I remember many battles with my dad. For anyone whom have had such life changing struggle in their family will understand. A very well done piece. No translation needed.
The language doesn’t matter, the car doesn’t matter; families are the same the world over. A son thinks his father is to controlling, rebels, and later in life realizes he was wrong and wants to amend with his father. I made an assumption when he looked at the old car, that the father was dead and he came home for his mother. This is how life plays out too many times. Don’t wait until it is too late, swallow the pride and tell the person you miss that you love them; because tomorrow may be one day more than either of you have. Subaru really hit it out of the park with this one. And their dog family ones are great too, more humor and less crying in those.
Okay, for all y’all who want to know what they’re ACTUALLY saying (instead of an interpretation) I transliterated the script. The argument section it’s hard to tell what they’re saying but it mostly transliterates to Intro Father: “Ryousuke, want to drive?” Son: “Yes!” Argument Father: “Hey, wait just a minute-“ Son: “Don’t fucking come near me” Father: “What the hell?” Son: “Goddamn old man!” Father: “GET OUT!” The son returning Son: “I’m home” Girlfriend(?): “Pardon me for intruding.” Mom: “Welcome home!” Son: “This is Naoko” Girlfriend(?): “It’s nice to meet you” Mom: “It’s nice to meet you, too” Mom (to son): “That’s where your father always is” Son: “Okay” Ending sequence: Son: “Do you want to drive?” Father: “...” Father: “It is a good car, isn’t it?” Son: “Thank you” Narrator: “Your car, what kind of story will it have?”

My father gave me my first broken rib when I was 7. I didn't know it wasn't normal to get beat up for just existing. I thought every child's injuries came from their dad, not from just playing and being a child. I'll never forget the happiest he ever made me was one time he brought home two slices of pizza for me.
Why am I crying? I don’t even understand language. Best use of music ever. Are these actors in a movie or maybe a TV show I can watch they are awesome!
ah yes, another 10/10 youtube recommendation btw if theres anybody wondering what was said in the video, essentially as a child he was asked if he wanted a ride, to which he says yes, then as an angsty teen they get into an argument, ending with the son calling the dad a shitty father ("kuso oyaji") and the father replying for him to get out of his house, he then leaves, some time passes and comes back with his girlfriend, with the mother welcoming them at the door, she then notices his glance at the old subaru, and says that his father is at the usual place/where he always is. He then re-unites with his father, and asks his father the same question "want to go for a ride?", when they then get into the car, the dad says its a good car, the son replies thank you, the video then ends with the dialogue "what stories do you have with your car?"

Incredible, the head gasket is still intact!
Didnt know Initial D had a Netflix Adaptation.
But pretty good commercial, liked it
I like how the mom is hotter than the girlfriend
Man of culture right here
Uh.... No. No not even close.
So does the son
ok kakyoin
😂
Man my ~200 anime binge has worked wonders. I can kind of understand what they said.
yeah you got that platinum weeb green card
Okay, for all y’all who want to know what they’re ACTUALLY saying (instead of an interpretation) I transliterated the script. The argument section it’s hard to tell what they’re saying but it mostly transliterates to
Intro
Father: “Ryousuke, want to drive?”
Son: “Yes!”
Argument
Father: “Hey, wait just a minute-“
Son: “Don’t fucking come near me”
Father: “What the hell?”
Son: “Goddamn old man!”
Father: “GET OUT!”
The son returning
Son: “I’m home”
Girlfriend(?): “Pardon me for intruding.”
Mom: “Welcome home!”
Son: “This is Naoko”
Girlfriend(?): “It’s nice to meet you”
Mom: “It’s nice to meet you, too”
Mom (to son): “That’s where your father always is”
Son: “Okay”
Ending sequence:
Son: “Do you want to drive?”
Father: “...”
Father: “It is a good car, isn’t it?”
Son: “Thank you”
Narrator: “Your car, what kind of story will it have?”
finally a good translation lol
weebs everywhere tryna translate
Isn't Ryousuke?
@@HakAIan You might be right on that actually. Too bad there’s no captions feature to read the kanji for the name. I can hear it now though, I’ll change it to reflect that

Man, that Legacy was beautiful. That was pretty much me the other day with mine lol
If you ever feel old, just remember that the BRZ and 86 were made 11 years ago.
Is that was Ryosuke Tahakashi?
I dont think he is
He looks like the one who drives the black porsche in wangan midnight lol.

What a very heartfelt commercial car video. Well done, Subaru! Until today, I still love to drive Forester and BRZ.
This little advertisement made me appreciate the little things in life. You might understand how I arrived with this answer but this what I learnt from it.
This commercial made me cry and touched my heart. Thank you.
That's a great commercial. The truth is that Subaru's are so good, they practically sell themselves. Bang for your buck is unmatched and they are reliable too. Well done Subaru.
i translated this as, "Dad: Son. we are going to stuff an ls1 v8 into this. i would love for us to spend more time together. and while we're at it. lets do a rocket bunny kit."
Not a v8.... 2JZ swap it.
Search for 2crazy jp performance
@@hazgebu nah. The 2jz is a fun engine with tons of potential, but v8s, especially ls engines just work
@@jacobsanders4254 ok dood but where they gonna find a ls in japan though kek. It's not like there are thousands of chevy trucks and yukons littering junk yards all across japan. It's also bout the spirit , not everyone wants to slap a ls in everything just cause it's cheap easy power. You can make 600hp on stock internals with a jz motor and spend money on better fuel system and a big ol turbinski
@@BanksySCII I know, right?? No one ever imports! EVER!
@@lilblingking1491 sad thing is this advertising and exporting sense is alien to the japanese already said in NHK and by sseth too smh
I can't speak nor understand japanese but I understand the plot. When the Dad gave him the toy car and he smiled I almost cried. Being a Father is one of the greatest and hardest things a man can accomplish.
Yeah it's true a Subaru will fix every problem you currently have or have ever had
金曜ロードショーで映画みてる時に、映画とは別にこのCMでも感動してしまうっていうね
Wszystko prawda.
いや、なんならこれに勝てる映画存在せんね
Dad: you dishonour me son, no boost or AWD? You are dead to me.
Son: arigato
Remember kids, if you *angrily yell at your father in Japanese* you'll get a BRZ
I have to watch 2 ads before watching another ad. Damn
I'm a car enthusiast, and this is one the best Auto manufacturing commercials I've ever seen :')

This made me remember my old long gone dad who only was driving Volvo when i turned up in Ford, VW, Toyota, Honda, BMW, Citroën and more and finally one day visited in a Volvo S80 and i nearly couldnt get him out of that car. Cars are for sure important for some of us. 😀
Loved the S80 with the V8 in it

My father gave me my first broken rib when I was 7. I didn't know it wasn't normal to get beat up for just existing.
I thought every child's injuries came from their dad, not from just playing and being a child.
I'll never forget the happiest he ever made me was one time he brought home two slices of pizza for me.
This commercial gets me everytime, beautiful
“Cars, bringing families together”
That legacy looks so nice n clean damn!
Why am I crying? I don’t even understand language. Best use of music ever. Are these actors in a movie or maybe a TV show I can watch they are awesome!
Dang this makes me think of my dad... letting me drive the car while sitting on his lap when I was like 4 years old... great memories 🥺

ah yes, another 10/10 youtube recommendation
btw if theres anybody wondering what was said in the video, essentially as a child he was asked if he wanted a ride, to which he says yes, then as an angsty teen they get into an argument, ending with the son calling the dad a shitty father ("kuso oyaji") and the father replying for him to get out of his house, he then leaves, some time passes and comes back with his girlfriend, with the mother welcoming them at the door, she then notices his glance at the old subaru, and says that his father is at the usual place/where he always is. He then re-unites with his father, and asks his father the same question "want to go for a ride?", when they then get into the car, the dad says its a good car, the son replies thank you, the video then ends with the dialogue "what stories do you have with your car?"
All of the animes i've watched has come to this moment
This one literally tugs on your heart strings, and hard! And to think of it, I don't even understand Japanese, except for a few words. The emotions and expressions said it all for me. Absolutely loved it. Thanks so much for sharing. Stay happy.
Why couldn't they make something like this for the STI???
It developed rod knock on the drive to the parents house
Sadly my dad is the exact opposite of this. This kind of advertisement warms my heart knowing that there’s such great dads out there.
