- As a recording artist and performer myself, and someone who takes copyrighted content extremely seriously even through my own UA-cam channel, seeing the evolution of Ren's painful experience through "Sick Boi", I couldn't stand by. I respect Ren so much, not only for putting his vulnerability and experiences out there, but understanding the power of a collective of people to support one another, especially through adversity. And so here we are!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she analyzes Ren's "Kujo Beat Down" for the first time.

Wow
Thank you for this. This is such a sad situation, but I'm glad he has an outlet. This is epic though! going viral no doubt!
Everyone else: wow this slaps hard!!!
Elizabeth: I love the string arrangement!
😂😂😂
Surprised you haven't done the "Fred again mashup" or "Back on 74" as you really get to hear him sing rather than rap.
Awesome vid as usual.
I love how you pick up on all the instrumentals. I do wish you would react to Ren's Back on 74 because if you've not heard it yet, I believe you would really appreciate it and I would love to hear your analysis of Ren's singing vocal range and the backup singers.
Thank you for your continued supportfor and appreciation of Ren - from all Renegades everywhere. 💛💛💛
Hasn't tonight been awesome, loving all the ripples going through the reaction channels.
💯❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@BeeLZBeebI’ve been absolutely fascinated by all the different reactions to this wonderfully creative piece of work.
To those who don't know, Elizabeth did an interview with Ren, and they talked about his process. It's a great interview!
Oh I would love to see that!
@@QckSGaming It's on her channel. Just search "Charismatic Voice Ren."
Awesome 👌
The symbolism behind the choir being at the core of the dispute is just amazingly well incorporated in the song.
Yes!
The fact that he shows them as the most victimized by having them unalived in the vide is what I love the most about it.
Yes destroying them with Kujos greed as they came towards him was amazing
Listen very closely to the choir. Their words are very deep.
Don't sell stolen beat.
@@davem793 Is that actually what they sing? That's even more 🔥if so.
Cheers Elizabeth! After premiering my own support video for Ren, I watched yours first! I very much enjoyed your commentary. Ren's so courageous and raw and sophisticated. His art is contagious! I hope you're well!
Guess I know what I am watching next!
I love that you're supporting Ren. Lovely to see the UA-cam community get together & support each other. Ren must be protected.
Just finished this one, and you're next! I'm looking forward to it.
Just saw your video!!! ❤❤❤
Hey Doug 😊 Watched yours last night, it was great too ❤
So that’s my Thursday night sorted. Watch the release of REN’s new song and after that watch Elizabeth do an analysis
Then after that you can check out the other 100+ of other reactions that will be out for KBD.
@@kellyt5341 sounds like a plan
Hours and hours of reactions ahead 😂
Dang, what do you have, 38 minutes of free time a night? 😢
@CJKhaos don't forget to check out Knox Hills reaction
Thank you for supporting Ren ❤❤
Ditto. I am quite surprised it's this song.
It sucks about sick boi, I really enjoyed that song, Ren said he will be redoing it and re-releasing it
It really hurts to see what's happened to Ren. I hope he does redo it.
I just hope the doctor reprises her role!
@@TheCharismaticVoice he is re-releasing it with his own beat behind it on the anniversary of the Sick Boi album, so 13th October
Given that he teased this song using the original Bulgarian choir sample, I hope he bought it and uses it in the new beat as well.
Not only because I love the sample, it would be a great f you to Kujo as well.
@@NilsDum Yes, exactly. He didn't use that tease with the choir for nothing, it was a clear message that he'll still be using it without Kujo being the middleman.
Your Hi Ren reaction is the most watched out of all 1300 of them, so if anyone can support Ren, it's you. ❤
It was my introduction to Ren.
I usually ask people, "Hey! Wanna see a classical guitar playing rapper?" Usually gets people intrigued enough. 😁
1300 reactions ??!!!
hey chief! hope you are well 🙂
@@tassoskard8157Now I want to know what the Hi Ren viewcount is if you include all the reactions....
Love to see you still supporting Ren! It was your Hi Ren analysis that introduced me to him and his music, and it has completely changed my life, so THANK YOU so much!!!!!!!!!!
Ditto. First time hearing bout Rend was from her analysis of Hi Ren. His music plays a big part in me being a little over a year sober after a decade of substance abuse. His music, which I only knew about, because of this channel.
It was the other way around for me 😊
❤ from Northeast England ❤️
Samesies!
Ditto! 🙋🏼♀️
Same here
Kujo just learned the meaning of "Don't mistake my kindness for weakness "
For those who don’t know. Ren bought a beat from Kujo through Beatstars for the song Sick Boi. The contract was with his publishers and didn’t include any royalties from the master or streaming services. The Kujo wanted to get paid for his beat, but instead of talking to Ren about it he put a copyright strike on Sick Boi. Then there was a long back and forth between Ren, Kujo, and his girlfriend. Kujo was wanting a cut of the master and retroactive payments. Ren refused because of the idea that he had purchase unlimited use of the beat. Ren even went so far as to offer to do a colab with Kujo and split the proceeds just to resolve the issue. Kujo refused and the discussions deteriorated. So Ren has taken down Sick Boi, and will rerelease it with his own beats, and now is releasing a new song called Kujo Beat Down. There is more to this story and Ren tells his side of it in a very long video on his channel.
You missed Kujo being chased for an unlicensed beat in his mix
But good summary
Thank you for your summary, I haven't watched the long video (clearly) and only picked up that the dispute was about a beat but this is helpful. Cheers mate.
@@MufffyyYes! It seems that Kujo used an unlicensed sample from a choir in the beat. The choir went after Kujo for royalties then Kujo went after Ren. Now you know the significance of the choir in this beat down!
I love that you love the musical arraingments on this one! Given the subject matter of the song, Ren specifically composed the beats for this one himself!
It's more complex than that. If what Kujo claims is true (and given he has a lawyer I have to imagine is working on percentage of settlement there must be at least some real or technicality validity) Ren may have violated the contract months ago with how it was uploaded to UA-cam (Ren even admits this in his video as an honest mistake) and either that or the selections/paperwork Ren did might be why Beatstars isn't paying Kujo and why he's spent months trying to chase this with Ren's lawyer (which, despite Ren saying you should have reached out to me, I know I would reach out to celebrities representatives first and once in talks with them would assume they are passing on details to their client). In those circumstances I can understand wanting to renegotiate the contract to compensate for months of hassle, and that the promise that sometime in the future we will do a colab doesn't help with expenses right now.
This man has shown time and again that when the universe buries him in lemons, he makes some damn fine lemonade.
This is the perfect example of “don’t mistake my kindness for weakness “ and I love it!
Beware the anger of a gentle man. This is the beast Ren’s been keeping caged inside. The is the darkness he fights everyday, and he wins the fight. Most of the time😏. Man is a warrior.
Not to mention the anger of someone who struggles with such deep-rooted mental health issues.
@@TheFlagnard2 - Mental health does not make people act like this. That is determined entirely by your character.
Just listen to the lyrics in Loco...he warned mofos....these 2 didn't listen. Reap what you sow....
Don't fuck over the nice guy....cause there's a beast you don't want.....
As someone who buys stock art for a living, Ren bought the work in good faith and thus free to use what he bought. Kujo has left himself open to lawsuits.
Provenance, people. Save and back up your licences.
(I'm a tabletop roleplaying game publisher)
This is gonna be SPICY! Might want to make your cocktail a little extra strong for this one....
I find Ren really interesting. I don't really think about him as a singer or a rapper, but more just a performance artist. What he does is just art, pure and simple. Even when he is venting his anger about someone, it is just an incredible experience. A very talented individual.
Agreed. He's just an artist. He crosses over every genre and has the skill to back it up. Raw authenticity. It's badly needed in today's culture.
His talent level is off the charts. Performing, writing, singing, rapping, directing, and his equally amazing ACTING skills!
Once in a generation talent. Can't miss out on this man!
3:35 - THANK YOU, I had to listen to this track multiple times to even hear the words. I was focused on the strings and the beat. This man could back horror films.
I love, love, love the strings and the choir. Need to find out what they're chanting?
@@toria-jabsolutely love them too! Do you know what they're chanting? I couldn't figure it out
@@pandoamessi4079 there's a lot of theories - a whole thread on R*ddit and a few on Fb about it - something along the lines of 'you stole the sample you selfish thief' maybe. I can't tell. Audio Lunch did isolate some of the vocals though.
Thanks for supporting Ren! Much appreciated!
Thank you for supporting Ren 🌻🤍⚖️
You rock, Elizabeth!Thank you for supporting Ren ❤️ I will meet you all here tomorrow
🫖☕
I guess you don't really know anger until someone goes FULL ORCHESTRAL on your a**! LOL
This was epic cinematic evil - much like the use of _'Oh Fortuna'_ in the movie Omen! I thought that the hidden 'chorus line' audience watching it all unfold from the darkness, was a beautiful nod to public nature of internet beefs. SO well done!
Ren portrays his raw anger and frustration so adeptly that it translates immediately. This piece is adrenal... absolutely visceral... and I'm sure he must have got huge catharsis out of it!
We get to see yet another side of Rens performance - and once again, he absolutely nails it!
Kujo, if you're watching man, it's time to reach out and repair this. You just broke one of the nicest most upright guys in music. Words have failed so far, so Rens *showing* you the frustration he feels - but, if I know Ren, one genuine word from you could still fix this.
Do the right thing man. Let's put this to bed.
A Thursday video and support for another artist, that's how it should be and not to pay a regiment of lawyers who search the Internet like hyenas for alleged copyright offenders!
I love how the artistic community has solidified itself behind Ren. Your support as a person who feels more mainstream Ren might be - so validating. Mad Respect!
Thank you for supporting Ren . I literally cant wait for tomorrow!!
So glad to see you joining the cause! I knew you would be an amazing supporter ❤.
I saw you in the live chat at the premier of this track of Rens Elizabeth. I LOVED that, to see you there supporting him that way :) Thank you for the love you show so openly for Ren, same with Justin Hawkins, he's just dropped a video where hes explained a little about the whole story about Kujo and will be reviewing the beat down too !
Here after the Knox Hill reaction, love the support you guys are all giving to Ren! As a music enthusiast myself, other than always wanting to defend people's rights, I truly appreciate your work on this topic - thanks ❤️
So amazing for you to do this, Elizabeth. Really, I am certain it means a lot to Ren. I am seeing all of the reactors putting out their videos and I am imagining a very emotional Ren for all of the support. He has EARNED it.
The string arrangement on this, Elizabeth, oh my God, it slays me, I'm with you!
I love the quick frames where it’s Kujo in the chair, then ren, then the pig mask, then Kujo again (I love that Ren thought to include himself as tied up too bc he showed so much restraint in this situation in trying to come to a solution). I love how reactors are bringing context to this video so there can be no doubt as to Ren’s authenticity & motive behind expressing his anger at this situation. As always- wonderful reaction, bringing our attention to some of the musical elements we wouldn’t otherwise notice because we are intertwined in the drama- the lyrics etc. ❤
I love you so much for doing this ❤
I found him through your reaction to 'Hi Ren' and since then I've been hooked. He speaks truth and isn't afraid to say what others won't in popular media. His mental health message also really speaks to me. Thank you for supporting all these wonderful artists!
I absolutely love how tight knit the community is, the flowers, shoutouts to each other and rallying of support for Ren.
All my fave channels acknowledging and supporting one other.
Even if this song's tone isn't your cup of tea, PLEASE revisit the Ren rabbit hole. So many incredible songs you haven't reacted to yet. Just for starters (these include singing, not just rapping):
How to Be Me
Humble
Crutch
Ready for You
Diazepam
Heretic
Lost All Faith
Okay, I'll stop, but seriously, you can't miss, and his fanbase will flood to you!
Unless you have a spare few hours don't visit the rabbit hole lol
I watched Hi Ren, at about 11pm one night, I was still watching Rens work 5hrs later lol
Wow! So happy to see you react to this (and so promptly as well)! It's brilliant how Ren included the live choir (and not a stolen choir sample). A jab without words. Love it. Sick Boi (mean Ren) sounds really deranged, esp with the strings & that electricity sound. Great breakdown. I love that you're able to focus on so much beyond the lyrics. Unique. 💛
Content creators that support ren are getting my support as well. Thank you. I'm watching your ads in full. Liking and commenting on the video. Already a subscriber.
I'm sooo happy to see another reaction to Ren on your channel. Love it! It's always nice to hear your explanations about the voice and how it's used. I'd love to see your reaction to "back to 74/message in a bottle" at some point.
Thank you Elizabeth! You're a good human 🤗
Thank you for doing this, Elizabeth, it's good to draw attention to these things.
Congratulations with the Kickstarter success so far! 😊
You are so correct on your opinion of RENs talent, vision and cinematic prowess. He and his team really could and should make a full length feature movie. He is a talent who surrounds himself with talent. This production is so effective: dramatic musical score, the choir, special capture of lighting contrasts, camera work, and the ultra-rawness and fierceness of our angry visionary, Sick Boi! Thank you for showing your support of REN! It means so much to the RENegade community as a whole 🐇🕳️🖤Big Love! We stand with REN 100% Honor and Respect.
Small detail, but the fact that the gag on Kujo is red, like Ren’s boiler suit. Not to mention the symbolism with red, but black tape is what you usually see in media, for victims of kidnapping. So, the tape being red like the suit emphasises that Kujo is being silenced by REN’s emotions but not by force. It also hints that Kujo is not a victim.
Obviously, it may just be for colour matching, but that’s how it seemed to me.
Red tape was the only one-up Kujo appeared to think he had on Ren-ensnaring him in legal technicalities. Now the tables have been turned in this art piece!
Thank you for explaining the beef about Sick Boi, cause I didnt have thr patience to plunge through the drama. So it all boils down to over-reaching and envy over Ren's genius and staggering originality, eloquence and passion. Im proud Ren figured out how to 'jump over' this theiving pygmy and rendef him irrelevant. Now this musical response from Ren is the BEST retribution possible. What do his fan can themselves: Renegades? Well, that tracks. I'm SO grateful I stumbled into Ren's World. Great analysis, Elizabeth.
I believe that you would really enjoy Ren and Sam Tompkins “Blind Eyed” MC sessions. Best version by far! 🙏💚
Thank you so much, Elizabeth and team ❤️
Where in Hi Ren the positive side takes control at the end, this time the positive side just had to say 'F*** it'. Sometimes you just have to let that bad boy out whether you want to or not. I thought the condescending pat on the head at the end was priceless. Legally, Ren was sold a broken product. Trying to then demand more money from it just beggars belief. I think he's lucky that Ren is a nice guy because this could have been a lot worse. Like Hi Ren, another piece of flawless performance art with spectacular direction and filming. Making something positive again from a dark experience - luckily for ****, that's Ren's M.O. or ****'d be counting the cost in court.
Thanks for supporting Ren! I can't wait to see his video, and I can't wait to see your analysis.
the warning shot heard around the world. Ren is giving Kujo one last chance to squash this
thank you for doing this, super excited to watch your analysis!
The King of Brighton has returned to reclaim what was taken from him
The cool thing about the internet, once you put something out there it’s forever. Sickboi is still out there to be found for those looking.
Wow, this must of taken a whole lot of work and preparation, a reaction video every day of this week! On top of launching a non profit and a Kickstarter campaign to fund it!
I love Ren. He is such an genuine artist and really tries the best out of shitty situations as it seems. I really live how he brought orchestra, classic elements, choir and rap together. I would not want to be the person that plays kujo and his gf.
He is such a good actor as well.
Thank you Elizabeth for supporting Ren. I also appreciate you keeping to your strength while pointing bar/lyric analysis to Knox or Black Pegasus (Anthony Ray as well) and others. I love your vocal analysis especially connecting his anger sounds/vocals to harsh vocals.
BTW I knew absolutely knew you would connect the choir bits to opera. It just seems very operatic to me and with your background well…
Elizabeth, the string piece you are thinking of is Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki's "Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima" which he wrote in 1960. Its original title was 8'37" (a reference to John Cage's famous silent piece, 4'33", which had premiered in 1952). Then Penderecki changed the title to "Tren" which means "Threnody" in English. And then he changed the title again to the title it retains today "Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima", though he's clear that this title came after the piece was already composed and that the music was not directly inspired by or directly a response to the bombing of Hiroshima. Whatever you call it, it's a great piece that evokes horror and anger better than most. You have a sharp ear to make the connection between the strings in Ren's song and Penderecki's classic so quickly.
I cannot wait for this! The song and your rection are both destined to be epic! ;)
REN’s Righteous RAGE…it’s glorious ❤ thank you for understanding the awesome importance of expressing anger when it’s justified.
Thank you for this. I know you will have something worthwhile to offer. Kudos.
thank you for answering the call to review this as quickly as possible.
Elizabeth... I wish I had the words to express this better. You shine a light on so many artists that I love and I just appreciate your approach and having a moral compass as well as a keen ear for talent. I am grateful for your presence in this world, no matter how heavy I feel you force me to feel lighter and see the lighter more beautiful side. You embody art itself.
There’s a part of that 30 minute video that did about this where he’s talking about bringing the song down from UA-cam and you can see him visually getting choked up he can’t maintain eye contact with the camera. His voice starts to crack and you can hear the lump in his throat. It’s also the expression of his face to the point where he’s almost in tears. It’s heartbreaking to know what this guy has been through in his life having also suffered myself with severe health issues to have something taken from you would suck so bad, I feel for Ren. Deeply.
I knew you'd have the breakdown of all the instrumentals and the amazing production of this track, bringing attention to more than the lyrics which are also incredible and important. I do fall in love with music more every day in part thanks to your analyses!
You know you've made it when you are getting pre-access to new Ren 🥰
I think he is mastered, acting singing, wrapping producing and cinematography to another level
IT'S TODAY! Argh! Looking forward to your reaction, Elizabeth!
❤
Thank you for taking the time to watch the video about this, and chime in with educated commentary on the situation.
Would love to see you cover “Back on 74”….LOTS of vocal variety in that one, including some spectacular backup singers.
Love you, Elizabeth. Thank you for supporting our boi ❤
The third reaction video ive watched. Great analysis. On to the fourth.
This will be interesting. Same day reaction too.
Ren was gracious enough to let me have an advanced copy to ensure I could get this out timely. He's an amazing artist, and I really, really respect his work ethic!
@@TheCharismaticVoice That makes sense. Yes he is. He's an all around good guy too. I know several people that have met him and no one has ever had a negative thing to say about him or his art.
Thank you so much for continuing to support Ren. Amazing analysis as always, have learned so much from you! ❤
I found Ren through your videos, thanks for that, he's an incredible artist.
I watched Ren's release the second it aired and I love your response, too, for not only is it as energetic and enthusiastic as usual but also you've analysed so many different aspects that other reactors haven't done. Great!
This quote came to mind: "Hurt an artist, and you'll see masterpieces of what you've done."
I hope Ren takes his time and turns SickBoi into something even better. It would be beautiful revenge.
Adore you, btw. I just love how he is vocally, instrumentally, lyrically, physically, illustrating that humans are also animals. easy to forget. there is a primal inescapable piece of being a human animal no matter how skilled and determined we are to exist beyond it. There are just moments where, time after time of trying to be that "person," just ends with unbridled frustration that needs to be seen/expressed etc....it is immensely necessary and cathartic.

Thank you for doing this ❤
I dont think ive ever seen a community so solidly around a single person ever. Thr outpouring of love and respect for Ren is amazing
I'm anticipating your reaction almost as much as the original video.
I've been watching these reactions all day and the support for Ren is incredible. One of the things about life that I find so hopeless is the fact that everywhere you look, evil prospers. I don't mean that in the biblical sense, I mean that everyone says what goes around comes around but I never see it. I just see injustice and people doing shitty things and karma never biting them in the ass. It hurts my heart to see what happened to Ren and this isn't perfect justice, which would have been Kujo never doing the copywrite strike and Kujo taking responsibility for the part he stole from the choir, or even Kujo doing the right thing at any point after. But seeing how Ren handled this from start to finish and seeing how the community has backed Ren and stood by him is a sort of justice. Im so sorry it came to this but it's inspiring to see how Ren took the high road and then poured his pain and anger into his art.
Dis Track? No no. This was Dis Theater!
You're great for supporting Ren! He deserves all the recognition. One of my favorite artists currently.
Ren is an amazing artist and set the record straight. PROPER to have the disclaimer at the end to emphasize he doesn't condone bullying or anger.
Your reactions and the reactions of others in the Ren world always always point out something that I miss the first time
Thank you for your perspectives!
