    I like it and have just about made the same from one pond to a lower pond with a waterfall and rocks to tie it together. Love it already but will be happy when the water flows. Then it will be Spring here and will stay home more often. You got me working!

    Great job sir,,what size pump did/should you use ?👍👍👍

    • @themusicalgardener1166
      @themusicalgardener1166  3 роки тому

      I can't remember exactly what size pump I used now but essentially you are going to be looking at when choosing a pump is the size of your pond (how many litres/gallons), how far away from you pump the water will have to travel (the head) and what you are putting in the pond (are you stocking it with fish or is it a natural pond). I built another pond last year when we moved home and this one is a natural pond so I did not care about recycling so much of the water, just that I had good flow rate for the waterfall. There is a useful guide here you use: bradshawsdirect.co.uk/blog/calculating-your-ponds-required-flow-rate/

    It has become so beautiful! Love it! Lots of work you did and a great job! You can be proud of yourself, what a magical place in your garden it is now, I am sure the garden fairies are dancing around your sweet pond now and are smiling:)

    What a great job,you have done,it looks fantastic, look forward to an update later on in the year,..my garden isn't big enough for a pond that size,so i had to settle for 2 small wildlife ponds,i got my first frog jumped in today,LOL,i dont think a garden is complete, without some sort of water feature, thank you for sharing, thoroughly enjoyed watching your video.

    Fine Video Production and results to show what can be done. I wish I could show You mine. I have worked hard and have 2 Ponds connected by a w,fall and short stream. I enjoy the pleasures of running waters.

      Thanks Angie. This particular pond was two houses ago so not sure what is like right now. For the 2 years that I was at that house for though it was really good fun. Got lots of wildlife visiting.
      Since we moved house I have built another pond. This time it is a split level pond and I have the videos for that one up on my channel as well. We we plan on staying put this time!

    Hello what size pond pump did you use please

    • @themusicalgardener1166
      @themusicalgardener1166  3 роки тому

      I think for this pond I used a pump that would push 6000 litres per hour. But it depends on what you want your pump to do and where you want it situated. If you are looking to keep something like Koi or sturgeon then you will want to be considering about shifting a lot of waste through a filter. For this pond all I really cared about is pushing the water to the top of that water feature, so I was more concerned about the max head of the pump (how far and high it would push the water). When looking at pumps it should tell you the max head and how many litres per hour it manages, it should also tell you the size to pond it can handle. Hope that helps.

    Self sustaining pond? Awesome!
    Did you stock it with any fish yet?
    Do you use traphorn snails or pond snails for algae/muck cleanup?

    The water is stagnant in the pond. It is so unhealthy. Also, would it not flood after awhile when the water keeps flowing down to the pond? Is there a way out for the water in the pond? The water in the pond will get cloudly and muddy afterawhile and in summer, it will breed mosquitoes, going to be chaotic!

    • @GazsKoiPond
      @GazsKoiPond 6 років тому

      stagnant means the water is not moving and its being pumped from the main pool to a water fall flowing back in the pond, so how could it be stagnant just need a uv filter to remove the algae

    This is not how you build a professional waterfall

    • @themusicalgardener1166
      @themusicalgardener1166  4 роки тому

      Good job I am not a professional waterfall builder. However, the water goes up to the top of the waterfall and then comes back down into the pond, so does the job for me. Thanks for watching though.

    does he not have a plan design--he dug out the first hole--then filled it in then came back again and on and on--I got tired watching him.
