- Welcome back to Pattern Poole tv; today, we are sharing with you some of the largest quilt-as-you-go quilts Monica has made. These quilts use the same joining method as the I, Valentine quilt and will give you an idea of how the finished quilt will look.
This is episode 5 of The Quilt-as-you-go Chronicles; in the next ten episodes, we will make a mystery quilt-as-you-go quilt called I, Valentine. Each week we will construct a section of the quilt and show you lots of tips and techniques, as well as delving into all things quilt as you go and sewing. In this series, you will learn how to machine applique, free-motion quilt, and quilt on a home sewing machine. Also, you will discover two great methods for quilt as you go and see how we make an entire quilt from start to finish on our domestic sewing machine. You can sew along with the Pattern Poole community and us; all you need to do is head to our website and purchase the course to have the PDF patterns emailed to you weekly.
Please don't forget to share our work and subscribe to our channel so we can keep growing and make the beautiful art of quilting and sewing accessible to anyone who wants to learn!

The Shades of Indigo is the most beautiful quilt I’ve ever seen! Each quilt is amazing. Thank you so much for this video.
Oh wow, thank you so much! Thanks for watching our videos!
Oh my gosh! These are so beautiful! I'm so glad I found your channel! Thank you for showing us these beauties and inspiring us.
Thank you so much!
Monica, you are so incredibly talented. Your quilts are absolutely gorgeous!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Can not believe you can achieve such beautiful quilts using the quilt as you go method. They are beyond beautiful.❤
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What size is the Renaissance quilt? Looks huge!
Oh yes I forgot to mention the size, it’s quite large, from memory it’s about 90” square.
Monica, these quilts are exquisite! Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with the rest of the world. 💕🧵
Thank you so much!
I have a large irregular appliqué that I want to put on my quilt and, because I am inexperienced, I asked a few quilters if I could quilt the three layers first then put on the appliqué and quilt it through two layers, and they all said no. Watching your video I can see that I can do it and quilt in between the appliqué to keep it attached. Thank you.
Yes you sure can, think of it as a piece of art with no rules and go for it! If it’s a quilt that you want to use and wash, make sure that it’s washable. Enjoy!
@@PatternPooleTV Thank you.
@@PatternPooleTV sorry for all the questions, I am hand quilting this large quilt which I have also hand pieced. My backing is irregular blocks of tshirts/hoodies. When quilting, do I start in the centre as usual and go out, and then down and outwards? Or quilt from the centre all the way down then from the centre all the way up? Thank you.
Класс 👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Thanks ❤️
Wow, I know I'm a beginner but your help really increased my focus and quilt work. Thank you both for ALL that you do and share, and do you have a Patreon or other platform that is outside of Facebook? Most in America is staying away from that platform
That’s great to hear, you are most welcome! We’ve considered a patreon, what do you think people would expect and enjoy if we decided to go ahead with it.
WOW!!! Im in love with all these quilts you made....I wish I could do that...how beautiful... you are so talented....
Thank you so much!
Oh my gosh, these are even more fabulous than the ones I followed you on, earlier. (The shades of Indigo! Gorgeous!💙)...There is still SO much for me to learn and figure out, but once I discovered you and QAYG, I now apply it most of the memory quilt orders I do. (Currently making one from saris.) It saves me so much time and frustration with a small machine. It also allows me to take blocks with me, if I'm travelling. Thank you for your inspiration, and wonderful teaching methods! 💜
Thank you so much! Great to hear that our videos have helped you, thanks for watching!
Monica, I was blown away by these quilts. So beautiful, and a lot of work. I really like the QAYG method. I've been using the method for some time. I want to thank you for the tips.
You are so welcome!
WOW WOW WOW 🤩- not much else to add really apart from what talent you have Monica ❤
Thanks Iris, you’re pretty talented yourself, we love what you make and share in our Facebook group ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@PatternPooleTV so kind of you to say so x
Your quilts are absolutely stunning to gaze upon, such beautiful artistry. You are so talented, and make it all look so easy. During my quilting journey, I hope one day to acquire half your talents, even a quarter. You are the Vincent Van Gogh in the world of quilting. Do you sketch your quilts on paper, before bringing them to life with fabric?
Thank you so much, you are way too kind! Yes I sketch on paper, my daughter Alaura started this way too but is now a very talented digital drawer. Keep on quilting and enjoy every moment, everything you make is uniquely you ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Zijn deze patronen ook te kopen in pdf?
Can you do some detailed videos about doing bias? And also, adding appliqué to quilts once they are made and large? I think you did some on the tiger quilt, but something really details and more focused on the bias on both individual blocks and adding it to larger pieces. Thanks! So pretty!
We’ll see what we can do ❤️
😮😮 your quilts are so beautiful, full of tiny detaills. Did you participate in some kind of exhibition? Just perfection i can see in your quilts. 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much! Oh you just remined me that the Shades of Indigo quilt won viewer's choice at the Cotton Fibre Expo.
I am in awe of your talents Monica, just beautiful 😍
