Great comparison, but lets be real in 2025. The Vision Master Pro 2 is $3K now that the kickstarter is over, and will not be shipping for months! The XGIMI Horizon S Max is $1609 on Amazon. Given this price and availability difference I do not think the Valerion was just about twice as good! I would save $1400 and get the XGIMI.

Another one called the "Max" has vertical lens shift and dynamic IRIS . Insane! Won't hit the street til' May 25'. It seems my money's gone "AWOL" before Christmas.
Overall, I think it’s a very good review from someone who’s had a few projectors. But you did not put price into the equation and I think your number one winner is double the price of the other ones I’m interested in their top model one it comes in but Kickstarter right now it’s $2200
As many have previously criticized in Xgimi's earlier models, the subpar contrast ratio and black level representation have consistently been their major shortcomings. In this regard, the new model from Xgimi seems to have achieved remarkable improvements. Although it may not quite reach the million-to-one contrast ratio they claim, the advancements are noteworthy.
Furthermore, the scene starting from 5:39 seems to be where Xgimi truly shines, in my opinion. The details of the forest and rocks along the mountain ridge on the left are highly precise and stand out remarkably.

Hisense shares the same optics with Awol/Valerion (they're from the same supplier). Also, the optics they share depend on physical solutions to diminish speckles, which is a much less efficient way to tackle them. In my knowledge, JMGO's optics show a higher level in terms of speckle issues; at least they don't rely on any physical aids.I'm also curious about how the 4.8ms delay was measured. Does the projector have to be placed in the middle and parallel to the wall or can it also be placed on one side, e.g. next to a couch and project onto a wall in front of the couch?
Nice comparison. But as a Home Theater user, only the second half of your video was relevant. Of note, you scored the Valerion the best 10 in all of the image quality comparisons. Nice. It was also pleasing to hear you compare it to OLED quality. Can’t wait to see how it performs for myself.

At 9:22 the Valerion focus image looks like is has bad laser speckle, the plain white in the image appears almost dirty. (compare this to 9:27 XGIMI which is clear pure white) I hope its not that, as my jmgo n1 ultra has really bad laser speckle and i cant stand it. this would kill the projector for me personally.
The VisionMaster Pro 2 is looking interesting. These all seem to put a premium on size and portability. For a fixed viewing room, what does the VisionMaster Pro 2 offer in terms of ceiling mounting (or does one need to build a custom shelf)?
The Valerion VM Pro 2 looks interesting though if you spend a bit of time studying the differences between EBL on and off you can see that by darkening the scene it is also losing a lot of the shadow detail. This maybe normal if viewed with a true high native contrast projector but based on this video it's the only bit of it's performance I am a little sceptical about.
If you were to give back the points taken away for the remote control and the operating system on the XGIMI , would it stack up to the overall picture quality Of the Valerion. You review seems to imply that. If I heard you correctly , you mentioned the the dynamic contrast ratio measured 12K:1 on the XGIMI . That's very close to the advertised measurement of the Valerion Pro 2 which allegedly goes to 15K:1 when EBL is enabled. Could you give more detail on what the contrast measurements are for each , before and after the dynamic contrast is enabled.
@@brucesmith1754 Only 1 HDMI was another factor. But just in terms of picture quality it is closer, the black floor on the XGIMI is higher but it is still great

The video would lead me to purchase the winner, but I am hesitant to see how the stability is after 6 months before adding this to my Christmas list. Genuine question, no flippancy intended.
What are you worried about, with Valerion? They are the sister brand of AWOL. Their track record speaks for itself, by producing one of the best UST projectors on the market.

Should I upgrade to the new XGIMI Horizon S Max projector? I currently have the XGIMI Horizon Pro 4K and use it in a dark room, so I don’t care much about the lumens..
A new feature to do color adaption to adjust the colors of projected images to non-white walls or other projection surfaces is turning up in this new generation of lifestyle projectors. Did you notice if that feature is available in the VisionMaster. All the others appear to have this feature.
I also saw a past review of recommended screens for long throw triple laser projectors. The recommendation was to use a non-reflective matte white screen as triple laser projectors are susceptible to laser speckle on reflective surfaces.
I was projecting from quite low so didn’t notice an issue, I have a Matt white screen in another room that wasn’t available so I’ll try it next week to see if there is much difference.
@@brucesmith1754 another thing he might shudv added.. how they do on a white wall.. I’m telling u this. All I’ve used since buying the ultimate is a white wall and it’s is phenomenal..
@@jcole5418 I Asked him to check to see if the the VisionMaster has this new feature being added to the new lifestyle projectors that adjusts colors, brightness, contrast of the image projected to a wall by doing a pre analysis of the wall color that the image is being shown on. Different brands have their own names for the feature. But there was no mention of this feature in this review for the Pro/Max projectors. Some features were not mentioned in the review that are contained in the unit. Such features not mentioned in the reviews include Dolby Vision and IMax Enhanced certification.
Wonderful comparison, thank you for doing this! One question, I have an AWOL 3500 (love it), do you think the Valerion Pro 2 or Max would be a upgrade with it's advancements from the 2yr old AWOL? I'm very curious how well the standard-throw Valerion competes with a former UST leader with their brightness and EBL/darks..
@@allthingstech Awesome! I think it would be very very interesting. Esp. with the EBL advancements. Also curious for a comparison with how bright they get for both HDR and 3D performance.
@@abefroman. Its been noted in several reviews that they are working thru software bug issues with the 3DMode. I'm curious why you are concerned about comparing the standard throw of a long throw projector to a ultra short throw projector. The serve different purposes. The comparison of quality between the units does make sence. Especially since they are direct and indirect products thru AWOL.
@@brucesmith1754 Why? Well in my theater, UST are a pain to keep aligned and in focus without a dedicated console...lol. Yes, you are correct about the current disclosed software bugs with FP 3D, however I noted that brightness comparisons was part of my question. I also agree that UST vs Standard Throw serve different purposes, however I am not limited. I switched to an AWOL 3500 (from an Epson 6050ub) 2yrs ago due to reports that is was the best for 3D at the time. Ultimately my goal is to find out in what ways would the Valerion be an upgrade to the 3500 with examples and data points, where possible. Many AWOL users are happy with everything except the black floor. While it appears the Valerion team have greatly improved the black floor with the latest EBL, how does the CR and Lumen count compare with a UST light canon like the 3500. I've also been interested in the HiSense PX3-Pro, but after seeing what Eason and AWOL did with the HiSense UST components for the 3500, I'm very curious with what they can accomplish with their Valerion line.
@@abefroman. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. Although I am no longer interested in a UST projector(i.e. since the introduction of these brighter new lifestyle projectors) at one point I was between the Nexigo Aurora Pro and the AWOL LTV-3000. The new VisonMaster is said to be developed by a "sister"company of AWOL. With that in mind, I became curious , as you have, to see how the Highend 3500 model compares to this new Valerion projector. I have seen a recent review that did a detailed review of the Valerion and the AWOL 3500. He measured a significant increase in the black floor and contrast when the Dynamic contrast(EBL) is enabled. He gave the Valerion high praise as compared to the 3500. Without taking words out of his mouth, here's the link to the review that you can peruse yourself. I think we have a great new product to look foward to. And BTW he was reviewing an intermediate model without the optical zoom lensing, the VisionMaster Plus 2 ,and still was very impressed. www.projectorjunkies.com/
What about the Rainbow Color effect on each? It is a very important factor for me and often not considered in tests. I have the JMGO here and it is unfortunalley full of RGB Raibows on border of fast moving white lines, what a disappointment.
I keep hearing that the VisionMaster contains both Dolby Vision and IMAX enhanced certification, but there was no mention of them in this review. Thanks.
I had two N1 Pro's. One looked great with no issues, the other had the same issues you described. So, I kept the good one and sent the other one back. The picture quality difference was almost like looking at two different projector brand and models. Who knows, quality control or banged around during shipping? Even compared the n1 pro to the paris rhone 4k, the n1 pro destroyed the paris rhone in every way possible. Go figure.
PLEASE HELP ME, I AM BUYING THE VALERION, but I don't know which screen to buy, in the space I have I think a 132" one can fit, even a 150" one, but they told me that the 132" one has no seam so I think it's the best option but I don't know which one you recommend please
Worth adding that the Xgimi does NOT have Netflix. How/why they went with android tv for a 2024 projector at this price is beyond comprehension. Even some of their much cheaper projectors (halo plus (new)) have Google TV and Netflix.
If you are willing to invest almost $2,000 in a TV projector, this should definitely not be a deal breaker . Just buy an Amazon Fire TV stick for $50, and you will have Netflix.
Question.. I have the JMGO ultimate… thought about waiting for the flagship valerion. So question. If the valerion pro 2 is so good… does that mean the valerion flagship will be just as good as something like a Sony or an ultra short throw
And honestly the video does not do any of the projectors justice. Because I have and oled and I project my JMGO ultimate on the big wall next to it. And my people thinks it looks just as good. Minus blacks of course
Funny you say that as I’m going to put an OLED in front to see the difference, I really don’t think it’ll be that noticeable in a darkish room. I think there is not that much difference with the max other than vertical lens shift and dynamic Iris, I’m looking forward to comparing.
@@allthingstech and this is most certainly at night with the comparison.. although I do hope JMGO will be doing some type of update to add Dolby vision.. I do have to agree JMGO blacks are terrible compared to picture. Is there any adjustments they can be made to help with the blacks
With the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 costing 37% more than the XGIMI at their retail prices there really needs to be a price/performance category. My take away from this review is that the XGIMI is a notch under the Valerion in image quality...but to your point "splitting hairs"...but come on, how can you not address the price difference if this is a comparison. It is a MASSIVE difference. I just looked right now and Horizon S Max can be had for $1609...that's a 47% price difference. I would hope the Valeron is better. It better be for that kind of cost difference. I don't own any of thess yet and still considering a Epson 5050ub(different tech I now), mostly for movie watching. I'm tempted to get the XGIMI given it sounds like it was "close" in picture quality and at $1609 sounds like a true bargin if HDMI ports are not a problem for you, which they are not for me. Thanks for the review...would love to see a price/perf category :) .
The Hisence C2 is a fair comparison because it is a long throw triple laser project. The Nexigo aurora is an Ultra short throw projector. Environmental lighting conditions and placement will effect how they perform. An Ambient Light Rejecting screen is a a Requirement for attaining high performance from USTs.
my AWOL Vision UST LTV 3500 Pro will smoke any of these ,,, also if a limited number of HDMI port is a problem i found a Ponybro 5 or 7 port switch works awesome
JMGO is strictly speaking, a 2022 model that has its brightness boosted up in 2023, but the rest is still 2022 so no wonder it performed the worst. They just released the N3 series in China which hopefully will close the gap.
That is the feature that kicks the other 2 in the tail. Hopefully there will soon be review comparing the Valerion to the new Hisense C2 Plus which also has an optical zoom lens with a 0.9:1.5 throw ratio. Im completely baffled why XGIMI did not include an optical zoom in this new S Max model as it was present in last years premium model, Horozon Ultra. And they installed Android OS in2024, when the concensus is to goto Google TV. My only other concern is that the Hisense C2 uses a proprietary ViDDA OS/

This comparison does not take into account RRP. Valerion should be 3.499$ (right now 2.099$ on Kickstarter) while Xgimi SMax is at 1999$. Take into account prices difference and Xgimi Max is the winner. The total scores 93 Valerion vs 82 Xgimi are misleading.
Great Review. have the C1 pre ordered the Max . everyone says ALR screens are not good for long throw which one are you using in the video?
I also saw a past review of recommended screens for long throw triple laser projectors. The recommendation was to use a non-reflective matte white screen as triple laser projectors are susceptible to laser speckle on reflective surfaces.
I was projecting from quite low so didn’t notice an issue, I have a Matt white screen in another room that wasn’t available so I’ll try it next week to see if there is much difference.
@@allthingstech Great . Thanks!
Such features not mentioned in the reviews include Dolby Vision and IMax Enhanced certification.
thx for your very good comparison with these 3 projectors.🙏🙏🙏
I'm curious to know why you give the how you give the Xgimi horizon Max a 9 for night time viewing
Dear Mr. All things Tech: The Hisense C2 Ultra missed in this Comparison...iam little bit disapppointed !! 😢

Скажите где лучше картинка, в jmgo n1s ultra или vidda c2 ultra?
Thanks for the video. Could you please post the contrast, brightness, etc. measurements of the projectors? Thanks
Thanks for great review. How Valerion Pro 2 compares to Epson LS12000? and what is difference between Max and Pro2?
Thanks for the head to head, very informative.
Thank you kind sir. This is exactly what we wanted(:
You mentioned 1080P 240hz, is it possible to go 2k or 4k and still have a decent performance?
What are the price on these 3?
Wonderful comparison, thank you for doing this! One question, I have an AWOL 3500 (love it), do you think the Valerion Pro 2 or Max would be a upgrade with it's advancements from the 2yr old AWOL? I'm very curious how well the standard-throw Valerion competes with a former UST leader with their brightness and EBL/darks..
@@abefroman. I’ve got both, I think I need to do a comparison 🤔

How to record a video without purple color shade from triple laser projector?
Can you tell me a white balance setting?
So you can’t buy the Valeron anywhere?
What about the Rainbow Color effect on each? It is a very important factor for me and often not considered in tests. I have the JMGO here and it is unfortunalley full of RGB Raibows on border of fast moving white lines, what a disappointment.
I keep hearing that the VisionMaster contains both Dolby Vision and IMAX enhanced certification, but there was no mention of them in this review. Thanks.
What screen are you using? Any word on speckle?
Hi, should I swap my Samsung Premiere (single laser LSP7) for a Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2? Is it worth it? Thanks!
I have the n1 pro and I have a lot of noise in the image on dark scenes, is there the same problem on the new 1S ? Great review !
No not at all, I have the ultimate and the image is incredible, its so quiet even after hours of watching. Didnt had any issues
For me the same request... wich one?... ALR?... WHITE?... GREY?
Worth adding that the Xgimi does NOT have Netflix. How/why they went with android tv for a 2024 projector at this price is beyond comprehension.
Even some of their much cheaper projectors (halo plus (new)) have Google TV and Netflix.
If you are willing to invest almost $2,000 in a TV projector, this should definitely not be a deal breaker . Just buy an Amazon Fire TV stick for $50, and you will have Netflix.
What screen he using?? ALR?
does the Valerion has pincushion distortion for a curved screen?
How far can I go away with the Valerion from the screen?
Valerion or Dangbei DBOX02? who is better
The Valerion for Sure. Greetings Mile.
Best comparaison ever :3
Also luv your content 💪🏿💪🏻
Can I stream from an iPhone flawlessly (Airplay)?
May I ask, how the hisense c2 ultra and nexigo aurora pro compare to this?
The Hisence C2 is a fair comparison because it is a long throw triple laser project. The Nexigo aurora is an Ultra short throw projector. Environmental lighting conditions and placement will effect how they perform. An Ambient Light Rejecting screen is a a Requirement for attaining high performance from USTs.
Theres a typo in your title. You reviewed the JMGO Ultimate model. The title shows Ultra.
my AWOL Vision UST LTV 3500 Pro will smoke any of these ,,, also if a limited number of HDMI port is a problem i found a Ponybro 5 or 7 port switch works awesome
JMGO is strictly speaking, a 2022 model that has its brightness boosted up in 2023, but the rest is still 2022 so no wonder it performed the worst. They just released the N3 series in China which hopefully will close the gap.
Still the ultimate is crazy good, smh the blacks looked of in this vid, cause with mine i don’t have this drown darkness
I’d love to see the Valerion vs JVC NZ800
Why isn't anyone comparing the valerion to the x3100i?
Valerion Vision Master Max.....is coming !..... 😎
vs. Hisense C2 ultra?
can xgimi do 120hz at 1080p?
Nice comparison! Valerion is pronounced "Va" Ler" "ee" "on"
you missed to mention that the Valerion has an optical zoom!!
My only other concern is that the Hisense C2 uses a proprietary ViDDA OS/
title is JMGO N1S Ultra but in your video you said ultimate :)
The valerion has a gimble it came with mine and 3d glasses
the one on the top most will hv more contrast at day and more brightness too . ( as its receiving less daylight from side and above , due to roof thats more near and having dark area more.)
@@janmaycuts they were all filmed individually filling the whole screen. I’ve just edited this way so you can see the comparison.
@@allthingstech oh ,, sorry sir . now i got it . sir ,, just one more question . these test are in SDR mode or HDR .
asked cause xgimi does well in HDR and Dolby vision but gets washed out in most of their models in SDR . i mean are these sample vedio SDR / dolby vision/ SDR ???
Dangbei DBOX02 vs Xgimi HORIZON S Max
I think it's VA-LE-RI-ON. not pronounced VAI-LE-ON
Lol
lol, I’m hearing him say: Vail-e-Ler-on
type of projector is important ,, please fix title
This is like a Tyson fight!!!
Hisense C2 Ultra
change the video name ... JMGO N1S Ultra... it is ULTIMATE not ULTRA
Vaileron, Vaileron
It's Valerion xD
lol Valerion portability= 7😅 near than 4, no?
It’s heavy but does come with a great carry case
The Hisense C2 Ultra will beat them All !!!
Not if they don’t sort out their fan, ridiculous that it’s intermittent, I have the C1 and it drives me crazy
@@johnmackie1417 i also have the C1 - for me in my Opinion the Fan is Not too loud. !!
@@johnmackie1417 what i Most hate about the C1,that is has No optical Zoom function 😕
Must be a dodgy model the fan on mine is super quite and I'm literally right next to it.. Hisense c1...
@@arkangel1980 it’s a feature according to their customer support.
It’s not Vale-eron. It’s Val-e-ri-on.
Hélas le Valerion n’est pas proposé en France
You can’t even buy the valerian yet
Do Not Use Keystone, it will degrade your 4k badly
This comparison does not take into account RRP. Valerion should be 3.499$ (right now 2.099$ on Kickstarter) while Xgimi SMax is at 1999$. Take into account prices difference and Xgimi Max is the winner. The total scores 93 Valerion vs 82 Xgimi are misleading. If you consider the most important ones (viewing, focus and operating system) and add price, well Xgimi S Max is one to choose.
👍
