Sounds awesome! Part of his tone came from his paly style, even finger position and techniques. Dimes tone is probably one of the most "wanted to duplicate" of all time. People have to keep in mind he was so huge, allot of his gear was custom made specifically for him, he basically had a non existent budget for gear and equipment, manufacturers most likely begged him to use there stuff, and further more to allow them to make sometimes priceless gear for him. How incredible this must have been. Dimes collection of guitars is one of the most amazing I've seen, and when Rita showed them off, it was only a small portion of them, which at the time was 30 or 40. From what I saw, there were multiple rooms full of one of a kind guitars(mostly saw cases). To this day dimes "Dean from hell" is by far the most iconic and recognizable guitar in history.
I am just completely mind blown. You have got Dimebag's guitar settings to a T, dude. If Dimebag saw this, he would be totally Ef'n impressed with you, dude. :)
Man I've personally been searching for a classic Marshall 8100 for a long time now but they either end up dead/in absolute SHIT condition or waaaay too expensive for what they are (at least here in my country)
Try to jump the effekt loop with a patch cable. I had a problem with a used amp and it sounded pretty much like this, jumping the FX loop helped and since then I never had a problem with the amp again.
I see someone already mentioned plugging a patch cable in the effects loop. Just FYI all amps with an effects loop can have this happen. The 1/4 inch jacks get oxidation on them when not in use and it can short the signal out. Consistently plugging in and out of jacks stops that oxidation from forming.
his gear, 'blue' 6 band eq, Furman PQ4 and Randall RG100HT really creates his sound regardless of pick ups almost, the l500xl gives the extra bite, and if you had the flanger/doubler in there, it would be kickass! this sounds so god damned good man, wow.
Even though it doesn't sound exactly like dime i thought it pretty close. This will probably be one of the only videos I have seen where someone comes close to dimes tone. Great job man
God bless Ole Englund!!!! He has got Dimebags up stroke mastered!!! If Pantera ever did some kind of "reunion" (R.I.P. Dime) Ole is the only one that could do the guitar parts justice.
That was awesome, sir. It's not very often that you see a piece of gear crap out in a demo video, so it was cool to see that it even happens to the pros. That being said, it did sound pretty decent. I'd imagine another factor would be the kind of cabs & speakers he was running the amp through as well. I'd wager that the Hesu cab you have might have better speakers that what he had access to back in the day. Again, it was very cool of you to upload, even though it didn't turn out like you had hoped.
Whenever people get on forums and slam Dime's tone, I immediately discount their opinion. His tone CRUSHED, and there hasn't been a guitarist as influential since. Cool vid, dude \m/
It was just unique. That's the first thing I remember thinking about it when I heard Pantera. I was a kid that had just started trying to learn guitar and I immediately recognized that tone was different. I loved it at the time. It sounded like a chainsaw and that was super cool to me. I wouldn't play with it today, but I'm not Dime. It suited a lot of great albums and a great player.
Street Samurai and part of what made it so great is how he tied in with Vinnie and Rex. Fav Dime tones were either Strength Beyond Strength or Becoming. SOooo thick
I know that this is an old video and stuff but still have to say that I think this sounds wicked and authentic as hell. It's a shame the amplifier crapped out at the end.
got all of these and yeah gives a killer tone very modulable with mxr eq and parametric eq. All of theses gives a lot of possibility of tone with high gain adding MXR-126 flanger doubler sounds insane. Sad your amp cracked until end of video, i hope it's repared now :) great vid !
Hi,Ola I also repaired this amp, but I think the cause of the malfunction is probably due to the plastic deterioration of the jack switch in the return portion of the Send return. Although it is temporarily solved by putting a cable in the send return, it is likely that the sound will not appear again because the plastic that secures the metal fittings is spoiled. We recommend you to replace Jack at the repair shop.
Have to mention that the end of video remind me dimebag "lost" lesson when he just broke amp and start "repair" it with just punching it. Hell, maybe you have to try it, in dimebag style!
I paused this vid, poured a black tooth, then carried on watching!!, you missed out one important piece of equipment........the immortal pink beard!!. Great vid ola, better luck next time with the amp. All the beast matey!
That is incredible. If you ever revisit this rig with another demo I’d love to hear how it sounds bypassing the EQs and then introducing each one in to make the sound transform. Good stuff!
It's when you hear someone else play Dimes riffs but you realize how damn good he really was nobody can jam that shit like he did not even close not even you Ola and you're a badass 🤘
Ola, you were cracking me up in this vid! I had a chance to meet you last time you were at Sweetwater, but I was too busy on the sales floor to come down and say hi. Wish I could have! Cheers!
Well, while it still worked, it was fucking sick. Let's just pretend the spirit of Dime was flowing through the amp, and it just tore itself apart from the sheer power.
Awesome video dude. Love the Dime videos. I thought you nailed it in your previous video with the RG1503 and Fortin Grind. So much so that I bought both 🤘
the timbre of the tone, the shape, the attack, the solid state...ness.... its all there. i think the difference, other than you not being dime (though not for lack of trying, you F'n nailed it) might be the cab? obviously yours sounds good, but it isn't the same. solid video.
I feel like every person who tries to mimic the Dime sound just can't ever seem to nail it down but it sounded pretty killer nonetheless. Well done man, hopefully you can get that Amp head working again for further testing. Just don't sneeze!
Cool to see the the blue Randall amps...Vivian Campbell used 2 of those for rhythm and lead, as well as a Furman PQ3 for clean into 2 Randall power amps on the WS 1987 tour :)
My RG100ht has that exact same problem. The red channel comes on but at whisper quiet volume. I am hoping that patch cable in the effects loop trick works
The one video we've ALL been hoping for!!!!!! Dime settings online? Anyone have a link? How's the solo setup sound? Thinking Cowboys or Cemetery Gates..
Dimebag saw you playing his rig with your signature guitar instead of his and he shut it down? Haha. Cool video though, brother. thanks for doing this!
I have this amp and I found out this issue was actually the connectors on the board inside going to the fx loop. At least mine were really finnicky and if you moved them slightly all the tone would disappear, but you could tell the poweramp was still working cause it would click occasionally as loud as the volume was set
As crazy as it sounds do you use a power conditioner? Keep the power and current consistent with the needs of the said amplifier. Love the video and love what you do man. I actually lol'd when you sneezed and the amp decided to stop working when I first saw it. Talk about temperamental haha.
Greetings from Russia, Ola. I have similar equipment randall rg80es and Randall warhead first Gen, mxr Blue six band and cheap parametric equalizer. As far as I know, Darrel used Furman pq3 for Trendkill. Good luck!
Thanks guys, if you like the video please SUBSCRIBE to my channel so I can bring you more videos.
ola if dime were alive what amps would he play
I do have a randall century 200II But its not for sale.
Ola Englund
Done. Thnks.
I must be confused. I remember reading somewhere mids on the amp was cranked and scooped with the EQ. Either way still sounded pretty awesome ola.
Awesome work my friend
Great stuff, man!

Even the videos that u think suck r actually gold
I am just completely mind blown. You have got Dimebag's guitar settings to a T, dude. If Dimebag saw this, he would be totally Ef'n impressed with you, dude. :)
Your soooo right! On the other hand, if someone nailed the EVH or Rhodes tone he would be way impressed, he’s such a fan!
Nah I respectfully disagree. I have yet to see someone nail Dimebag tone perfectly. I think the only one who could do it was Dimebag himself.
Please do this with the Chuck Schuldiner gear!
Hell yes
Damn 😂😂
Chuck just used a Marshall...at least that's what i read some where..on some interview
waratthewarfield yeah but it's impossible to find
Man I've personally been searching for a classic Marshall 8100 for a long time now but they either end up dead/in absolute SHIT condition or waaaay too expensive for what they are (at least here in my country)

Tried it now not thinking it would do anything. BUT FUCK ME IN MY EYEBALL IT WORKED!
Ola Englund get this man a cake
Adam Cogan Or a meat sauce
Calls for an update video next week maybe!
Rotten*Sludge exactly, had the same problem with my old valvestate 8200!
Dimebags tone is a very big playing factor in his tone. Agreed
Carey West Toneception 🤯
Tone IS in the the hands!
Yeah he would've sounded the same on a 1 string spade guitar :/
@@WhiteNoiseStudio86 Maybe 10% of it.
Maybe if you’re trying to replicate and copy his playing exactly then yeah it’s a big part otherwise it’s not very important
You sounded pissed off in the intro. Perfect Pantera mood to be honest..........
Dead Hand Blues get that FUCKING camera out of my face!!
austin conaway you don’t want any doughnuts?

I can hear it. There’s a characteristic to the high end that’s unmistakable. Awesome
Ola, amazing work man. Glad you released this regardless of the technical difficulties! \M/
Even though it doesn't sound exactly like dime i thought it pretty close. This will probably be one of the only videos I have seen where someone comes close to dimes tone. Great job man
10:20 Sounds exactly like I'm Broken
God bless Ole Englund!!!! He has got Dimebags up stroke mastered!!! If Pantera ever did some kind of "reunion" (R.I.P. Dime) Ole is the only one that could do the guitar parts justice.
Thank you for keep Dime rocking on in my life!
"Look at me now. I'm broken" -The amp

This is a AHHHMAZING video....... i have been diving into your old videos. new to the world of Ola
It's very close, and without the flanger/doubler. Your playing ability doesn't hurt either ! That Dime guitar looks insane. Thanks Ola !
At least we have the video. I will always support you. Love you ola.
Amazing Soo glad to see people like u keeping this alive like u dime inspired me so much in my younger years RIP DIMEBAG
Whenever people get on forums and slam Dime's tone, I immediately discount their opinion. His tone CRUSHED, and there hasn't been a guitarist as influential since. Cool vid, dude \m/

I know that this is an old video and stuff but still have to say that I think this sounds wicked and authentic as hell. It's a shame the amplifier crapped out at the end.
HEY! I am really hoping you read this. But you should do a comparison with the actual dime rig and the RG1003 setup to see how close you got!
Glad you uploaded this anyway. It's awesome
Ty for the subtitles. It really helps fans like us who don't understand English. Big thanks!
I love "reality" videos, makes it all a little more exciting and you handles it very well.
You always get me in the mood to play Ola! Killer playing as usual
Kramer always speaks about leaving the mistakes in. Well, there you go. Awesome video, loved it. Big thanks.

I see you're a big Dimebag fan, I am also a very big fan of Dimebag I love his clear sound very much. All the best for years to come.
Dude it sounds just like DIME. I'd be proud of this one, no need to make excuses for avid this good. Tone is great.
Great vid none the less despite issues. Your right, the sound is in the fingers and style. Still great fun to watch and hear.
Well, while it still worked, it was fucking sick. Let's just pretend the spirit of Dime was flowing through the amp, and it just tore itself apart from the sheer power.

Amp breaks at 8:40 !
oh fuck!!! sneeze smashed HAHAHAHAHA
Damnn
I fckn knew it!! He is a super-hero..
reason why his amp broke hem
That face of sneeze though also how the fucking hell the amp break
Ive watched you for a while
Dude you have inspired me to get into metal. I am a vanhalen and all 80s rock.
But i love watching you play.
You should do a vid with the RG1503 with the pq4 and mxr, be interesting to hear!
Where can you get a dang unicorn the pq4 ?
This rig just sounds badass. Dime association aside. Great Dime Tones, great Ola tones.
Hello Ola, could you do a Gojira guitar tone video? I saw some EVH Amps in your video's and thought if you would be interested in doing one or a few.
Had the Furman PQ4, sounded great!
Where did you score it?
That sneeze was the best part of the video
So beautiful to hear this tone!!!!
i demand a redo, for the rig of the week with this gear.
I feel like every person who tries to mimic the Dime sound just can't ever seem to nail it down but it sounded pretty killer nonetheless. Well done man, hopefully you can get that Amp head working again for further testing. Just don't sneeze!
Youi're one the most likable characters I've seen on YT.
Cool. I had an old Behringer PEQ2200 I used to use to get similar tones with the Randall RG-13 pedal/amp.
Cool to see the the blue Randall amps...Vivian Campbell used 2 of those for rhythm and lead, as well as a Furman PQ3 for clean into 2 Randall power amps on the WS 1987 tour :)
Man that Dimebucker has some meanness!! Really punchy!!
Doesn't sound nothing like Dime! Still sounds like you, Ola!
Glad you posted mate, didnt know he used these...SD Dime´s bridge the closest sound I reckon.
Pretty cool dude, sounds both crispy and super-saturated
My RG100ht has that exact same problem. The red channel comes on but at whisper quiet volume. I am hoping that patch cable in the effects loop trick works
Really sounds bad ass! I think it could still compete with anything out being used today! Fucking great tone my friend. Good job.
Very , very close to his sound! It´s a great tone, man.
I think in your Pantera solo covers and such your tone was always spot on, I'm sure post processing is a huge factor in that. Sounds great anyway.
Holy cow your fantastic, could listen to you all day ..
You nailed the dime tone.
The one video we've ALL been hoping for!!!!!! Dime settings online? Anyone have a link? How's the solo setup sound? Thinking Cowboys or Cemetery Gates..
Smoked it dude! Dime was the only person who could make the dimebucker work... I had one and was very disappointed with the results...
Great vid as always...Dime Forever!!
Your sneeze broke the amp? Powerful... I hope you find the flanger/doubler to complete everything.
I picked up a 08 dean ml Korean thanks to you and my God it sounds great on anything
What a killer sound dude
I can tell by the look on your face during a couple riffs that you were liking the tone before it died!
The Dimebucker sounds juicier. Did you repair the amp again? I wonder how it would sound multitracked
I have just acquired two of these amps, along with the R100s stereo preamp!!!
This is the most fun I have had on a Sunday since last Sunday.
10:20, is that smashing pumpkins fuzz you got going on there?
Congratulations Ola :D
Dimebag saw you playing his rig with your signature guitar instead of his and he shut it down? Haha. Cool video though, brother. thanks for doing this!
I remember back in the day he was using a Joe Meek compressor. Don't remember what album.
Where on earth can I buy a RG100HT?!?! I’ve been looking for one FOREVER
man, with the MXR doubler/flanger this is one awesome blue as hell rig! Would look real purdy in a rack.
I have this amp and I found out this issue was actually the connectors on the board inside going to the fx loop. At least mine were really finnicky and if you moved them slightly all the tone would disappear, but you could tell the poweramp was still working cause it would click occasionally as loud as the volume was set

im surprised you didnt shape the tone more with the 6 band mxr eq. I bet that wouldve helped alot. still sick.
I'm interested to see how it sound compare to the RG1503. I mean with the same setting, Furman PQ4 + amp.
You basically slayed the amp 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Actually sounds sick no matter what was going on
Nice bro sounds good what do you think about the whammy cowboys from hell pedal
That riff at 3:48 always reminds me of the Quake 2 soundtrack.
Dimebag would be proud of you ☺️
Greetings from Russia, Ola. I have similar equipment randall rg80es and Randall warhead first Gen, mxr Blue six band and cheap parametric equalizer. As far as I know, Darrel used Furman pq3 for Trendkill. Good luck!
Your awesome bro thank you for all the dime videos man
Can we get another video with that ML please?
