Joey's Backstory:
The son of a Drow mother and human father, Joey was often seen as an outcast among his peers, made worse by the fact that his mother was a Lolth-sworn assassin who turned her back on her goddess after meeting Joey's father.
While still a youth, Joey's parents were tracked down by Lolth-sworn assassins and murdered in their sleep, leaving Joey to fend for himself on the streets. He taught himself to play several instruments and performed in the streets for scraps of coin. After realising that wouldn't be enough to sustain him, Joey was forced to follow in the footsteps of his mother's ancestors, deceiving and tricking to survive, and becoming adept with blades and crossbows. Where he lacked intellectual intelligence due to growing up on the streets, he more than made up for in street smarts, and could charm and persuade his way out of dangerous situations and into lucrative ones.
He was never cut out to be a warrior like his mother wanted, and even though he was forced to adopt a darker personality at times, he never lost his cheerful side. Still, losing his parents almost destroyed him, and he often gets overly attached to people, stopping at nothing to protect his loved ones. He won't let anyone else he cares about get hurt.

Baldur's Gate 3 is a 2023 role-playing video game developed and published by Larian Studios. It is the third main installment to the Baldur's Gate series, based on the tabletop, fantasy role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.
Baldur's Gate 3 takes place in the fictional world of the Forgotten Realms during the year of 1492 DR, over 120 years after the events of the previous game, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, and months after the events of the playable Dungeons & Dragons 5e module, Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus. The story is set primarily in the Sword Coast in western Faerûn, encompassing a forested area that includes the Emerald Grove, a druid grove dedicated to the deity Silvanus; Moonrise Towers and the Shadow-Cursed Lands, which are covered by an unnatural and sentient darkness that can only be penetrated through magical means; and Baldur's Gate, the largest and most affluent city in the region, as well as its outlying suburb of Rivington. Other places the player visits include the Underdark, the Astral Plane and Avernus.
