"Yes" is a useless word. We're hardwired to seek out yeses, but it's actually counterproductive when it comes to persuasion. No one wants to willingly say yes, but people love to say no. Chris Voss breaks down the principle behind "getting to no" and how it can make negotiations move in your favor.

I am a public school teacher. I use this stuff all the time to show empathy, build rapport, and defuse tense situations with kids AND their parents.
I have tons of stories to tell but this is not the venue for it.
The Black Swan Group should try and expand into Social Emotional Learning in schools somehow for teachers.

We as a society need to learn deescalation and conflict resolution. To empathize with each other.

"When someone corrects you, that means you're in dialogue." Wow, the internet must be full of people starving for connection.

Chris is referring to a critical negotiation situation.
You are probably referring to the generally abysmal standard of comments on social media.

To be fair. I hated the yes and never did it for 25 years in sales. But they tried to teach me it but so rejected it because it was fake and only worked on low it people and created win lose transactions

How is this dude making any money telling the same stories over and over again. People pay to go hear the same speech that you can find him giving 100 times right here on UA-cam. Making money off of stupid people is easy.

You are right about the Haiti story being overused but I think this time he was talking more about how to convince the other side of your credentials
