    I am impressed!!! When the tarp dumped you three, your friend held on to her beer!!! There is a lady with her priorities intact.

    I think what was the best part. You 3 fell off the hammock and the girl in the middle didn't even spill the beer!
    Now she is a champ!

    Hey Kelly, how cool. I'm really enjoying watching your travels. The bad part is over and all the good parts are happening for you. I am going to walk the pacific crest trail next year when I retire, but after that I'm heading to the AT! It's so beautiful and looks like a total blast. Thanks for taking us along.

    • @neowise8567

      We just looked at the PCT last night. We plan AT in 2022 but after we don’t know but that’s top on my list. How is the resupply and hostels? Is it going to be comparable to AT as fas as that goes.

    • @LukeAndersson1
      @LukeAndersson1 3 роки тому

      I'm choosing the PCT because I live in California and it's closer to me. I'm older too and walking seems more realistic than hiking.

    • @LukeAndersson1
      @LukeAndersson1 3 роки тому +1

      The PCT has fewer hostile and there are many parts where you have to walk 5 to 7 days before you see a town to resupply but you go through Yosemite and that area, so that is pretty cool.

    Hey Kelly! I love Uncle Johnny’s! Goes in for a 2 day Resupply and leaves with 2 full bags of food lol. Why do I get the sense that you girls are goofing the entire time you hike! That’s awesome! Damn that trail magic was epic, but I’ll take the view ❤️ OMG! That gnome was dancing at Terrapin Station! I could almost hear the band! Idk why but your video does seem more green and lush than others, I guess it is getting toward summer. What another perfect day for the memory bank! I hope your rafting “zero” day is a good one! I can’t wait to see that vlog! Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well.

    With regards to you IG post about what defines a thru-hike. For me, I would think that as long as you walk the full 2190 miles (or a close enough equivalent), then you completed a full thru-hike. Whether you slacked packed, stayed in hostels, or took zero days in town, you still walked 2190 miles. I would only put the qualifier on it that you would need to complete it in a reasonable time (usually defined as 1 year). You'd be stretching it if you said you did it in like 5 years. Technically you would have walked 2190 miles, but I think it becomes a bit gray at that point. But to each their own. You know what you did and didn't do.

    • @cup_and_cone
      @cup_and_cone 3 роки тому +7

      Full mileage in 365 if you go by ATC definition... She could still come back early next spring and finish missed mileage for it to be considered a thru hike by most standards.
      The AT has become pretty commercialized and there's so much development along the trail, people who aren't familiar have this expectation it's not a genuine experience unless you're out there getting lyme disease and hypothermia, when the reality is the experience is whatever you want to make it and everyone has their own goals. And then you have the critics who don't understand just because the trail and culture has fundamentally changed doesn't diminish what early hikers had to endure.

  • @TravMaxAdventures

    Heck yeah, take that zero. If you don’t stop and enjoy the trip when you have the opportunity, what’s the point? Make those memories.

    Lots of comments about is this a through hike or not. Way I see it long as every inch of the trail is covered in a reasonable time frame you have indeed hiked the whole trail and for most that's the goal. As many hikers have stated you have to hike your own hike because if it isn't fun it can't work or be done.
    However for me I am a traditionalist and have the mentality that a through hike means just that you start at one end and go straight through to the other end. But that is the point everyone has different goals and different opinions on what's fun for them. I am happy to see Kellie have fun on trail and if the flip flop style works for her that's fantastic. I just hope Kellie never loses sight of the main goal and gets to the end of the trail before she loses what would be considered reasonable time. Most hikers consider that as reaching MT. Kitatan before it has to close for winter. This would also mean including coming back and doing the missing leg due to the illness. Kellie I know you are capable of getting it done I just hope you have the will power to see it through. It's great to have fun but don't lose focus of your original goal in the process. I am a retired Scoutmaster and I know hiking. It's so easy to lose sight of goals and get lost in the adventure.

    From handstands to hammock dumps, 10:20, maybe the trail names should be: Moe, Larry, and Curly. Should Kelly be Curly?? ua-cam.com/video/2rbyKFY28rg/v-deo.html While the entertainment factor of this channel is reaching exponential heights, it could get dangerous. Imagine Kelly calling home: "Mom, I'm in the ER again." Mom asks, "What happened, dear?" Kelly replies, "I fell out of a hammock." O the dangers of thru-hiking. Love this channel. It's going to be a classic.

    Well Kelly it appears your "advisors" are more than ready to define for you what a thru-hike is ... or isn't. Seems there are as many definitions as there are definers. Don't panic. There's only one definition that counts and that is the official one from the A.T. Conservancy. It's raw-bone and basic and simply says: "A thru-hike is a hike of the entire A.T. in 12 months or less." That's all. Nothing about slack packing, shelter loops, days off trail, flip flopping, and all the rest.It just says hike all of it and do it within one year. All other definitions are superfluous, have no validity, and exist only in the imagination of the definer.
    Everyone is free to place whatever liberties and restrictions on himself for his own hike, and everyone is free to have an opinion about what a thru-hike should be, but no one is free to redefine the definition by the ATC and impose it on someone else.

    • @mb692100
      @mb692100 3 роки тому +1

      I meant to include this in the above.... To show what an absolute exercise in futility it is to debate these endless and meaningless arguments about what a thru-hike is, here is an article from The Trek: thetrek.co/definition-thru-hike/
