, but this one is still nothing short of spectacular. Oh and you weren't the only one that made the mistake of thinking that camping was a checkpoint save. I also lost a good amount of exploration time in Battahl, I reached the same area as you, only I was way underlevelled, and ill prepared. I had to quit, take a break, and come back to it. Didn't help that I learned that my Pawns had been exposed to dragon rabies.. I didn't want to yeet them into the Brine, I'm too much of a softie. Instead they fought bravely and fell at the hands of a Drake. Rehired my old team and haven't switched them out since. Anyway, I always enjoy watching your content, your humour is always on point. Also, you're an inspiration, if it wasn't for you, I would not have discovered the awesomeness that is the Warrior Vocation.
I added Chonk Lord to my team along with Shadowcute. They've made an amazing team with my pawn, right now I'm having a great time having them with me. Also, Chonk Lord had a fixation in my pawn, Uriel, scars (she's a woman), guess now we know a bit about his likes.
So not sure if someone else has said this. But that particular archway that you went through that caused you to clip under the map? That happened to me EXACTLY. When I saw where you were I feared the worst, and it happened. I attempted to ferrystone, and it wouldn't allow it, because I suppose under the map or that particular spot classifies as 'Underground', meaning it didn't work. I immediately quit without saving and luckily my last autosave was seconds before I decided to sprint through the archway for whatever reason. Very sorry about your progress Cringe. I hope you're still enjoying the game, and hopefully, maybe they'll patch that for the souls yet to be absorbed by the ground.
Holy shit, you clipped through the exact place I got stuck in my playthrough! Ferrystones didn't work there, and neither did summoning harpies to pull me up. Inn save was the only way out.

This game is way over hated. I can understand being mad about the performance or even the mtx (even though they're as benign as they get) but a ton of the complaints I see are the exact same things present in the first game. It's extremely dumb. Keep enjoying your game, king.

Christ I got basically a full day and a night to play the game and get myself absolutely hooked on it before i had to go and visit family for a full week away from it and now im just trying my best to watch what little snippets here and there trying so hard not to spoil myself but i NEEEEEED IT!
I've only played Archer so far, and it's been tricky not having the Strider's dodge roll to rely on for evasion. I've definitely had to put more thought into my positioning and attack timings. As cool as it is to jump and kick off an enemy whilst doing a backflip, it's not the get-out-of-jail-free card that the roll was in DD1, so I'm enjoying the challenge of re-learning the game!
I clipped into that same spot. I got out of there by popping a riftstone, but the top half of the characters body has to be popped out of the geometry or you just toss the stone and it plops to the ground lol
5:36 Chonk Lord did the same shit in my game, we jumped on top of a griffin as it flew up and he used the fire blades to burn its wings while I stabbed it in the head. Barely managed to land on a rock while he had a nice dining experience with Brian.
The only thing i wish this game had was the enemy variety of the first, but who knows maybe DLC like Dark Arisen will give us that. Edit: Then there’s the fact DDO gave us a ton more enemy types not seen in the first game as well, like Orcs and i LOVE orcs, it was also where the Sphinx originally came from, so i really hope DLC for DD2 will add more enemy variety.
0:54 One thing I noticed after beating the game and switching my main character to a smaller guy (first was a big tall boy) was that height and weight determine how snappy your character moves. Bigger is more sluggish smaller is the old DD1 style, snappy. Concrete being a big girl makes movement feel more weighty.
Tip: hire pawns with augural flare instead of maelstrom. Chonk lord can easily trigger the flares, it has lower cast time and bigger damage, but needs setup to trigger.
First time i fought a wyvern i was definitely underleveled. But the wyvern did its fire breath attack where it backs up and it fell into a river and died.
i installed a nexus mod called "custom difficulty tweaks" and now we've got dark arisen hard mode at home! it' immediately makes the game two times more fun as the game is too easy past certain points *dies one shot by a rolling rattler*

@@paz1514eh… not really. no matter what you have equipped you only get 3 skills (aside from the one that switches your weapon). and not 3 per weapon, 3 total. so you really can’t just be every class at once.

I know Archer is far from the flashiest or most varied vocation but man, is it FUN as hell imo. Snuck up on and one shot a sleeping Griffin with an explosive arrow and a follow up shot to detonate it.

This game has been very fun, I'm glad I picked up DD1 and played through it for the first time not too long ago in prep for this. That said, it has glaring issues, I just hope it gets the love it needs and deserves in updates and dlc.

So I beat the game yesterday and immediately started a new game today. This game is sooo good. Like I had chores to do this weekend and dragons dogma 2 just threw all those plans to the wolves.
Warrior vocation is absolutely op in this game. I took to it like a duck to water, getting up close and personal with the enemy and absolutely shredding them. I typically beef up my weapon's knock-down power using dwarven smithing twice, and then Battahl smithing to beef up attack a little more, take it to the dragonforged and get it upgraded with Wyrms life crystals and that cuts the weight of it in half. I found it much easier to use after being a Sorcerer, which was probably my favourite vocation before becoming a Warrior, but found it lacking in the overwhelming powah department like in the first game. I still have to get Maelstrom and the other top teir spells, that will most likely change things. I don't think magic is as fun as it was in the first game, but I still enjoy it. I enjoy the spectacular takedowns as a Warrior more so. But dang, that Maelstrom amazing!
For defence I wear a ring that makes it more difficult to be knocked down and staggered. I have my Main Pawn as a Sorcerer now to help cover my weaknesses. I've since unlocked the Warfarrer Vocation, but still rely heavily on that big ol sword. Also, it's very easy to keep enemies distracted and staggered by using barge, it works well on those blasted Rattlers, cute as they are, I do not like being tenderised by their rocky hides.
I noticed the game has familiar mechanics and themes, but it is different enough that it took me a while to get the feel of the game, I still make mistakes and get mobbed by enemies if I'm not careful. Evade one enemy type then run into a whole cluster fluff of mixed enemies, goblins/wolves/one or two big boss types all at once and I become either a punching bag or a pinball simulator. It seems like they co-ordinate their assaults sometimes, band together to take down the Arisen even if before they hated each other's guts. But still, I come back for more. I absolutely love this game.
Also, I noticed your Grim Golem had a head. My ones don't seem to appear with one. Golems for me seem to be glitchy in general, like I slew one but it kept moving. I haven't been launched into the stratosphere like I've seen other people have experienced, they get the average Skyrim Giant experience there, but yeah, buggy to the point of hilarious. Oh, one time I hit a griffin so hard it forgot how to griffin. Just froze. These bugs are rare, but I love them.
I think my favourite memory is of an Ogre boldly waltzing into town to harass the ox cart, we fought it, got it down to half a bar, then a guy I was instructed to hunt down and question collared me and turned himself in, I didn't even have that quest set as priority. The ogre raged on for a bit then settled down for some reason. The city guards polished it off while it was sitting there contemplating its existence. Robbing me of the final blow because I was locked into conversation with this spy bloke. I'm glad that it isn't like Skyrim in that way, when you're locked in conversation with someone in Dragons Dogma 2, you become immune to damage. Thank goodness for small mercies!
Forgot to say, being sick coincided with me buying this game, so I have lived and breathed it most of the hours I've been awake, I think even if I wasn't, it would have been the same, it's amazing game! The first I still love a little more, but this one is still nothing short of spectacular. Oh and you weren't the only one that made the mistake of thinking that camping was a checkpoint save. I also lost a good amount of exploration time in Battahl, I reached the same area as you, only I was way underlevelled, and ill prepared. I had to quit, take a break, and come back to it. Didn't help that I learned that my Pawns had been exposed to dragon rabies.. I didn't want to yeet them into the Brine, I'm too much of a softie. Instead they fought bravely and fell at the hands of a Drake. Rehired my old team and haven't switched them out since.
Anyway, I always enjoy watching your content, your humour is always on point. Also, you're an inspiration, if it wasn't for you, I would not have discovered the awesomeness that is the Warrior Vocation.
I added Chonk Lord to my team along with Shadowcute. They've made an amazing team with my pawn, right now I'm having a great time having them with me.
Also, Chonk Lord had a fixation in my pawn, Uriel, scars (she's a woman), guess now we know a bit about his likes.

So not sure if someone else has said this. But that particular archway that you went through that caused you to clip under the map? That happened to me EXACTLY. When I saw where you were I feared the worst, and it happened. I attempted to ferrystone, and it wouldn't allow it, because I suppose under the map or that particular spot classifies as 'Underground', meaning it didn't work. I immediately quit without saving and luckily my last autosave was seconds before I decided to sprint through the archway for whatever reason. Very sorry about your progress Cringe. I hope you're still enjoying the game, and hopefully, maybe they'll patch that for the souls yet to be absorbed by the ground.
Holy shit, you clipped through the exact place I got stuck in my playthrough! Ferrystones didn't work there, and neither did summoning harpies to pull me up. Inn save was the only way out.
The fact the maister skill for trickster is just around the corner from where you get the vocation and she didn’t get it is pretty funny ngl

This game is way over hated. I can understand being mad about the performance or even the mtx (even though they're as benign as they get) but a ton of the complaints I see are the exact same things present in the first game. It's extremely dumb. Keep enjoying your game, king.

I've only played Archer so far, and it's been tricky not having the Strider's dodge roll to rely on for evasion. I've definitely had to put more thought into my positioning and attack timings. As cool as it is to jump and kick off an enemy whilst doing a backflip, it's not the get-out-of-jail-free card that the roll was in DD1, so I'm enjoying the challenge of re-learning the game!

I clipped into that same spot. I got out of there by popping a riftstone, but the top half of the characters body has to be popped out of the geometry or you just toss the stone and it plops to the ground lol

The only thing i wish this game had was the enemy variety of the first, but who knows maybe DLC like Dark Arisen will give us that.
Edit: Then there’s the fact DDO gave us a ton more enemy types not seen in the first game as well, like Orcs and i LOVE orcs, it was also where the Sphinx originally came from, so i really hope DLC for DD2 will add more enemy variety.

0:54 One thing I noticed after beating the game and switching my main character to a smaller guy (first was a big tall boy) was that height and weight determine how snappy your character moves. Bigger is more sluggish smaller is the old DD1 style, snappy. Concrete being a big girl makes movement feel more weighty.

Tip: hire pawns with augural flare instead of maelstrom. Chonk lord can easily trigger the flares, it has lower cast time and bigger damage, but needs setup to trigger.

First time i fought a wyvern i was definitely underleveled. But the wyvern did its fire breath attack where it backs up and it fell into a river and died.

i installed a nexus mod called "custom difficulty tweaks" and now we've got dark arisen hard mode at home! it' immediately makes the game two times more fun as the game is too easy past certain points *dies one shot by a rolling rattler*
