The moment I saw the watcher at the funeral I knew for sure it was a historic deal, not only for the universe but for us too. The watcher only appears when historic events happen, (and We all know the classic death isn’t permanent trope in comics) but this time I’m really wondering if Odin will stay dead, because the watcher is there and he’s only really used when universe changing stuff happens.
This was sadder than I thought;but it got a nice chuckle out of me realizing that it's not just Odin's voice coming from beyond the grave like some hallucination, but the fact that he had nowhere else to go because no one was waiting for him in Valhalla.
Odins funeral was so epic he had celestials and the watcher. He had whole other empires looking just to make sure the old man was dead that’s a true legend right there
You have those from all over the galaxy, universe and even other dimensions; mortals and gods, friends and foes alike coming to pay their respects at your funeral… The post-service reception must’ve been a banger.
Imagine Angela in Heaven asking why there's so many people appearing there not knowing that Jane has been sending them there because Valhalla was gone and Heaven Realm was the next option
Mad I missed the first hour but glad that I'm able to listen. Thor is going to be a great King and I understood his loss. From loss we must rise up and be better.
I've always loved Donny Cates' Father and Son themes in his book. Here, Thor doesnt hold back the truth of who Odin was. He admits Odin was a lot of negative things. But he also admits despite all those things, he was also a kind man who loved others. Even though his language of love was complicated. Its something all sons have to deal with when it comes to their fathers. Understanding their contradictions of the man that raised them.
The funeral, and the eulogy had me choked up a little bit. It was a fitting end to a great character. I really feel that Thor's refusal to launch the arrow was due to him knowing in his heart that his father was not at rest. And the fact that his soul is harbored in Mjoinir. I do like the fact that the two have another adventure, and Hardy Boy mystery to solve together. I am curious to know, did Angela know that his soul was unable to find rest when they reassembled the hammer? 🤔 Great broadcast, SQUAD UP!!!
What I like about Thor is that he seems like the only Avenger that has a future version of himself and that all the stories up to this point are leading to the future already established (Old King Thor)

I ran to my local shop to get this issue on Thursday when it dropped and maaaaaan. That ending with Valhalla was craaaaazy. I am so hyped to see where they take this!
Im thinking Gorr is what happened to Valhalla, maybe he found a way there somehow and took them all prisoners I could be wrong but that would make a fun story
My Heart broke when Thor and Loki thinking back On Odin, especially With Loki. Odin and him have a difficult relationship( and I don’t agree in his parenting) but He loved Loki. I’m not into the Sjw but Loki thinking back to Odin say I love you my Son whom is also my Daughter then seeing Loki braking down gave me so much feels.
my theory is that banner of war will lead to the answers of Vallhellas disappearnce maybe it connect to the incident in el paso with the emergance of the Titan hulk and the ecounters with the goddess tempest & essence of mangog
the problem with being a god in marvel is when you die you just come back to life one day so this funeral isn't that big odin will not stay dead.Thor and Odin have both died like 100 times already
Oh man they have a story tying in with the Thanos Mangog team up and it’s well done! And Walt Simonson and The Bronxton era! I love it! Great writers all!
besides that, book being marvel legends comics, that end was wise it's not due to Oden filling in for the Storms absence; Oden was like I will not be in the afterlife alone; it did not seem like he was dejected. One thing that is awesome about Thor comics is there is always a disturbance.
I really do prefer the Lee Garbett's art (from AL Ewings story) over everyone else's. But Oliver Coipel's art (from J. Michael Straczynski's story) is a good second for me.
Thor had Loki do it because he couldn't bring himself to do it, not because he couldn't make the shot. And Loki said that it was a difficult shot to cover for his brother. So the king wouldn't look weak.
Wow. Jane Foster, Dani Moonstar and the other reborn Valkryie really dropped the ball on Valhalla. Bor should be in Valhalla, but was sent to Hel instead. I almost thought that Odin finally caught a break from this book....
from the previews of the rest of the banner of war issues, seems that odin is indeed not in the hammer at least whatever part of his consciousness is not tied to his life force
Can someone explain Loki's timeline/branching timeline because I'm struggling to keep up. As far as I was aware, Loki died and was reborn as Kid Loki, echo/ghost of original Loki took over Kid Loki and killed him, he then aged up as Ikol right? So how are there currently two Loki's in the present? One as the god of stories, the other at the funeral. What have I missed?
This is the opposite of what i wanted Marvel to do with ODIN. The AllFather ODIN needs to be brought back to his Silver Age of comics power levels & become King of Asgard again. ODIN is the best & THOR stories have more freedom when he is not mainly worried about a bunch of characters that no one cares about.
10:17 If anyone wants to know why the author and the publisher chose “Saturn”, look up a lot of the occult Saturn worship that’s floating around across the Internet as well as looking at the alternative science of the electric universe theory to understand the importance of this planet in the cultural influence of human history.
When you got celestials pulling up to a funeral you know you made it
Big facts
Pretty crazy when you realize that Odin tried to wipe their race
Big truth.

Watching this together with my Beta Ray Bill-Marvel Legends figure. Thank you for this!
This issue was one of my favorites. Especially with the Al Ewing and JMS stories.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Odin is the OG! The who’s who of the universe turned up to send him to the next life. What a flex

The Black Winter said that the Old King Thor future is no longer 616 Thor’s official future, but maybe that’ll change
don't know if y'all realize but the Watcher is there paying respects to Odin
Are you sure.... Just the watcher paying respects.. Kind of stating the obvious
@@VanillaGorilla7 well that too, since he's just watching
Look at the celestials paying respect to Odin remember when they beat tf out of him lol
wow good catch, that is quite surprising that celestials are paying respect to Odin since he fought celestials years ago
yes that the point he has the ball to fight not one but ALL of the celestial host at the same time
that worth the respect
