It gets WEIRDER: - Of course, Russians must know about this, but for everyone else, the upbeat radio adverts that end with "AO, MMM" are from a famous pyramid scheme fraud that was a very big deal back in post-soviet Russia in the 90s (they even got Mexican telenovela actress Victoria Ruffo to appear on 3 of the commercials, since her telenovela was very famous in Russia). - In the forests where Joel gets mesmerized by wood, there's another epilepsy inducing nightclub where you can do something (not sure what, the game crashes when going to the red marker, no surprise), and also there's a "love park" with photos of the mod's developers and their girlfriends (nothing NSFW, just Valentine's Day thematic) - Benny, the famous hillbilly deform ped from the original game, is replaced with an even uglier model. - In the woods where Joel talks about Mercenaries, you can find the house of the witch Baba Yaga (a famous old Russian folk tale) - The building in the background at 35:54 is a store that supposedly sells weed, but the interior is the mall from Manhunt. - Speaking of Manhunt, the subway system (where Joel found the bodies) is just a lot of those game's assets. - A latter version of the game has a balalaika (a Russian guitar with a triangular body) as a melee weapon. And I think there's a lot of more freakozoid stuff happening down there in the mod, just waiting for being unearthed.

This could be for many a typical zany stream of Joel playing something bizarre. But for me, it's a lot more. I can easily say that this video saved my life 2 years ago. In the midst of a terrible chapter of my life, thanks to the other Russian GTA bootleg stream (which is a masterpiece on its own too), I discovered this stream, and it was a relief to laugh with all the involuntary crazy stuff that happens on the mod. And for the first time in like 3 bad months, I was happy.

These weird mods were very popular in my country (Brazil) back in the day. But there's one you should really check out, it's called GTA Myriad Islands (or something like this). It's a GTA Vice City PC mod, it comes with a new map, new missions, assets, and UI. From what i recall it was very scare and unstable when you try the missions, but free roam mode was safe. The new map was a like an island, smaller than the VC's map, and there was a tiny island in the ocean with a militar base, you need a boat or heli to get there. I remember my mom got me this bizarre GTA disc when i asked for GTA Vice City, since she didn't knew any better, she got me this. Later she replaced the disc for a vanilla Vice City disc (also pirated). Thanks mom, you're the best.

Our forests are so vast and empty, that they keep getting *fucking stolen.* Unlawful deforestation is a humongous problem in Russia, tons of countermeasures (supposedly) implemented to combat it, and it keeps happenning unnoticed. Although widespread corruption sure helps.

@@nyahnyahson523 Depends on what's "well-populated" and what's an "area", but it does happen effectively anywhere there are procurable, profitable amounts of lumber. If a city is nearby, no biggie, usually a bought official (all the way up to the mayor) could cover you up. As long as the forest itself is desolate.

These weird mods were very popular in my country (Brazil) back in the day. But there's one you should really check out, it's called GTA Myriad Islands (or something like this). It's a GTA Vice City PC mod, it comes with a new map, new missions, assets, and UI. From what i recall it was very scare and unstable when you try the missions, but free roam mode was safe. The new map was a like an island, smaller than the VC's map, and there was a tiny island in the ocean with a militar base, you need a boat or heli to get there. I remember my mom got me this bizarre GTA disc when i asked for GTA Vice City, since she didn't knew any better, she got me this. Later she replaced the disc for a vanilla Vice City disc (also pirated). Thanks mom, you're the best.
