Once the channel hits 1000 subscribers, which should be soon, the channel will start earning $, the first 1000 USD per month of which, is committed to the NSRI. (The Channel will need to be somewhere between x10 and x100 bigger to be earning that sort of money per month but every $ for the NSRI counts !)
    2.Crispin’s Technology Link: arcaqua.com
Regrettably I spelt Crispin's name incorrectly (I spelt it as Crispian) Sorry, Crispin 🙈
3.Correction: I said that Kenny’s time was 39 minutes to the “lighthouse” and what I intended to say was the to the "FHSC" (our regular club) which is actually a longer line than finishing at the Life Saving Club which can shave precious seconds.
    4.Spanish Translation:
“It is that this woman has “big balls” to be doing the Millers Run in these conditions esp. since she is doing it in an Elite ski ! (MUCH more difficult to remount)
The reason, that applies to Kira also, is that women need more courage to be out here in these conditions because they have, normally, less strength in their arms and consequently, a remount is more difficult for them to do”
5.R52 850 for the NSRI, “wasted” to date: this is based on the assumption that the channel will be earning approx. 1 USD for every hour of watch time once it reaches 1000 subscribers. This 1USD amount is a ChatGBT estimate which may well differ significantly from the way in which the YT algorithm actually assigns earnings rates to the channel.

One more sub for you. (I am so jealous of SA paddlers while I paddle in the UK)

One of these days I'll get onto a ski. It's near the top of my bucket list. Before doing so I must think of two things to add to my bucket list, one of those rules I have put in place for myself in order to never reach the end of my bucket list. 😉🤣

Now you have got me completely foxed 😆. Just get into that ski, pronto !!

@@ForbesRichard My way of putting off kicking the bucket. I need to find and buy a ski, but they are a rare animal around here. I have my eye on one. If it's still on the market come payday ...

I just put in my order for my new big-water ski, the Carbonology Boost Low Volume and do hope that yours is still available for you come $ day 👊

@@ForbesRichard Excellent! Mine will be quite modest and heavy as far as skis go because I want plastic. I'm rough and paddle in rough places.
I do have an old ski that I picked up as a restoration project. 14.5 kg, 5.7m long and 440mm wide. It could be as old as late 70's and was about to be crushed by an excavator and folded into a skip. Certainly looks like the ones I would see occasionally on the water when rowing in the late 70's.

14.5kg for the 70's is very good going ! I think that my glass fibre XTS (2 yrs old) is a bit heavier than that

Glad you learnt the lesson about average speed being better than top speed...I learnt that from Mark Lewin a while ago - he is an absolute master at keeping momentum and most of the time chooses not to catch the big waves for the exact reason Davey explained to you.

Perhaps a bit too early for me Dave, to bank as a lesson !

Could you please do a video about your camera setup. The mounting positions you have found to work. Experience with cameras. Dealing with audio on the water. The limits you may have overcome or accepted with filming. Thanks

For sure Gidian. Just a heads up that it will go into the pipeline as I have another 2 that I plan to do first.

Waiting in anticipation for the “Donald Trump” remount. I would have guessed that this method doesn’t exist as he would lie about ever needing to remount as he is the best paddler in the world who has never capsized.

Richard, love the videos but its painful to watch your technique curb your performance.
If you soften your grip into an Ok sign you will improve your catch to an earlier position closer to the gunnel, provided you unlock your knees to aid rotation to swivel in the seat and start the stroke sooner to rotate without dragging your blade behind you (creates instability) but instead lift away into a j pattern to help your set up with your top hand at ear level creating an L shape.

Jamii, thanks again for your considered feedback. I have come to the painful realisation that I am going to have to put the effort in to re-build my stroke. (I tried to do so a while back but made zero progress). What is an "OK" grip ? I would appreciate if you would send me a photo to richardf@epapartners.co.za OR richard.hrexec@gmail.com. 🙏

Thumb and forefinger around the shaft with last three fingers up and away from the shaft. 👌 See, they even have an emoji for it! 😊 PS: your technique is not painful to watch for me, quite the opposite. I love your desire to improve but where you’re at is impressive and certainly high-performing. And FWIW, using the OK symbol in paddling is, well, debatable. It’s just a technique to moderate your grip at different points in the stroke. You don’t see, for example, Lisa Carrington using the OK grip, but to each his own. You and I don’t have lats like Dame Lisa, either! 😅😊

thanks for the interest and support Tom. Yep, let's see where this new grip takes me. At the very least I should spend less time in callous control !@@tommyrq180
