Dr Bob brings you SCP Foundation Keter Class object, SCP-016 Sentient Micro-Organism Animation.
SCP016 is a blood-borne pathogen recovered from a mine worker who injured himself while working in a deep coal seam. Said wound became contaminated with coal dust from the mine, possibly infecting the worker with dormant spores. Over the next several days, SCP016 proceeded to infect the remaining employees at the mining camp, as well as the CDC crisis team dispatched to deal with the epidemic.

Before it got to the transformation aspect, this SCP heavily reminded me of an episode of Fringe, in which an ancient hemorrhagic fever virus was unearthed and began to infect an entire building. Patients were influenced by the virus in order to maximize the chance of concealing infection before it could infect the maximum number of new hosts. And when the perfect opportunity came (and no sooner), every blood vessel in the host would burst, aerosolizing the infected blood into a crowd of new hosts.

More like from the movie Outbreak which was from the Mutaba Virus. In fact some of these systems including the eyes bleeding is in the movie Outbreak which came out in 1995 and the virus has a very short incubation period.

This SCP seems to be inspired by the theory of life below the ice in Antarctica. Pathogens and virus that were trapped and if we get infected it could be a end of the world case scenario.

@@cl0ckmak3r so in Antarctica’s km deep ice, there are freshwater lakes being Lake Vostok the largest, many scientists have drilled and have theorized about the life forms that would live down there. There is a creepypasta or conspirator story about an expedition with 5 people I think, and found an octopus-like creature who killed 3 members of the team, and fortunately could go back to the surface, it is called Organism 46-B. Other people theorize that if there’s a pathogen down there, it could cause a global epidemic with worse effects than right now, because we aren’t adapted to be infected by that pathogen/virus.

@@osanixian1499 I found another scp that I think is more terrifying and yet so simple.And it messed up my mind and I questioned my beliefs flr a few days but eventually just shrugs it off as a fictional, there's even a warning before you read it...it was called "What Happens after Death" if I'm not mistaken

Imagine: There's an outbreak of SCP-016, more than 90% of the people there are infected, the nuclear bomb is detonated. However this only helps SCP-016 spread as the explosion distributes it to all nearby cities

@@theshermantanker7043 That's just a more efficient form of DNA repair, that sort of adaptation would be too costly in any pathogen that relies on infecting hosts to survive.
SCP-016 would likely be vaporized in the blast so...
I mean, I think that the pathogen would be instantly turned to plasma and thus, be destroyed.

Theory: Dr.Bob is the Penultimate if not Ultimate Anomaly, and due to that, can't be contained easily by the foundation. So the foundation has him be an explainer of some of the more dangerous anomalies. As to explain the dangers, the protocols, and what not to do.
He survived every anomaly shown, and even copy their anomalous properties, even making them benefit him when others can't or just die.
Since the foundation can't contain him that well, the O5 council decided to make him an honorary member, given that he can access info most can't. But, he also doesn't give away all info, only the info common members would want to know about, unless absolutely needed.
This is 1000% a crack theory, but considering what we know, seems plausible.
He’s probably not a penultimate lifeform, but more like an entity like SCP-343: a reality bender with powers strong enough to be considered godlike

I don't think the fact that 016 rapidly reacts and evolves in response to the environment is a sign of sentience. Normal microbes and virus mutate and evolve all the time and they are not sentient. I think its more of a sign of unique genetics.
The pathogen bases its adaptations on the knowledge of the infected, the one that turned into a bomb was a chemist, the one that turned into a aquatic lifeforms knew about gills and echolocation.
Sentient because while normal virus and bacteria can "mutate" its just because they constantly mutate and theres a chance one of the mutations is benefitial over Many hosts.
In this scp, the virus asseses the threat and coordinates to produce a mutation that can potentially save the host.

Can I just say that certain sounds like at the beginning where the doctor was stitching up a wound and certain scenes (or whatever it's called in animation) like how he explained that it could change the infected person's body was enough to make me feel grossed out or threatened. I get that this facility is fictional... But their experimentation on D class is extreme and very unbiased, on whether their personal history could lead to this kind of treatment.
I heard they only make the worst criminals D-class personnel, like murders, terrorists, etc. Sometimes I wonder just how many of them are there though 🤣

- Despite all the other annoying ads, I actually enjoyed the ones for LoL.
- I love that snow transition at 0:09. It doesn't interrupt the storytelling, and rather, adds to it.
- This is indeed one of the more interesting SCPs. It certainly tickled the dying microbiologist in me and made me wonder what type of microorganism it is.

This kind of reminds me of something out of The Crimson from Terraria, which similarly spreads and twists it’s victims into horrific biological monstrosities.
Though the Bone Orchard reminds me of The Crimson even more, since the Crimson affects even the land itself.

Anyone else notice how there has been a weird trend among SCP channels, where the foundation is depicted as cartoonishly incompetent? Often the personnel act completely unprofessionally have no understanding of basic safety precautions, and are just *incredibly* stupid.
It really hurts the suspension of disbelief and just completely breaks the immersion. I'm so glad it wasn't the case here, this was very enjoyable :). Well done.
Yeah Dr. Bob does his stories well, since they’re pretty much always set before the foundation contained the SCPs, rather than “haha containment breach goes brrrr”

A miner gets injured bad enough to warrant a tourniquet and stitches, but he only gets one day off, and only because of seemingly unrelated cold symptoms? And don’t tell me this took place long ago, because yeah, the rotary phone we see at one point does date this to somewhere the past, but not long enough ago to pre-date basic labor rights…
Huh? Oh wait, I guess I’m barely a couple minutes in. I’ll keep watching, but I better not see anything else nearly this horrific in the video!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is probably an older SCP? The way the foundation acts in this case feels like they're trying to control the pathogen rather than contain it.
Other than the over time added 001's the scps are basically written in series up to several thousand at a time, and this is from the very first series of SCP. Their not in numerical order to the time they occured (because the SCP wiki is more like a compilation of an entire SCP multiverse if you will) but their number does determine what series and to that effect, how old of an scp they are. Given this is 016, and we have upwards of 6999+ it's an oldie xD in comparison
My guess is they were probably trying to see if they could utilize the pathogen for something that would benefit them in some way.
