Fantastic keyboard, and is also hot-swappable, which means you can use this keyboard forever if you want to change the switches or replace broken ones...
I just ordered this keyboard as my first mechanical keyboard ever. I've used a traditional cheap logitech for past 20 years. When you compare this to Akko however, keep in mind that there are some users who need ISO layout and maybe even more specific ISO Nordic etc. AFAIK Akko doesn't make those. So I went with K8 Pro.
Thats especially true when you're German, like I am. I need the specific German-ISO profile, which outside of the big company almost no one offers. ä ö ü ß
How did you end up liking it after a few months of use? I just ordered this to replace my old Razer Blackwidow v3. I ended up going with the RGB aluminum backplate with K pro banana switches. I'm waiting for it to ship to me currently.
@@CliffArmijo I love it. The sound of the key strokes is amazing. The built quality is excellent. Only thing that I might criticise is how tall it is. I made a wristrest for it so that fixed that.
Without knowing anything about mechanical keyboards, I blindly bought the k8 pro with brown switches. Later, After hearing how the blue switches sound and trying the low profiles on colleagues setup, and now using the k8 for over 6 months, I can happily say these are perfect balance in any way. The creamy sound, the nice design, in a decent price is a perfect balance. Really a good buy.
Started my mechanical keyboard journey 2.5 years ago with Keychron K2 - I needed a wireless keyboard for my Macbook and it was the only one that provided that functionality. 2 years later I got RK84 Pro based on your recommendation and moded it (filled enclosure with felt foam, added foam pad between plate and PCB, tape mod, lubed stabs, PBT keycaps). It's working great, but I was having some issues with Bluetooth on Mac (some users also encountered this) from time to time as well as customization was a bit janky on Mac. I got a Kickstarter notification from Keychnron, watched this video, and pre-ordered. Just received it and MAN, IT'S GOOD! Looking to this as my first MKB. Is there a reason why you choose red over brown? I heard browns are best for general use. However I heard that Gateron browns are scratchy rather than a true tactile, so should I just get the reds then buy a higher quality tactile later?
Absolutely! Browns are okay, but they really aren't a heavy enough bump to really feel it, if you want a tactile I'd recommend upgrade to akko lavender purples later on, they are very budget friendly at around $10 for a 45 pack so in total $20 to replace the switches on this board. But yes, I would definitely go for the reds to start. Really hope this helps!

Had this keyboard for about a year, loved it, but yesterday it blew up. I didn't think keyboards could blow up but hey ho!. it was on charge and the RGB lights went haywire flashing red n yellow like fire and it was making audible popping sounds like the chips were burning. now its stuck with A to J lit redish yellow and cant reset it, keys don't register maybe if I hit a key 5 times it will, managed to do the firmware update but still the same. just an epic death/failure. I've ordered a different keyboard to come today, later I will disassemble this and try unplugging the internal battery. I was charging it whilst using BT with my 120W GAN charger from the wall and 100W cable.............. Think it may have been that?
Hello! recently found your vids and am trying to decide between two keyboards-the ducky one two TKL or the keychron k8. i really like both but idk which one to go with. I play FPS games like r6 and warzone so which is the better option?
I just ordered the blues, only based on a sound test. Currently I have cherry browns and wanted something more clicky, so... I suppose I made a terrible decision? :D
So what's wrong with the brown switch? You weren't clear on what is wrong with them. I know they don't have much of a bump but besides that, why are they bad?
Hmmm... So I got the RGB Pro Blue Switch version from Amazon and it states that they are pre-lubed. I am looking forward to getting this and hoping the foam and silicone layers tame down the clicky tones a bit. I received it and it is very heavy, especially compared to my C1, but I was not happy with it at all. The Blue Switches did not even sound that clicky, there was really no unique sound at all that makes us Keyboard Enthusiasts happy. It sounded very dampened and quiet, like all the sound was getting sucked into the very condense case that they built for this.
Why would you lube blue switches as a "keyboard enthustiasts"? It just kills the sound. And no, the blue switches are not pre-lubed for the reasons stated above.
Could you maybe take a look at the QK 65 from qwertykeys? It's quite a bit more expensive than e.g. the akko 3068b but from what I heard it has a great value too...
I do hope they end up making pro variants of their other k keyboards like the K2 or K4. I am personally really hoping for a K4 Pro because 96% keyboards are very much under represented in the Keyboard scene.
Those would be nice. Having a numpad while only being a tiny bit wider than a TKL is great. And 75% boards have near-TKL functionality while being only one row taller than a 65%. It's weird that TKL and 65%'s seem to get all the attention. I'm sure that the rest of the line will be getting Pro versions...all of the hard work is already done, they just need to make the alternate layouts instead of designing something almost entirely new like the K8 Pro.
I just ordered the K8 pro red switch, it hasn't arrived yet. Do you guys think I should add foam inside the board to "mod" it? This is going to be my first decent keyboard
I was thinking of getting the keyboard, wasn't really sure of it, don't really need it.. but you sold it to me alright.. got in on amazon 3 mins into your vid
Do you mean for this board or switches in general. For this board the reds are going to be the quietest. If you're meaning switches in general, linear switches and boards with a ton of dampening. Besides that there are silent switches which had a rubber bottom out.
I have a question: I really want a smooth board and a nice feeling. I have budget of 100$ i want one board but which one do you think is better? The akko 3068b or this one. Can you pls response?
