Boost View: really liked the ski, however I do think that my net gain (more power put down due to stability LESS extra sluggishness cf. Swordy) was marginally negative.
Am now keen to try the Carbonology Zest LV which has a lower seat
Felix: "Luso-German" = Portuguese-German (I don't know the origin of the Luso part ?)
Sorry, I messed up the spelling in the video with "Luco" instead of "Luso"
Subscription Story:
Once the channel hits 1000 subscribers, which should be soon, the channel will start earning $, the first 1000 USD per month of which, is committed to the NSRI.
The Channel will need to be somewhere between x10 and x100 bigger to be earning that sort of money per month but every $ for the NSRI counts !
The channel has over 7000 cumulative watch hours which is 3000 more than the 4000 requirement. Had the channel had 1000 subscribers from 6 months ago, it would already have earned circa 3000 U$D or nearly ZAR 60 000.00 for the NSRI !

Nice one mate, great paddling and what a save.
thanks Richard !
Great paddling and excellent footage Richard. Keep up the great work!
thank you Nick !
Looked much more comfortable in a boost . Great ski with all round good stability and comfort . Swordfish is not a slow boat . But great ski as it puts you on a level closer to the elite skis on flatter water also
Thanks Timothy.
Looks so clean compared to what we paddle in on the drum line in Perth.
hi Ben, When the swell and wind line up it can be awesome but that does not happen very often. A few days before this, a whole bunch of guys and gals completed a "Wilson" (10 Millers Runs in a day = 120km of paddling plus all the logistics in between - an AWESOME feat) and on this day the conditions were really cooking (of course I was not there to experience nor capture it !)
Richard, we can always use more 1st hand downwinding comparisons across the wide range of surfskis. Keep them coming! (I have a little reservation about early impressions before significant time has been spent in an unfamiliar surfski. I have read a number of reviews where authors changed their opinion about a surfski after spending more time in it. Of course, how much time do you have actually available and how many different surfskis long term available?) Are you considering keeping more than one surfski for a range of conditions, ultimately? Our local paddlers call their stable boats for the hairier part of their paddling condition ranges their "phat" boats.
hi Paul, Yes, very good point about duration of time before you can form a solid opinion. I initially did not like my XTS, then grew to love it, and now that i am relatively stable in the Swordy, am again experiencing problems in it with secondary stability due to seat height.
Ps: I will send you a WhatsApp message today on the other matter
and yes, it is my plan to have at least 2 skis for the sea, and then i also have an old Elite that i use for flat water training
Excellent ride Rich😊
Seems that this ski allows for more stability and less bracing, although a bit less maneuverability?
It's the first time on it, so after a few tries you'll have a better range of sensations from it.
Even though marginally less fast, how about fun and relaxation indexes?
Is "Luco" from Italian heritage🤔❓
Good points Josue thank you. Yes, I felt totally relaxed in it. But am starting to feel that way in my Swordy too ! My mate Mark has given me the green light to use at anytime. I am however keen to try the Carbonology Zest Low Volume which has a lower seat than the regular model.
"Luco": As I recall his Dad is Portuguese and his Mom is German. I did a (quick) google search on the origin of the word "Luco" but, no luck.
@@ForbesRichard You're welcome 👍 Another point to consider alongside speed could be heart rate. And the subjective feeling of comfort on each ski.
Time will tell! And let's see how that Zest works...Enjoy 👍
Luco sounds like part of my own second name, Luca 🤔
Looks like you went much better on that stable boat compared to your Swordy, but was that just the editing? See you on Friday evening for SeaDog, you will be a much better downwinder when you paddle in a broader range of conditions 💪
hi Dave, so I think that the editing approach has been fairly equal. You have made me think though that in these conditions on my Swordy I probably would have done some wallowing. Overall time seemed to be about the same (based on times of others nearby as I did not clock it). On the variety of conditions issue: I admire a man who is persistent ! 👊
Awesome stuff. What speeds are you hitting?
Thanks JP. Speed: I dont' know as don' use a gps device but will shortly be getting one. (one can get it off the gopro but only if you use the gopro editing software which I do not use)
correction: Speed: I don't know as I don't use...
World I’ve only known from the outside looking in… 😊
Remind me Tom, what is your primary sport ?
@@ForbesRichard Bike racing. Just starting fast sea kayaking this year.
Motor bike racing ? Am keen to see some videos ! (but I see nada on your channel)@@tommyrq180
@@ForbesRichard Bicycle racing. Road, mountain, gravel. I don’t have a channel. I’m old!
