The scoreless reds have a bit of a postseason losing streak. Which started in 2012 after losing the last 3 to the giants in the NLDS. Notice how when the mariners made a playoff appearance in 2022, they failed to score in a single run at their home ballpark? It went to 18 innings
I feel like for the Dodgers in 2022 they felt complacent after winning Game 1. As for 2023, the offense really needed to show up to cover the massive hole on pitching. Kershaw was the only good pitcher on paper and he had the worse game out of all the starters we threw out. Offense meanwhile stunk hard. JD, Betts, Muncy and Freeman had 1 RBI between them. It's why I'm honestly still very cautious about the upcoming season even with Shohei. He can be the hero we need to finally put us over the top and kill the playoff demons, or he can be the white elephant if he also falters like the rest.
I still maintain the playoffs are a complete crapshoot. Some teams seem to be built to succeed in the playoffs year over year (Astros) but the rest of them it's just random, all depends if your hitters are hot, pitchers are fresh, you don't run into a buzzsaw by sheer bad luck, so I don't buy the idea that any specific player is what they need to get over the hump
@@homerunproductions162 I only really mentioned Ohtani because many say that he just doesn't look like a dude who would falter in the post. I don't buy it either like you. I have grown very pessimistic in the past years, but overall I think this year will be no different to previous seasons.
As a Dodger fan 2022 definitely felt worse than 23. 22 the bats got collectively got sick and it felt the guys weren’t playing with a sense of urgency. 23, bats are sick again but going into September i knew we didn’t have the pitching to get far. Last year we honestly exceeded expectations, a year where we were supposed to retool to reset the luxury tax so we could go out and do what we did this offseason
I figured the Dodgers wouldn't win the WS mid-season last year, and figured they'd probably lose the NLDS to either AZ or MIL, but did not expect a sweep
