  • “Doc” Blaney joined the Army on his 18th birthday in 1943. Trained as a medic and a paratrooper, he parachuted near Utah Beach during the D-Day invasion at Normandy; he would spend the next six days treating the wounded in an old chapel. He was also at the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he joined the Air Force, and served during the Korean War in photo intelligence.

I enjoyed listening to him. The interviewer doesn't know what a Sargent Major is , LoL

Asking where the city in Maine is isn't going to help anyone who isn't familiar with Maine. That was a waste of time. These interviewers were interested about getting their voice heard instead of these amazing Veterans. What a shame. He wanted to say things she was getting frustrated because he wanted to tell her more details about stuff... He gives little details about Normandy landing for obvious reasons but he was willing to talk about things before it.
Edit: Bless this man he genuinely wanted to talk about his family and his wife and stuff. I know the interviewer had a goal but bloody hell she couldn't have complimented his wife after his heartfelt talk about her and how they met? He obviously misses her and he's dealing with depression you're bringing up memories where she was there still... Be kind. I wish I could give this man a hug.

Silly clue less interviewer. He was a paratrooper and she asks, “what beach did you land on”! He responds “ no beach we were dropped several miles behind enemy lines”.

Wonderful guy. Doesn’t sound like he had allot of family being raised by his brother. Found a family with his wife and that was the important thing in his life.
