      Fs rock n roll, i struggle with starting to kickturn after the rock, i can do fs kickturns pretty comfy tho... also, i cant understand that decking a rock to fakie is easier, for me halfway is the way to go for sure!

    The staying in the ramp tip is 100% the biggest thing that helped me advance on mini ramps. I'm 34 in grew up pretty much without transition skating so it was all stairs and rails. I always felt like an idiot at the park because I couldn't really do any transition tricks. I started practicing mini to learn ways to flow through the park better.

    I grew up very heavy into skateboarding, now I'm 35 and I just now started skateboarding again. My 360 flips and hard flips are gone. My kickflips and pretty high ollys are there. But me being an addict completely stopped me from being as good as I could have gotten, even know right now I been clean a few years. But I hope you don't stop UA-cam man your ideas have crazy good potential and you'll definitely go far

    Thanks. As a kind of adult beginner, this was super helpful. I've been skating mini ramp less than a bowl. In a bowl I can keep my foot somehow in the pocket but when trying a mini ramp the back foot always find its way too high up the tail. Gotta really concentrate on that!

    I think your drop in tip is slightly off: I think you should be saying to keep your shoulders parallel to the ramp not your head, which is essentially what you are doing because you are keeping your head perpendicular to your shoulders therefore your head is also parallel to the ramp; however, if your head was parallel to the ramp but your shoulders weren't then your in for a bad time.

      If you lean back as you get into the front axle and push out with your heels to lock in then you’re body weight should let you come back in easily 🤙🏼

    I'm sure I'll be in the minority in the comments but I really appreciate you mentioning how to guide with the upper body and not the lower. I've been riding bigger transition lately and because of poor body mechanics turning I've been having issues with my hip flexor now.
    One thing I do have questions about is how do I break the habit and start getting more comfortable putting my front foot closer to the bolts and less on the nose. I've noticed that if I do this it's much easier to turn, however I feel less stable even with wider wheelbase boards.
    Also, if there's any other tips for us over 30 year olds on things you recommend such as ways you like to warm up before your session and how you like to finish it that would be interesting as well as what other things do you do to strengthen your body for skating mini ramps and transition.

    • @rickh3714
      @rickh3714 Рік тому +2

      No. Not in the minority. I think he made a good point re ramps. This highlights the difference between fast footwork forms of freestyle & even some street- manuals etc ( FS often using significant hip movement ) versus semi-vert/vert riding where the momentum while riding the ramp or pool does a lot of the work for you.
      I was a sometimes competition placing freestyler etc, but a decidedly average vert rider (a long time ago - street & f.s 1970 onwards, vert 1977- 1981).
      Also boards with particularly heavy set ups or overly wide apart trucks tend to make a skater place feet too far back or forward on the kicktail(s).
