What mini ramp tricks should I learn?!
A Beanplant air type thing would be sick
Ollie to fakie I think is a great mini ramp trick
@@LandynsLibrary Good idea, some grab tricks.
Fs rock n roll, i struggle with starting to kickturn after the rock, i can do fs kickturns pretty comfy tho... also, i cant understand that decking a rock to fakie is easier, for me halfway is the way to go for sure!
Kickflip to tail slide
This is a sign to get my own backyard miniramp. Probably need to get a house first but we'll get there.
Haha same
I’m renting and built a 20ft wide mini lol
I illegally live in a prefab skatepark ramp
Love the positivity! Yes you'll get there 🔥💎
The staying in the ramp tip is 100% the biggest thing that helped me advance on mini ramps. I'm 34 in grew up pretty much without transition skating so it was all stairs and rails. I always felt like an idiot at the park because I couldn't really do any transition tricks. I started practicing mini to learn ways to flow through the park better.
I grew up very heavy into skateboarding, now I'm 35 and I just now started skateboarding again. My 360 flips and hard flips are gone. My kickflips and pretty high ollys are there. But me being an addict completely stopped me from being as good as I could have gotten, even know right now I been clean a few years. But I hope you don't stop UA-cam man your ideas have crazy good potential and you'll definitely go far
Same here homey, 5 yrs sober back to skating at 40 years old... i have limits but damn every second on a board is.... im sure you understand
thats a god damn beautiful backyard mini ramp!
Congrats on accomplishing your dreams bro! 🎉
I am stoked to see footie from this ramp 🎉
Thanks for putting this together! I was searching about this a lot a few months ago, and there aren’t enough good tutorials on it. This one might be the best!
"Your head is your pendulum when skating transition" - Zack Dowdy🔥
Great content
Just started skating 6 months ago at 41 years old and your info is incredibly helpful. Are there any older videos of yours you recommend I look at for basics?
You are a great teacher - keep going!
Hey dude I really appreciate your videos like this one . I’ve been skating for over 10 years mostly flat street skating , I’m just now getting into transition more and these basics help me a ton. Thanks Zack!
mini looks so sick! teach me how to skate transition!
You’se gotta collab brew!
Cruise over!
Daaawg wtf the dropping / lifting the shoulder tip was huuuge for my pivots, had been staying quite horizontal with my shoulder placement and this helped so much
Excellent tutorial Zack. 🤘🤘
dooooooooood im so glad i found your channel. thanks for posting.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and perspective in the way of explaining body mechanics in transition.
one of the nicest backyard mini ramps , must be a dream to skate on. nice tips!
Thank you so much for this one, it was excelent!
This video is so helpful, thank you! Really helped clarify some of my mistakes
Love all your vids! I think you have a great vibe and amazing attitude! Wondering what pants those are. They look like a good fit!
Thanks. As a kind of adult beginner, this was super helpful. I've been skating mini ramp less than a bowl. In a bowl I can keep my foot somehow in the pocket but when trying a mini ramp the back foot always find its way too high up the tail. Gotta really concentrate on that!
Love the vids homie
Zack, nice video, but I wanted to know if you can share the radius of the transitions on both sides, height and overall length of the ramp. The Reason for this, we want to do a also a backyard cement mini ramp in Mexico 🇲🇽
i like the new approach with scripted info in between. much more structured and better to understand like that. Good job, thanks!
The backyard dream 🔥
my friends literally call me slash god because its all i do when im at the bowl and its funny that i still find myself watch trick tips on how to slash grind haha there is always room for improvment folks
i love this video an mini rap i would love to skate with you one day ...san diego native an thank for that bowl you guys made in old town i never knew it was there.
Quality content. I hope more beginner friendly episodes coming soon.
Just picked up a miniramp can’t wait to get started when the rain stops
I think your drop in tip is slightly off: I think you should be saying to keep your shoulders parallel to the ramp not your head, which is essentially what you are doing because you are keeping your head perpendicular to your shoulders therefore your head is also parallel to the ramp; however, if your head was parallel to the ramp but your shoulders weren't then your in for a bad time.
What good how to skate transition clip bro 💯
FS Axle stall is haunting me. Can’t tell you how much time I spend on the coping just looking back down and wondering how tf to get back down there.
If you lean back as you get into the front axle and push out with your heels to lock in then you’re body weight should let you come back in easily 🤙🏼
I feel this, Finding it harder than my first ever drop in !
Good video!!
I'm sure I'll be in the minority in the comments but I really appreciate you mentioning how to guide with the upper body and not the lower. I've been riding bigger transition lately and because of poor body mechanics turning I've been having issues with my hip flexor now.
One thing I do have questions about is how do I break the habit and start getting more comfortable putting my front foot closer to the bolts and less on the nose. I've noticed that if I do this it's much easier to turn, however I feel less stable even with wider wheelbase boards.
Also, if there's any other tips for us over 30 year olds on things you recommend such as ways you like to warm up before your session and how you like to finish it that would be interesting as well as what other things do you do to strengthen your body for skating mini ramps and transition.
No. Not in the minority. I think he made a good point re ramps. This highlights the difference between fast footwork forms of freestyle & even some street- manuals etc ( FS often using significant hip movement ) versus semi-vert/vert riding where the momentum while riding the ramp or pool does a lot of the work for you.
I was a sometimes competition placing freestyler etc, but a decidedly average vert rider (a long time ago - street & f.s 1970 onwards, vert 1977- 1981).
Also boards with particularly heavy set ups or overly wide apart trucks tend to make a skater place feet too far back or forward on the kicktail(s).
Dropping in.....First time hold somebodies hand.....I've helped soooo many kids not get hurt after I proper did myself at 45....
Probably too soon in this mini ramp series so far, but I definitely want to see blunt fakie eventually.
Hello
Do you have a vidéo of the construction of your backyard miniramp?
Love it
Thx
Hope there’s a build/pour video coming up for this.
Def want to learn how to front/back tail slide
I've heard you use this pendulum thing a few times before. I think your head is actually the pivot while your feet and the board are the pendulum. (Love your videos though!)
Nice vid! I wonder what made you choose concrete copings instead of regular metal ones.
I just started skateboarding at 41 just never realised I was goofy not regular skater
Nice, ramp.
Can you do the making of tutorials video on trick like fakie transferrable or double-switch popper?
A dream
I’m actually starting to think about a house move with the potential for a mini ramp in the garden. Come on family it’ll be fun for everyone 😂

Could you explain how to guide a bs boneless into your hand to stall, I can't seem to do it, I'm sure I could figure out the jump in from there but please show me how it's done
Been waiting for this video! I'd love to see some videos on feebles, smiths, etc. Quick tip: don't wear a necklace with a lavalier microphone. ;)
Thought about re-filming because of the mic/necklace, learning lessons!
great stuff!!
FS Disaster. FS Smith. Why is FS so much harder!?!?!!, I feel like my shoulders don't rotate and lead back into the ramp and I just run out of my attempts.
Thnx for the video! Maybe a bit of topic but what kind of shoes are you riding on?
New Last Resort shoes
Is it a polar 9 deck?
How much did it cost you to build?
Smith

Bro you should give lessons you could make extra money doing so
great video but for the love of god remove your necklace before filming. so loud
Okay but could you move away your necklace from the microphone please?
