I am 77 years old. Back in the day guys were swapping in 265 SBC AND later 283 & 327. There was an adapter that would mate the ford 3 speen manual to the small block Chevy.
Hey Jess & Dave That front end change is so much easier than the whole chassis swap. I hope the engine install goes as easy as the suspension did. I think Jess will be happy with the truck when it is hiway ready. She can take pride in the vehicle because she knows what it took to make it what it is . Looking forward to the engine and trans install.
Back in the 60's I had a 46 Ford coupe with a 53 Olds 324 engine in it... Now I have a 52 Plymouth fastback with a 500 Caddy and a 64 Ford half ton... so I like what I see.
Happy 21st anniversary my wife and i have been married now for 20 years on this past august 6 th 2024 we lived together for 5 year's so all together is 25 years when you add the extra 5 its a blessing when your marriage last that long great job on the ford love them old trucks
Dave, thank you for speaking to me about lowering Jess's truck. Leveling the rear of the truck to MATCH the front ride level is only reasonable. Cutting the frame to lower the truck to sit as low as a Corvette is ridiculous. After Mortske destroyed about the sixth truck, and Puddin dropped the fourth vehicle in a row, I lost interest in their projects. Add to that Mortske looked into the camera and told the audience that anyone that didn't like it could kiss his ass. Mortske tries to sell the vehicles after he's done with them. Once he's butchered the rear frame and inflated the price with dropped spindles and altered suspension parts it is no wonder they don't sell. Thank you again for responding. I will still enjoy watching you and Jess play.
How do you feel the ride height is as it sits now? It's not really that low and Jess is happy with it. What are your thoughts? I think it's a happy medium.
I think the weight of the engine will drop it a bit and she should be fine. Happy anniversary to you both, always enjoy watching you both together. JCfromCT
@@madgingercustoms I agree. The new suspension is a great improvement over the straight axle. It will ride, handle and steer much better. When you say SLAM I hear on the ground and too low to drive down a dirt road. If Jess is good with it, so am I. It's her truck. Happy customizin'.
When I was a teen in the early 80 I put a 350 Chevy in my friends 66 f100 with the th 350 trans because he was the typical broke 16 year old and that's what we could lay our hands on for really cheap. You should have seen the look on his stepdads face when he looked under the hood, priceless.
Buddy as long as Jess is happy we don’t care about your feelings lol. I’m closing in fast on 70 and I’m of the opinion that if I’m not paying for it , then my option doesn’t mean shit. Hey I like the way you do it. You work on the Portland's budget. The way most most people do it. You haven't got much of anything you're working outside or working out of a garage. It's falling down. Or a burn, that's what you've got. You've got to do it more tools than most people. No working with or more expensive but that's the way it works
Man I cut my rides to pieces and love every minute of it. My last build 1927 ford coupe 355 Chevy small block chopped and channeled hard. I’m getting ready to cut up my original 1932 5 window coupe and won’t lose any sleep over it and yes 327 Chevy will go in it
I'm 65 years old and as soon as I find a 66-67 Fairlane body at a reasonable price, I will be installing a Chevy motor with a 4 speed in it. Not an LS either, those things suck. I enjoyed the video, I didn't even know the Crown Vic and F100 was even a thing.
I used to be an “all trucks need to be 4wd and lifted” guy. But now that I’m older and more refined, I like a nicely lowered 2wd truck. 😂😂😂 Who am I kidding, I’m not refined at all.
Do you have to cut the cross member out (the one you're cutting out at the 10 minute mark). I'm doing my 62 right now and was thinking about leaving it.
Good going Guys!!! Is the weld in box a kit? I thought about going with the Crown Vic junk under the shoebox, but I think the track width is too wide. Oh, and that's it Dang It! I'm FE swapping the Chevy. IJK!!!! Oh, speaking of butt hurt those custom Shoebox guys get mad over installing anything other than 4-wheel drum brakes. But they will stick a Chevy motor in a Ford in a heartbeat.

I'm not sure to be honest but I think it would be in the way of a modern drivetrain. I think if you're putting the stock back in you're fine.

You already sed the word that is called the Chevy engine. The Chevy engine is probably a 350 or an LS engine
Small block 350. I do have an LS swap but it's just sitting there.
