    I have a Mallet stage 2 and it didn't cost $10k.
    I installed it myself in a weekend. For $7k.
    OMG it's insane. You need to turn off the traction control and stabilitrac because it spins the tires and cuts the fuel the second you hit the gas. Great for daily driving as well. Oh and "no" turbo lag.

    • @Erik-jp7kk
      @Erik-jp7kk 4 роки тому +1

      Could you post a video please? I have yet to see a Colorado really spin tires just from hitting the gas on a strait launch. Something was up with the launch in this video.
      Both the stock Colorado and ranger have great horsepower but barley loose traction at launch even with traction control off. To me that’s a sign of poor low end torque. Unlike a v8 Silverado and such that can get sideways just by hitting the gas. Not say that’s important in a truck but low end torque is.

      @@Erik-jp7kk Not to interested in doing a burnout with my now $57k daily driver. But it goes pretty good. I see no reason why it could not roast em but I'm not going to find out. You should buy what works for you. I didn't need a full size and I wanted more zip than the stock 3.6L.
      The Mallet definitely does that.

      @@Erik-jp7kk we didn't capture this truck getting crazy very well in the video. The in cabin footage, I was driving and the truck was fishtailing left and right. It was awesome. Oh I’d love to do that to my 2019 Colorado Crew Cab 4x4, V6! But it’s only got 15,000 miles, on an 85 month 100,000 miles Bumper to Bumper Warranty! But I do tow a 26’, 6,000 lbs max travel trailer, at least a few thousand miles a year. That’s why I went with the warranty, for peace of mind on my travels. But like he said, these trucks are no slouch! Matter of fact, this just right sized daily driver, is the quickest truck I’ve owned and I owned a few nice trucks. This one is right up there ahead on the 2003 Dakota Reg Cab,4x4, V5, 5 speed I had for 8 trouble free years. That was as quick as any pre 2000 5.0 Mustang. The only mod I’m thinking about is a CAI, more than likely a K&N!

    • @ModernGreaser
      @ModernGreaser  4 роки тому +5

      Not a dumb question at all. I'm not an expert, but I don't think it's going to help the longevity by any means....but, it's not like you're going to need a new motor in 40k miles. From my understanding, if you crank up the boost and push 450 horsepower, then you're going to have issues. If you run 5lbs of boost like similar Magnuson superchargers that are on Tacomas that make modest horsepower, I think the longevity shouldn't even be affected. Mallett will provide warranties for trucks with they install superchargers on, so they wouldn't warranty something that would go to pot quickly.

      I installed the mallet stage 2 at 5k. Just turned 40k with zero issues. Don't do too many burnouts. $50k for the truck and $7k for the charger doesn't make sense to beat on it. I do pull a 21' aluminum fishing boat every weekend during the fishing season and a 14' enclosed trailer for odd jobs. I absolutely love the additional power.

    If the stock Zr2 has 308 Hp how does this supercharger add the HP to 361? If it's supposed to have 100 additional HP? Is it 361 WHP?

    • @ModernGreaser
      @ModernGreaser  4 роки тому

      Great observation. The 361 derives from the max rear wheel horsepower. I included a dyno chart of this from Mallett's website in the video description where they claim the truck will receive 100 extra horsepower with a total max of 361. It doesn't make sense when you do the math, but this info is straight from the horse's mouth at Mallett. I'm sure they have some type of explanation for it. Thank you for watching, I will be sure to bring up your point in the follow up video on this truck that includes 1/4 mile and 0-60 times.

      Beerusama touché my good man. Thank you for pointing that out, I just looked at the air filter like a dimwit. Appreciate the input and a keen eye for detail. It gets hectic filming vehicles. When you’re on a time crunch, in a borrowed vehicle that you’ve never seen or been in, which you’re trying not to ruin, it easy to look over things. Even on my own vehicles, I make tons of mistakes. When I watched the footage of the Colorado and saw I called it awd, I thought “dammit it’s a 4x4” haha. Later I learned the auto is similar to awd, so I thought, meh that will do. I knew the day would come that some savvy person will catch my blunder haha. Well done my friend and thanks for watching.
