Also if you want to smash throw the bomb while dashing forward (normally you will get tilt throw) then you do run cancel (hold down) then C-stick forward.

OMG! You're right. A lot of hidden potential and as you said, there's many other things to master. Down tilt, down air's meteor, down angles of his boomerang, etc... I think I'll give him a chance in some incoming online tournaments.
YL won't win a major because he'll never beat the top tier characters in neutral. Axe is by far the best YL out there, and I just don't see him taking a set off a top level player going straight YL. It's not like AmSa with Yoshi where he mastered an under-utilized technique which took his neutral game to another level, covering up some of his glaring weaknesses. I agree with Rishi and YL is a rush down character, but he's just not as good at it as the spacies, Falcon or Sheik, and he consequently struggles in those match-ups.

Joker.
Compared to Yink Joker has:
- A slightly slower initial dash
- Fair bit faster run.
-Worse projectiles for space control
- Better combo game and damage for a much better punish game
- Better recovery
- An actual grab game that combos and sets up for edgegaurds
- Less disjointed attacks
- More range from the combination of his longer limbs and hurtbox shifting
- Better recovery by a fair bit
And even with all that, he is considered high tier at best by most pros.
Only bumping up to top tier because of Arsen comes in the help him get those kills and occasionally make comebacks.
So no wonder Yink isn't a great rushdown.
How about zoning?
Someone quite close to him is Samus in that respect.
Samus has:
- A projectile that kills by itself
- A way better grab and throw combo game
- Does a lot more damage
- Has way more kill options
- Can tank more because of her weight
- More mixups on her recovery
So no matter which way Yink wants to play, there are other characters better at doing that job than he is.
Same thing goes in Melee just with less concrete comparisons.
He's a jack of multiple trades, mediocre at all of them. That's a fair bit off from Melee top tiers who can do multiple things to adapt to the opponents style and play around their options much more than Yink while still being able to win.
Jigglypuff could also be considered a rush down character, because she rushes down to the ledge and times you out
