"Yes" is a useless word. We're hardwired to seek out yeses, but it's actually counterproductive when it comes to persuasion. No one wants to willingly say yes, but people love to say no. Chris Voss breaks down the principle behind "getting to no" and how it can make negotiations move in your favor.

Thanks for watching!
I am a public school teacher. I use this stuff all the time to show empathy, build rapport, and defuse tense situations with kids AND their parents.
I have tons of stories to tell but this is not the venue for it.
The Black Swan Group should try and expand into Social Emotional Learning in schools somehow for teachers.
We as a society need to learn deescalation and conflict resolution. To empathize with each other.
"When someone corrects you, that means you're in dialogue." Wow, the internet must be full of people starving for connection.
It sounds like you didn't get it?
Chris is referring to a critical negotiation situation.
You are probably referring to the generally abysmal standard of comments on social media.
@@rocamaxivojofahd333 the OP is still making an accurate assessment.
I can't hear this enough over and over...thanks Chris.
What a great speaker. I never tire of listening to Black Swan Group material or Chris' audiobook.
Thankyou for this amazing FREE content. It is GOLD because I certainly cannot afford $2000 to one of your seminars though I wish I could! So thankyou!
Would it be crazy if you would send me a free ticket to attend your next live seminar and pay for my flights to get there?
@Sal Baldassano That's your problem 😉
What makes you ask?
Hahaha this hit me 😂😂😂😂 pretty good - when I read it, I could hear it in Chris’s voice too LOL
That’s a “Yes” question :)
@Sal Baldassano it seems you are unsure
I’ve heard that “some of you are thinking, I’ve got your left forefinger right here” joke countless times and I still laugh every time😂
That's right!
Just did the thumb finger point trick. Took me about 20 tries till i could do it easily lol. Def good talking point at the dinner table
Genuis. Thank you
“I just killed Jack” 😅😅😅
To be fair. I hated the yes and never did it for 25 years in sales. But they tried to teach me it but so rejected it because it was fake and only worked on low it people and created win lose transactions
Thank you! - kt
This is a Chris Voss-Walken
THANK YOU GOD VOSS !
Great content A++
I am here because I want to negotiate with my boss 😂
Would it be crazy for you to send me 50 dollars out of emotional intelligence, aha?
Stop joke forever Mai più
How is this dude making any money telling the same stories over and over again. People pay to go hear the same speech that you can find him giving 100 times right here on UA-cam. Making money off of stupid people is easy.
Principles are gold, stories are just the application. I’m not here for stories.
I’m here for skills & application 😉.
thumb downnnnnnnnn
@@stueypooey9742 how many times are you gonna hear about the haitian hostage taker...STUEY POOEY.
It sounds like you are paranoid?
You are right about the Haiti story being overused but I think this time he was talking more about how to convince the other side of your credentials
Like "here's what you have to do" rather than reading out your CV for 10 minutes
Gold as always 🪙🪙🪙
i love it thanks for sharing
