It was my first car. Only two seats and windows. But therefor I could begin with 100 instead of 160 % insurance costs as a beginner. So many good memories on this T3.
My parents bought ours new in 1990. I was 8. Took yearly trips with it to Las Vegas for the first 5 years and a few trips into Canada and Mexico. I bought it off my parents back in 2000 and it has been across the country several more times. It needed a rebuild and was botched by a mechanic who most likely did crack given how much his hands shook. We had a second engine put in it and the transmission was rebuilt. I'm in the process of getting mine back on the road again after sitting for a couple of years. Replaced the temp 2 sensor (engine was running rich), alternator, battery, front brake rotors and bearings, ac compressor, breather tower, spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor. It needs new valve cover gaskets and push rod tubes which I have and need to put in. I also need to do a complete fluid change of the differential and transmission, wheels and tires, body work also and a paint job. This weekend I will fix the ignition timing put in the new AFM I have and keep the old one as backup since it still works fine. Never going to sell it or get rid of it. The van is a member of the family. 😄

What a LOVELY story, man. I have a 1991 VolsWagen Polo (86C) from my Father, who died in... 1998, and I also know that feeling very well. It's impossible to me to sell it, ever!
I also love my T3 but I always load it "rear end first" on to a tow truck. I guess the tow truck guy must have found out too. The weight of the bus engine behind the rear axle of the tow truck would make the truck swing from side to side.
It's funny how people with older cars and project cars are used to load them into tow trucks at a point it's a regular thing to do. My daily is a regular car from the 90s that has never been special enough to be preserved except for the higher trim levels. So now it's pretty rare, the problem is that now it's pretty common for me to just be without a car lol
I'm proud I did own one of these, I loved it so much. Still makes me sad I had to sell but I had much fun with it. For me my all time favorite vehicle, would buy one right away if I could afford by now

Got to be the best alternator ad since the beginning of time!
What a cool "ad" ,rock on guy's 🤟
I'm proud I did own one of these, I loved it so much. Still makes me sad I had to sell but I had much fun with it. For me my all time favorite vehicle, would buy one right away if I could afford by now
Brilliant vans I really wish I’d kept mine
In the first flashback scene, when the t3 is unveiled by pulling of the tarp/scarf, the Car has a old German Licenseplate. (0:50) It starts with ‚GF‘ - which is a location code and stands for Gifhorn. A small town in Lower Saxony in North Germany.
Just wanted to share this piece of information with you, as the town also is my hometown :)
Have a nice day, thank you for your time. ;)
