Old Pocket Knife Restoration, Old Timer Mariner's Knife

In this video I am restoring an old rusty marine knife. This knife was made around the 30s or 40s of the last century. The pocket knife is heavily covered in rust and dirt. The first steps in restoring an old rusty pocketknife will be to completely disassemble it. Removal of rust, elimination of deformations. Removing rust with vinegar. Leveling and removing rust residues with sandpaper. Production of new wooden overlays for the handle of a pocket knife. I hope you liked my restoration of an old rusty pocket knife.

Hi! what metal do you use for the metal stiks to hold the knife together? Im trying to use stainless steel sticks but they are very very hard, no mater how hard I hit them with the hammer, they won't get flat. Nice video!

Hello, stainless steel rods need to be released on the fire at the ends, then they will become softer. I use regular steel, pre-hardened a little. Thank you for your gratitude.

Ich habe ein ähnliches Messer von meinem Großvater geerbt. Als ich es zum Schärfen brachte, sagte der Messerschleifer: „Oh, ein altes Soldatenmesser!“. Ich habe keine Idee, wo es mein Großvater her hatte, das Messer hat auch keinen Stempel.
