i do hard enduro riding here in mountainous rocky East TN on my YZ250x and I have never had to use a fan, these bikes never over heat as long as you keep the jetting reasonable. The Apex XC head with the gnarly pipe is a good combo to really smooth out the power but good low end torque.
@@BigEbikesports I agree, it sounded so crisp on the other vid but Cody will have to make compromises, I used to run a TSP head on my 300 tpi and it did lower the temps
Awesome build! But Yamaha needs an enduro-ready WR! Counter balancer, electric starter and a stator that generates enough electricity, factory fan, a small lithium battery and a new engine! The YZ is cool, super light, but that engine consumes a lot of gas! Forcing the use of a huge tank that weighs a lot due to the excess fuel in it!
Also since you are shimming up the govenor on the powervalve it might seem rich mid to top. There is a power jet when you flip the carb upside down, take the bowl off and you will see a little jet in a hole of the rim of carb body. Stock is size 50, you can order a 40 through Rocky mtn ATV. Keep the bottom more on the rich side for low end torque, use the powerjet to lean up the midrange. Your jetting is what will keep the motor cool when running low speeds mostly.
Hey Cody love the content. FYI since you obviously are a do it yourself kinda guy, get you a set of transfer punches and you will never have to eyeball the center of a very important hole again👍( I own my own welding and Fabrication business)
Test with Yamaha…do tell. When you can of course hahah. Love these videos by the way, I like working on dirt bikes almost as much as I like to ride them. Not quite but close lol
One thing that might help at some point, Get yourself a Keihin 36mm Carb instead of the stock 38mm. Easier to jet, better response and much better bottom end torque.
@@codywebb2 still not safe if you're messing with fuel. The vapour from the fuel is heavier than air and lingers around the floor space....you're providing an ignition source ! Get your child out of there 🙈
I run a Temperature Switch 85c on the top on the right rad a Dewalt 5.0Ah Lithium Ion Battery under the seat Dewalt 18V to 12V Battery Dock Power, a EXED Radiator Cooling Fan Kit for 2024 KTM/Husqvarna/GasGas on the left rad I have the same tank you have. Fan comes on and off as it needs to and the batttery last a full days ride in rocky ST not far from RORR tuff enduro..
Why don’t we make radiator guards that accommodate a fan running in push mode and eliminate issues between the radiator and tank? I ran my sherco like this but lacked the necessary fan and radiator fins protection. I had radiator guards for side protection only. Worked fine.
Love ya, Cody.... A real sucker for punishment... Could've climbed onto a KTM (or one of their subsidiaries) and all that stuff would've come on the bike... But, no, you chose to go the long way around.... Go figure!
Thanks for sharing this with us man. Best Yamaha yz250 content since they switched to aluminum frames in 2006 haha.
I hope all this exposure will get Yamaha to spend some money on updating these 2-strokes.
Im really enjoying these videos, Cody! Thanks so much!
Hey Cody love the content . Get you a set of transfer punches and never have to eyeball center again. Ultra factory way of doing it👍
One of the best phrases where "that's what she said" was inserted 😂😂😂😂😂
21:36 haha your age is showing a bit talking bout your electricity bill like that 😂
Can't wait to see how this season goes!
Looking good!
Hoping for a CW2 edition yz250x so we can all enjoy the fruits of your labor 😂😂

do you still have the stock radiator cap?
@@codywebb2 Yes and it has 150 hours on it already, still working like new!
Running it lean would have brought cylinder temps up
@@gary444 That is what keeping the jetting reasonable means... not too lean.

nice loving this build series
Great success!

I've already got it swapped out for a 40 in there!

Might be my next factory purchase. Someone else mentioned it as well

Very nice 👍👍
"NOT RACE READY"
🔥🔥🔥
insane amount of mods
There’s more coming too. This was def a learning process

Yeah. That’ll be the next move. Problem is I have three of these bikes haha
Could you reduce the pull on the fan with a resistor to bring it down to an acceptable level? Even if its running a little slower
You could. But then you lose energy in heat. So it really doesn’t help
@codywebb2 very valid point
Are u going to put a hole shot device on your race bike?
Love ya Cody’ please don’t die running that propane heater inside😮
Got the window open for a vent

rocky mountain makes a universal fan kit, Tusk. it only pull half the amps as other brands i think its like 15a.
Try heating up the socket with a torch and slowly pressing that into the plastic
Well I got it eventually haha. Burnt my fingers slightly
All looks good are you fit for your first race

Get some 'Tap Magic' for tapping holes, makes it much easier.
U need a smart carb or lectron carb for the bike

it didn't even fit in the space. Whether it was push or pull, I had to modify the oversized tank
If your sticking with a cable you should check out a righteous stunt clutch easy pull. RSC is the way
Did you ditch the hydro clutch?w
What battery are you using with the estart bike? And how is air filter access? Keep up the good work.
170 main in Phoenix area is way way lean for a yz. They like fuel
Which cam are you running on the G2 throttle? (Quick, Tamer, or Stock)
Stock
