I'm so excited to see how my cousin will use this song and video in her classes. She's a history teacher and she uses Sabatons videos and music as openers and icebreakers for her classes. She's one of those cray cray history teachers we all wish we had. Like a couple of years ago she had her class dig a trench for their lessons about WW1!
Another time i helped her with another project for her students. We set up a game board depicting Omaha beach and had two classes act out D-Day using Warhammer rules and minis.
My great-grandfather was at the Somme. Out of 4 brothers, he only survived; the other 3 died, but they were split up despite wanting to be together, 2 of which were with the Manchester regiment. I never met him but have 2 photos of him and the other of all 4 of them in uniform. My mother's father's grandfather was at Normandy with his twin, which he died on that beach. My grandfather made it back home. Then I've got 2 uncles who were in the RAF (Royal Air Force), then me, an ex-british army crewman in the Challenger 2 (7 years) who has seen action twice. My avatar is actually my regiment's emblem and motto, which is a tank called Big Willie, one of the first main battle tanks of WW1. Our motto is FEAR NAUGHT. For me, Sabaton's did this song justice plus having a personal connection with it due to the given conflict, makes me a little emotional, despite being someone who doesn't cry. It definitely gets a lump in my throat, as always.
RIP to your family members....my great uncle fought at the Somme and Flanders Fields in WW1 same has his older brother (RIP Frank and Joe) Great uncle Ernie fought in WW2 as a runner in the RAF - lest we forget our fallen family members.
The white open car in the street, that they walked around, was like the one Archduke Ferdinand was in when he was assassinated in 1916, sparking the war.

Sabaton are definitely in a class of their own ,my lad is autistic this band is his calming because he learns same time I've loved the journey of this band with him he opens up to me through them . I'm a ex British Army Nurse this band hits it on the nail every time I enjoyed the original but Joakims voice adds a gritty realism and the video just wow by the end not a dry eye this end .This should be shown in our school (well all there stuff) especially Remembrance Sunday to bring forward why that Red Poppy we wear is important and we should never forget any of my brothers or sisters (as you say no matter the uniform) who have paid the ultimate sacrifice ❤ another fantastic reaction stay safe moon and back xh

I don't know if they meant to portray it but I feel like all of the soldiers that are marching in the video are those soldiers who died and Sabaton are leading them to heaven.

I want you to know that I have enormous respect for American veterans. From ww2 and forward, Norway and the US have had a very close relationship, and American soldiers have spilt their blood and loved ones for all of us. Soo thank you for your service
some of my favorite movies of the "real thing" when it comes to representing war: das boot, come and see, all quiet on the western front. they are no nonsense films about the hell that war is.
