    I just got the bug at 61 after buying a Kona Dew and only 6 weeks later a big Honzo. Fun, well built bikes priced reasonably. Now that I’ve seen a wicked build like yours I can only imagine how awesome it is to ride. And you’re from BC, yours is a great story man and thumbs up on a great video too.

      Thanks Bruce - welcome to the club. It's never too late... it's never too slow when you're having fun!

    Sweet! Congrats on getting building up your dream bike. Such a cool feeling. Looking forward to seeing it in some upcoming trips! I am a little surprised the dream build didn't include a little front squish!

      That's the plan actually... a little alter ego for the future. I want to run a Fox TaperCast gravel fork on this with 50mm 650b. But that will take a while to save. However, I still have my Big Kahuna which will stay in MTB mode. Maybe with some OMM racks for "photographic/fishing" adventures. Which reminds me... I need to find a 5-6 pc switch rod. Hmmmmm.....

    I made a mid-life crisis bike using a Ti frame from Sage Cycles and threw 2x Force AXS Wide eTap on it. It's been an absolute pleasure to ride. I don't care what anybody says about electronic shifting (you have to charge it, you don't need it, etc) it has been absolutely stellar. I'm almost thinking about putting it on my mountain bike, but now that I have the gravel bike, I don't ride the mountain bike as much.

    Beautiful bike! Love the color choices you went with. The orange really pops against the blue. Looks like you also didn't hesitate putting that bike right to work on some adventures! Congrats on the new machine!

      Oh yeah... right into the thick of it. Rain, mud, muck, dust, gravel, and.... to work every day.

      Glad you enjoyed it! Sorry about the lack of "freshness" -- full time day job gets in the way. LOL

      Thank you so much 😀 The video has been a long time combing too... life has been pretty busy. As you can see it's been a blast to ride... Time to ride and shoot more videos!!!!

      It does! I'm really happy with how it all works. Really enjoying the AXS shifting. Set it and forget it (well, except for remember to always have your spare battery - just in case)

    Any advice on sizing for a 5'11" rider? I can't decide if a 54 or 56 is going to work better for me.

    • @SaltyBeard_Adventures

      I’m 5-8 & 30” inseam… low end of a 54cm but after talking directly with my rep, went down a size. I was on the fence for a while too. For me, I think it was the right choice for bikepacking. Feels nice on spicy trails.

    What size is your libre?

    • @SaltyBeard_Adventures
      @SaltyBeard_Adventures  Рік тому

      52… I erred on the smaller size for handling on tighter trails. I’m 5-8, 30” inseam. Fits very well, and comfortable with aero bars not too stretched out with a 70mm stem.
