    I'm going through this agony now. Seems simple until you start working on those bolts at the bottom of the radiator ! I'm going to use a grinder to cut things free, as my wings are pretty banged up and need to be replaced. I put a stick through the radiator and have to replace it. Lots of fun ! (Not).

      Good luck with the hood, sometimes another person or two can be a big help to get the hood loose and/or help of a pulley system or hoist to help pull it off.
      In the worst case scenario, the fasteners and/or panels have rusted down to the point when using a grinder like you mentioned may be the only option.
      In addition to corrosion, the tractor in this video had a mount welded out of alignment from the other side which created more difficulty to remove the hood.

      It's like removing a band-aid fix. If/when the time comes the mount at the bottom of the radiator needs to be replaced and that'll line the hood back properly. I think it had a front end collision and/or rusted over time, so the mount was welded back in the wrong place.

    Is 8n same procedure? Thanks Darrell

      The 8N is the same procedure. The challenge for this 9N was that there was damage to the hood mount and it was fixed out of alignment. With two hood mounts in the stock location, it should be an easier process.

    That 8N ain’t gonna run correctly until it is painted red and grey.😉

      Nice. Since I’m initially not rebuilding the engine / re-sleeving the cylinders, I’ll have to keep that one in mind, lol. I have thought about just brushing it again with grey. It would have to be dark otherwise it would just highlight the dents, corrosion and soil. Thanks for writing a comment.

      @@TryAdaptLearn I took my ‘49 block to machine shop and let them install sleeves as I had broken two sleeves attempting it myself. Parts are getting ridiculously expensive. I’m thinking of a psychedelic paint scheme for my ‘51 project and maybe raffle it off.

    Try getting it off with a loader mounted to it. That's what I'm looking at doing. Gonna suck.

      I think it would work well with either a second person, a loader or even an engine hoist. It looked very hard in this video because one side of the mount was welded in the wrong place which misaligned the whole hood.

    Are the ford 2n the same?

    • @TryAdaptLearn
      @TryAdaptLearn  2 роки тому

      The hood removal process should be the same for the 9N, 2N and 8N. Please keep in mind that on this tractor, the hood mount was welded in a different location, likely part of a fix, which causes the hood on this tractor to be misaligned.
