It's coming together great, certainly a bit of work to fit the steering, the exhaust looks challenging, I'm sure you'll work it out, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Speedway Motors sells a nice weld-it-yourself kit for the SBC with lots of nice bend options. Or go to any swap meet and sort through all the factory manifolds that got replaced with cheap headers that leak and rust through from CT salt applications.
Not sure why "finding the right washer" for the column tube end was such a dramatic problem. You do have a plasma cutter. That means you can make any shape you need in sheet metal in a few minutes. Also a stock iron exhaust manifold for Chev 283 may fit better and it has one dump pipe in the middle. Just food for thought. Cheers.
Have you looked at block huggers for headers. They tuck in pretty tight and if I remember correctly the dump out in the center like ram horns. They don’t perform quite as good as long tube but can fit in a lot tighter spaces.
On your power steering why didn't you just use a crown Vic pump and fabricâate the brackets to mount it to the chevy engine? If you're going to do something about that steering column now is the time. Don't wait until you're further along. The 65/66 column bracket where it mounts to the dash is much closer to the dash. A set of block hugger headers or a set of rams horn style manifolds from a 60 small block would solve your steering shaft issues. In my time I've crammed a lot of engines in vehicles they didn't belong in especially small block chevys into any and everything. This was before they had kits for everything. Mopar engines were a real pain because of the front oil pan sump on a lot of them. Once put a 440 in a 76 camero, invented 3 new cuss words on that one. Used all GM alternator, power steering pump and a.c. compressor by fabricating the mounting brackets. NOT FUN!

Piping will be here today. Going to get into it tonight and see how far I get.
I bet a Chevy "Rams horn" type manifold would work. it drops down into the "center" of thre manifold further forward. i'd try it.
I asked to see if anyone locally had one but I ordered piping as well.
Looking great!
Thanks!

I almost bought a speedway kit but just bought a few j bends.
He'll yes Dave, weld away brother. 😊
Thanks! Will do.
Flip the headers so they exit forward and up. Add a U to send the exhaust back over top of the frame then drop it behind the front tires.
Or just add turbo flanges and twin turbo it?

Yeah we do it for dramatic effect. And my plasma table isn't really set up currently. Lol
Nice!!! Rock on!!!
Thanks Mike!!
Slice out a 3/8in to -0- in the bottom of the header tubes, and lay them back towards the block and reweld them. A common fix.
That was the part of the video where if we did that the collector would be into the transmission ear.
Id definitely watch you make headers
Well we will at least fix this one!

Yeah I think my concern is the crown Vic cradle.
Great vid today!!
Thanks man!
I didn't want to reveal this , but I do have X Ray eyes(just got'em a week ago) , and you're right .
😂😂😂😂
Told you!
Have you looked at "outside the frame" style headers. I have those on my SBC swapped CJ5.
I already fixed the ones I had but I had considered fenderwell headers.
People always think headers will fix everything
I just want something that will fit. Manifolds would be fine!
To help you out and myself too - I'll buy those truck headers from you.
Oh yeah??
Morning!!
Hey man!
@madgingercustoms got a Jeep on the channel now... pretty sure you like those!! :-)
Older 283/327 manifold that goes over the spark plugs instead of under may work. Anyways, great video y'all.
Hmmm like the ram horn style? I'll take a look. Thanks.
that's how I did my 46 with a half rack for my cross steering Not power
Nice!!
Amazon Rams Horn manifold.
@@jeffreyworthington7558 I would but I already fixed them.
52 degrees is like cruel blazing August heat for fat guys. Ask me how I know. Congratulations on approaching 20,000 subs.
Thanks man!
Thanks!
Are "block hugger" headers cost prohibitive?
They won't fit. Spoiler, I already cut and modified the header. That will be on the next video.
you might want to think about a smaller steering wheel because of the power
We are absolutely changing the wheel. She just wants something period correct.
@@madgingercustoms you may be able because of so many of us changing things around good luck.
When is the Mad Ginger Calendar coming out for purchase?😂😂 need other ways to support the channel

Do you mean a Dave swimsuit calendar? 😂
I'll get the banana hammock out.

The power steering pump is more of an issue than just adding the E rack. I've also been trying to source a ram horn locally. Thanks!!
Is dave if I do you live a.
Center dump off an old Chevy.
I've been looking for them. Thanks!
@@madgingercustoms they're not there hard to find.
