Odin cast his spell outside the TVA. The TVA magic dampeners do not reverse magic, they suppress it. Therefore Loki could not cast a spell within the TVA but the spell cast upon him before he got there was not reversed.

It's hard to write stories where "over powered" beings exist without wrecking your whole plan. For example... it's one of the reasons you don't see any stories about "actual gods" unless they conform to the eastern, norse, or roman styles where gods are weak and petty. But you never see anything portray God unless it's via a "trial" in the vein of Bruce Almighty because writing a story around a being with the power to know anything in an instant or alter reality and/or rewrite the very rules of nature is just too much cheating. So we write stories with beings that are well... "more down to earth" and then we limit their powers even further for practicality. It's just easier for Odin to never do anything other than sit on his throne or be busy somewhere else without much explanation so we can have a flawed Odinson do the work instead and provide some entertainment along the way. I mean... Odin had a spear called Gungnir and it had the power to hit anything from what seems to essentially be anywhere. And no matter how BAMF you were... it's going to hit you. It's hard to write stories when there is a giant "Screw that one guy in particular" button around and all that needs to be done is for the good side to press it.
Odin's Magic wasn't an illusion it turned Loki near fully Asgardian. Except when coming into contact with essential magic that binds Loki's essence like Jotunheim magic he cannot turn back or show his true form even if he is cut off from Magic. However, it is shown that like Thor Loki had to go through a crucible of his own to discover his true "glorious purpose" and the true level of his powers.
Or… Odin warmed Loki up.. which is why when Loki is exposed to extreme cold he turns blue again. As shown in the movies. Maybe I just missed it. So can anyone point me to any material that says Odin used magic on Loki?
For a very interesting spin on Odin, try reading "The Dresden Files" (spoiler warning) - in the 7th book he shows up as Donar Vadderung, the head and CEO of Monoc Securities, which supplies security for magically clued in types. No Thor or Loki, but Hugin and Munin are REALLY interesting, as are the Choosers/Valkyries. The audio book is narrated by the actor who played Spike in Buffy, and is awesome - and I'm not much of an audiobook person. :) FYI don't skip books, each book builds on the previous ones.
Either they didnt think of it or they wanted him to keep his normal look more than they cared staying 1,000% accurate to every little thing. Not to say Odin wasnt powerful but that seems more like a production slip/decision.
Can anyone quote any director saying that Odin used magic on Loki? I just want to see some source material on this. Because what it looks like happened is Odin warmed Loki up. Which is why when Loki becomes very cold, he turns back blue.
Did anyone else think about the time they shut off the magic suppressor machine..someone should have ran upstairs to the desk that was holding All the infinity stones and used them lol

Love the channel, but i can clear this up. Please pin it if you dont mind. The story behind Lokis perma change is Odin physicaly changed him. Yes, frost or "Fuier" giant magic makes him turn back to his normal form, but that in itself is magic. So when Loki goes to the TVA, he is simple going there as his actual self. There is no magic to undo. That would be illusion magic. Something Loki is a master at, even surpassing his father, only rivaled by his mother. Odin has the Odin force, a power on par with Cosmic power like the silver surfer and Galactus. And thats the level of power you need to physicaly change a being. Not counting mutatations, or mutates or course. Even the powers of Hell cant make beings, only currupt them. Thats how you get ghost riders, Etragan and such. So loki would have noticed an illusion cast on him very early. Hope this helps clear things up!
I don’t think Thor would be able to. He is also a very emotional person, whereas Loki Had just started to have attachments. Thor would let his attachments hinder his decisions, where Loki used his to make the decision to be alone, in the name of saving them.
Asgardians don't get more powerful with age. Ive been collecting thor comics for over 40 years, and have back issues going into "tales of suspense" . Where do you people come from?
@cody967 yeah I didn't really believe it much at first either especially since I was raised catholic but tbh the deeper u dig into it and the more u learn the more it starts to really make sense. you realize even Odin had a father right? that his father was a god? that "All Father" is merely a title that gets passed down. and the cosmic entities pretty much all have him beat. oh and TOAA and TOBA.
This doesn't make sense because when Odin died, his power to contain Hela disappeared, so Odin's power to have Loki keep his human form should also have disappeared. So, clearly Odin did something else to Loki other than illusions to give him a human appearance, like a permanent physical change.
if the logic that once Odin dies, all his magic does too is true, then maybe that's why Cap could lift Mjolnir, technically there was no Odin in this timeline 🤔 who knows how far 1 God's magic travels if it's not in the same universe
@@vAngelxwell those were simple enchantments. Odin actively had to keep Hela trapped bc she was most likely always trying to escape. She _wanted_ to be free. @@nicodiangelo6788it makes sense considering the fact that odin literally said I used my life force to imprison her If it were the case that everything he did will be undone when he died then I think the MCU would have been torn apart instantly, as odin has been in power for centuries as one of the most powerful in the universe, and also in love and thunder it was clearly shown that the enchantment never left (no one could lift a piece of the hammer during the tourist epilogues) )

I thought that Ultron was using the stones as a power source, and when he was affecting other universes it was his own technology combined with the power of the stones.
I hadn't thought of this during the series. Sometimes forget that Odin's magic keeps him looking the way we're used to seeing him. Odin is absurdly powerful in the MCU and this makes complete sense when you look at the context of everything else. He was holding back the immensely powerful Hela, as well as Surtur. Coincidingly, only after he passed on did Thanos feel like he could come out and start making huge waves collecting the stones himself. It was like a bunch of Great White sharks smelling blood in the water from the dead Megalodon. They all knew they could finally come out.
In Loki, loki complains about the avengers travelling back in time. Ravonna says that it was meant to happen. Similarly, Loki's transformation by Odin's magic was meant to happen. Hence, TVA didn't capture Odin.
Odin learned magic from Freya whos from Vanaheim. He also went through many painful sacrifices to gain wisdom (his power). Interestingly he is one of the few males in norse mythology to practice magic and not be seen as effeminate.
The fact you are replying to theories and giving your ideas using all the movies as support proves you actually put work in this and i am subbing cause its not just random garbage for views :3
As a disclaimer I'm more familiar with Norse mythology than Marvel universe, but the Norse Loki is a shapeshifter, so I would assume Marvel Loki is a shapeshifter too. So, Loki doesn't look like an Asgardian because of Odin's magic, but because baby Loki felt a connection with Odin and wanted to look similar, which would also explain why Odin stopped his aggressive wars with adopting Loki: even after being at the receiving end of Odin's wrath Loki just wanted to be loved. Or Loki tricked Odin even as a baby. Who knows 😅 I don't know about MCU, but in other fictional universes shapeshifting sometimes is considered magic and sometimes isn't. Even when it is magic, sometimes only the actual shapeshifting is magic, but the shape shifted to is not, so preventing magic prevents further shapeshifting but doesn't cancel previous shapeshifts.
We see Loki shape-shifting quite alot in the MCU (Thor 2 during the escape he became half the avengers and Sif, Thor 3 he pretended to be Odin himself for months at a time). Odin cast the original enchantment on Loki to change his appearance to Asguardian, Loki as he grew up, later learnt how to use magic, including how to tweak this enchantment and temporarily suppress it, which is how he figured out he was a frost giant by birth. Why it's not suppressed in the TVA is arguable, my theory is the room only stops you casting/activating magical abilities, it does not strip currently active ones from you (unless they need upkeep, it prevents the upkeep, his shapeshift needs no upkeep). Hence why the stones were "innert", their powers still existed inside them but could not activate when touched, They don't passively do anything except exist, everything else is an active effect triggered by interacting with a user, be that as simple as exploding them because the user can't handle their power, or letting them change the universe itself. The energy transfer itself is blocked, and thus normal stone. Could also argue that the stones are just the physical manifestation of their particular aspect, not the aspect itself, and thus when blocked they are just stones as the gateway to the power is closed.
The claim that Odin is more powerful than the TVA can be debatable after reviewing a scene in an online FanFiction story called “The Infinity Stones Return: Captain America’s Final Adventure.” Most of this story of course is about how Steve Rogers returned each of the time-heisted items and reversed the wayward timeline events with the magical assistance of the Ancient One’s 2012-2014 counterpart. Near the story’s end though, after travelling back to 1970 and returning the final stone, Steve is intercepted by the TVA who request his help in capturing a rogue agent. In the scene where he’s then briefed regarding the creation, purpose, and innerworkings of the organization, Steve learns that while most forms of magic are suppressed in the TVA to prevent criminal variants from using their powers to escape or reek havoc, certain other forms of harmless magic are occasionally left alone. This would include the charmed spell that Odin had long-ago placed on Loki to make him look like an Asgardian instead of a Frost Giant, which explains why the 2012 branch-Loki didn’t revert to his Frost Giant form when captured. In fact, allowing certain shape-shifting monsters and aliens to sometimes remain and be essentially trapped in human form makes them appear and feel less intimidating to the TVA agents, thereby making them that much easier to deal with. Further dialogue in this scene also establishes that, while other magical beings or objects regain their powers if they leave the TVA or get sent to the Void, all confiscated variant Infinity Stones, including the variant Space Stone (Tesseract) which the branch-Loki had attempted to escape with, “permanently die” and become nothing more than mere “paperweights” when seized. The reason for this arrangement is so that if any criminal variants somehow manage to smuggle out some of these stones, they won’t be able to access the powers to escape from the Void or to create a Thanos-level of chaos in a branch-reality. This of course also then explains why the TVA agents needed to wait until Steve returned all six of the heisted stones first before they brought him to their headquarters so as to prevent those stones from dying as well.
He literally strips away Thor's power like it's a piece of paper and turns his son from god to mere mortal, and order Mjolnir to only allow those who are worthy to wield it 🥱
The fun thing is that enchantment only works for those who Odin would see as worthy so let’s say Loki cast the enchantment Thor and Odin would never be able to lift the hammer Also Odin is a hypocrite considering what he did in the past and raised Thor to hate the frost giants then punished him for going and doing what Odin did around 1000 years before
@@Auvas_Damask Technically Thor will slowly inherit the Odin-force, since Odin’s spirit will aid him. So, him showing more and more of Odin’s feats is kinda expected.
Odin never cast a spell to change Loki. Loki was changed by being taken from his home environment at a young age and being placed in warmth. That's why when he touches extreme cold his skin reverts back.

I have 2 theories, Odin's magic is real. Frigga's magic is illusion, so odin brought physical changes to the frost giant and made him asgardian. Loki's magic is also illusion as he learnt magic from his mother. I can conclude that Loki was permanently an Asgardian bcz he wasent as big as other frost giants and his growth stopped at normal size. my other theory is Marvel's CGI budget would have skyrocketed if they used Frost giant appearance of Loki and it wouldnt be as emotional as frost giants are quite fearsome.

The biggest misconceptions people have is about why Infinity Stones don't work in the TVA. A few think that the TVA deactivates them like magic, but the TVA is simply not powerful enough for this. Most people think it is because they don't work in other universes which is only true to non-marvel universes. The actual reason they don't work is because they were created by the creation of the universe, so in other words this universe is their power source. Now people use the stones to create new timelines (new universes) and then the TVA comes in takes the stone and deletes the universe eliminating the power source of that Infinity Stone making it useless.
Maybe it was just that Odin's magic was cast on Loki as a baby, which was a long time ago. So, the magic got more permanent as time went on and only Designated magical objects can bring Loki back to his Frost Giant form. THEORY! ❤
In some stories, the infinity stones don’t work outside their universe and Loki seems to be wearing an inhibitor collar, which is basically their way to say we shut off your powers if you wear this without an explanation
I just wish we had gotten to see an Iron Man suit made of Uru. Imagine the MK 85 nanites made of Uru. In Infinity War the scene where Ebony Maw has Dr. Strange in that needle device, they actually shot a version where Tony sends the MK 50 nanites onto Dr. Strange to protect him from the needles & get him out of it. The nanites form the Iron Man suit, but they use the Eye & the Time Stone as a power source. It forms a large glyph around the Eye in the center of the chest & all the lighted parts are green. The glyphs that appear when Dr. Strange uses his sling ring emit from the palm repulsers. The cloak that Dr. Strange normally wears attaches to Tony while all this is going on. The renders are freaking awesome & there are behind the scenes shots of them filming it, but they never used any of it.
If they had younger Odin fighting Serder or even having like a series like they do with the Loki and winter soldier if they had younger, Odin played by someone younger mature and just see how incredibly powerful and strong he truly is that would be amazing
It was a physical transmogrification. He changed Loki’s actual physical body. Loki turning blue and looking like an ice giant was an illusion for dramatic effect
Similar vibes to how in back to the future 2 the v reason doc brown had the cosmetic procedure in 2015 was bc Christopher Lloyd didn't want to sit for prosthetics every day off filming. He was actually peeling off the props in the scene
I think I know why Odin’s magic remained while any other abilities magic or not were just canceled out… Odin changed Loki’s physical form out of love for the infant god of mischief, magic is protected by love in the TVA, I came to this theory from how the TVA found Loki and Sylvie on Lamentis in the TV show Loki, Loki and Sylvie ended up having feelings for each other that were so strong that it became a flare to the TVA
The TVA’s primary focus is on maintaining the sacred timeline and preventing disruptions. Undoing Odin’s spell on Loki’s Frost Giant heritage isn’t within their purview. Their power dampening abilities specifically target magic and technology, not personal transformations. So, Loki’s Asgardian form remains unaffected by the TVA’s influence. 🌟
Loki’s skin color changes due to extreme, magical, cold. The Cask, and the touch of a frost giant were the two things that triggered his change. Just being in the TVA wouldn’t trigger it.
This is definitely an oversight, but I do love the idea that Odin in his prime was the most powerful being in the universe and that he likely used the stones. After all, Thanos only decided to attack a few days after Odin died
There's no logic here. The show writers were just lazy and didn't think to cancel that out. Or they knew about it and didn't want to spend that much time and energy on blue makeup for yet ANOTHER marvel character.
Might be legit because Loki always reverted to his frost giant physiology when near jotunhiem artifacts so we know his dna wasn’t changed completely, but Odin’s magic was just always at work. Guess you could say that Odin’s magic did work within the TVA
No we don't know that. Odin used magic to make a permanent physical change to Loki after which his new form was not sustained by magic but just _him._ Thus there was no magic to be undone at the TVA.
The magic Odin used to change Loki wasn’t an illusion, it was an actual physical change. There I fixed it.
I feel like odin basically rewrite loki dna making him half giant and half asgardian
And if it was Odin didn't do it, it was Helgas magic

This of course also then explains why the TVA agents needed to wait until Steve returned all six of the heisted stones first before they brought him to their headquarters so as to prevent those stones from dying as well.
they forgot the hire the make up artist, that's power.
He literally strips away Thor's power like it's a piece of paper and turns his son from god to mere mortal, and order Mjolnir to only allow those who are worthy to wield it 🥱
Father of God for a reason
And Thor has ordered the Hammer to watch over Jane forever. He didn't have the power of Odin yet, so the hammer thing doesn't really count
The fun thing is that enchantment only works for those who Odin would see as worthy so let’s say Loki cast the enchantment Thor and Odin would never be able to lift the hammer
Also Odin is a hypocrite considering what he did in the past and raised Thor to hate the frost giants then punished him for going and doing what Odin did around 1000 years before

Loki's magic is also illusion as he learnt magic from his mother. I can conclude that Loki was permanently an Asgardian bcz he wasent as big as other frost giants and his growth stopped at normal size.

Correct. Infinity stones without the respective universe are just gems
I feel like that’s an even bigger flex.
That actually makes sense
Holy shit that actually lines up dude great catch bro
Maybe it was just that Odin's magic was cast on Loki as a baby, which was a long time ago. So, the magic got more permanent as time went on and only Designated magical objects can bring Loki back to his Frost Giant form. THEORY! ❤
In some stories, the infinity stones don’t work outside their universe and Loki seems to be wearing an inhibitor collar, which is basically their way to say we shut off your powers if you wear this without an explanation
I would love to see the MCU bring, sir Anthony Hannibal, Oden Hopkins, back in a series of movies called the Oden wars with Hella
I don't think so, Odin died, but Loki was still a human after his death. Does it mean Odin magic was still working after his death?
If they had younger Odin fighting Serder or even having like a series like they do with the Loki and winter soldier if they had younger, Odin played by someone younger mature and just see how incredibly powerful and strong he truly is that would be amazing
Nice catch👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
He is the Allfather, even Thanos is feared of him😊
This makes me want a spin-off series showing Odin in his Prime as the conqueror of worlds he was before he banished Hela
I would also accept the possibility that the show runners, at this point, simply forgot about that bit of Odin magic
He is a God, Odin's power doesn't surprise me
Loki was able to break the “spell” if it even was a spell. When he showed Odin he knew. I think they just had an oversight.
Odin is the All Father... makes complete sense in any realm.
It's because Loki's magic comes from another source, a source that isn't loki's but Odin creates his own magic source, which is called "Odinforce"
100% they were lazy or didn’t know. This wasn’t an Easter egg it was carelessness or ignorance.
This is why Thanos fears Odin…
Bro poops out bricks when he hears that name
I think the fact Thanos waited until Odin Died speaks volumes to how powerful Odin really is.
Proof that Odin truly is, the All-Father.
Odin is the order within, making it as powerful as word
Might be legit because Loki always reverted to his frost giant physiology when near jotunhiem artifacts so we know his dna wasn’t changed completely, but Odin’s magic was just always at work. Guess you could say that Odin’s magic did work within the TVA
I wish they would do more back ground on Odin and bor his father along with bolder the brave !
Very interesting, thanks :)
No we don't know that. Odin used magic to make a permanent physical change to Loki after which his new form was not sustained by magic but just _him._ Thus there was no magic to be undone at the TVA.
