That is most definitely what Andrew Skurka defines as "type 2 fun" .........not necessarily fun at the time but fun to talk about later. As always great vid.
I think this video does a nice job showing people exactly why they need to take the White Mountains seriously if they plan to hike them. The weather can become insane and it varies a ton from the trailhead to the summits above tree line in all seasons. I've heard and read so many stories of improperly prepared hikers that get into trouble in those mountains - I find it amazing that more people aren't killed.
Watching your videos makes me excited I have always loved the mountains and watching what you do gives me a desire to do this as a hobby. Too many people are caught up in technology and need to get outdoorsy. This shows that you are a true American.
One of my favorite Sintax77 videos. The coffee talk after packing up, classic! Then the "hardcore leave no tracers" talk and the "Shaddupp" at 45:29 Funny stuff! I'm in Southern California, we don't see snow as heavy or as cold. You and Mike are animals.
Amazing views on day 2. That was some intense wind on the first day. I wish that I was with you guys! lol It's been over 2 years since I watched this video. I'm re watching some of the older videos and leaving comments. I started leaving comments about 1 1/2 years ago, but I've been watching your videos for about 3 years now. Sintax77 was my very first sub.
I have watched a lot of your videos, but this one by far was the most extreme! Very impressive...... Glad it was you and not me. I am a fair weather backpacker for sure!
That was a really exciting video! I was on the edge of my seat when you two were experiencing those winds. You're really comfortable with the camera and I like your banter.
Awesome video. You guys are beasts! I am so impressed with you guys hiking in 30 degree weather and 60-100 mph winds!!! This was more intense then I would be willing to go, but it made for a THRILLING video. Don't worry about not completing the loop...you guys are awesome for just BEING out there for a few days! Gorgeous South Twin view on Day 2. What you said at 32:20 was hilarious - you said it with such a straight face! I can't believe you left so much trace in the snow. I'm surprised at you. Thanks for sharing! :D
Great video, was very entertaining to see you guys get thrown around by the wind. I bet that made a lasting winter hiking experience. Your hiking vids with Mike are usually extra fun to watch, because of the interaction between you two.
Love your videos. Seems like your plans are very detailed, but rarely pan out. Makes it exciting. I did my first winter camp-out in Wisconsin last month. It was -5F outside. A bit brutal, but a good experience. Thanks for showing us how it is done. I was a lot more comfortable because of watching your video!
Nice vid.Nobody will rip you,I give you credit for doing this in rough conditions and your passion for adventure! Kuddos to Mike ,for doing this so soon after bout with the flu. What a trooper! thanks for sharing it with us.SR
Way to get at it during rough weather. Excellent video, enjoyed it all, and it was great to see the areas in two different extremes while backtracking. Cheers!
Nice! That wind looked insane. I'm going to be getting started with winter hiking myself in the coming months, always good to see how other people manage.
Thanks for making this video you should do more videos like this I love winter backpacking more than any other type of backpacking and that was one crazy trip.
done a-lot of winter camping in the whites and its always a challenge. My winter pack weighed 60 pounds not counting water. Put on a pair of snow shoes and hike up Mt. Washington via Central Gully, wind blowing so hard if you faced it you cant exhale, turn your back to it and it sucks the wind from your lungs, Good times man. Keep up the great work.
Great video. You and your buddy made the right call retracing your trail versus trying to plod on. Trying to push on when weather or conditions are against you tends to end up on FOX or CNN as a "Search and Rescue" story. Thanks for sharing.
Wow wow wow wow! Bob from Uptrail71 told me to watch this after he watched my Washington video. I️ thought my hike up was bad...This is wild! Y’all are the real deal!
Now THAT looks like an adventure! I have to admit, I'd be terrified up on that mountain with those winds. You could've died up there, man! Looks like an absolutely great trip. Love the Nemo tent, too. Thanks and keep the great vids coming!
sintax77 i have done half the loop (mt bond, south twin, etc side ). i plan on doing the full loop this june. if you go in late may there is still to much ice and snow on mt Garfield to get over it with out the right gear, but in june it should be passable.
malcolm the wilderness hiker Good looking out. I love snow trips, but I'd really like to revisit for a full Pemi when it's nice and warm and really crush it with a lighter load-out.
sintax77 i have read if you just stick to the main loop its like 33 miles for 8 mountains.there is a couple of trails to reach a few other peaks like west bond but that will add more miles . NH is my favorite place to hike. but i am limited cause i havent been backpacking out side of new england. i live in southern MA. you should check out the bold coast in Maine. its a nice hike along the coast.
I know how you feel. My friend and I got a late start on last years winter trip and were trekking through chest high snow in the dead of the night and i told him no more and we just had to set up camp. Winter camping is my favorite but its tough.
I am appalled at all the tracks in the snow. Just kiddin! Great video as always. You make the best vids on here. Much appreciated. PS Bigfoot is known to bark!!!
Just did North and South Twins again this week. I can confirm they are less crazy on a nice summer day. I will be hitting them yet again this winter, hopefully with better weather than seen here. These winds are nuts.
@@sintax77 Thanks Shawn! Very dimechange indeed. Franconia acts like a mini Washington and throws all the air right up making for very unstable conditions most of the time. I'm the guy you just emailed with the Delaney's shots, and you on the Pinkham TV set. Looking forward to your return to the east. :)
great video man, keep em coming. me and a few of my friends recently did a winter excursion, got down to -2 with 6 inches of snow. fun stuff. BTW Mike looks tuff as nails with that beard! HA!
Regarding the canine siting. I have watched a fox bark and the best words I can use to describe it, is that it sounds like a dog with laryngitis. Canines can have several variations of barks and pitches. Great vid you guys. Gotta go: "Its cheeseburger time".
the mountains of madness!! Looks an amazing experience-- you should try out the Canadian wilderness next winter, the Canadian winter has been not so great, but after this winter-- I think it's the authentic experience : )
The thought of a Canadian backpacking trip has crossed my mind. I would definitely like to do one some day. Are there any particular trails you'd recommend?
This has to be one of the most badass videos of severe weather in the whites ever.
And still is!
Just watched this again. Without question, one of your best videos of all time!
Thanks, Marco. This one was a trip that I still vividly remember. Crazy weather and good times!
Watched this video multiple times. Definatley goes as one of my favorite hiking trips. Love the content
Absolutely mental trip. Respect to you both. Loved the "leave no trace" conversation. Laughed my ass off. Keep safe
Quite normal day in finnish army

You are one CRAZY dude. Great videos and wild stories. Keep it up and stay safe.
It is finally summer here in Maine and after watching this video I am looking forward to winter! Badass video!
I still can't believe this video isn't a million views.
Winter hiking is when really fun hiking adventures happen. Love it.
Extreme wind, then deep snow, then freezing rain! Crazy trip! that looks super cool and fun.
That is most definitely what Andrew Skurka defines as "type 2 fun" .........not necessarily fun at the time but fun to talk about later. As always great vid.
I have seen this 3-4 times. A wonderful winter hike. I really enjoy your video's.

That was some serious weather you guys dealt with. Handled it like bosses!
If I ever went on a hike like this, I'd be listening to the Skyrim soundtrack the entire way through on a loop.
Greetings from the Adirondacks...Outstanding vid. Thanks for taking the time to make it. Great shots going over the summit!
It's videos like this that inspired me to go from day hiking to backpacking. Enjoyed watching this one!
Your descriptions make the videos very entertaining! Most don't have the ability to edit as you do! Keep it up, you're one of the best at it!

Thanks for taking us along
Great video! From the intense wind to the emergency bivouac to the banter at the end. You guys are the best, keep up the good adventures syntax.
This ones definitely a confidence booster

I totally agree. I've watched his older video's multiple times. This one for the 3rd or 4th time since upload. Sintax77 was my first sub as well
looked like an epic winter adventure...winds 70+mph Beautiful Views
Yeah, we pretty much hit all of our checklists for this trip. Including things not going to plan, which always makes for the best memories :)
I have watched a lot of your videos, but this one by far was the most extreme! Very impressive...... Glad it was you and not me. I am a fair weather backpacker for sure!
Awesome adventure...that wind in the first half of the video was insane!
That was a really exciting video! I was on the edge of my seat when you two were experiencing those winds. You're really comfortable with the camera and I like your banter.
I loved every minute of your video. Thanks for the effort to film during such conditions.
yes please , looks like so much fun!

I’m amazed you guys are alive! Those big packs are acting like sails!
Now that is an extreme hiking trip heck yeah
You, sir, have got balls of steel!! Hats off!!

WOW what a breeze!
That was nuts. I can't imagine the thoughts that were running through your head during a few moments during the trip. Very cool, well done!
Great video, hope to see more now that the weather is getting better. Your mini rant at the final campsite had me laughing pretty hard.
Not sure which is more impressive; those crazy conditions or that massive burger at the end!
This looks like a wild ride. I've love to do this one day in these conditions. What a thrill...
That was awesome! Good stuff guys. Thanks for the ride.
Great camera work in that wind! Awesome trip video as usual.
Nice! That wind looked insane. I'm going to be getting started with winter hiking myself in the coming months, always good to see how other people manage.
GET yourself a freaky warm bag and like an exped downmat or synmat the extra pound is worth it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
alexandre sansoucy Yeah I picked up a down bag rated for -20*F, as well as plenty of layers.

This video makes my backpacking trips look like a nice walk in the park... This is an awesome video... Can't wait to see more 🤗🤗🤗
Wow. What a hike!
Intense!
Wise choice change of plans. Any trip which ends back at the car, with Cheeseburgers, is a successful trip - Bonding time!
Great video. You and your buddy made the right call retracing your trail versus trying to plod on. Trying to push on when weather or conditions are against you tends to end up on FOX or CNN as a "Search and Rescue" story.
Thanks for sharing.
THAT was awesome!! Haha Good job Sin and Mike!
making me miss winter already!!!
Great adventure. You guys are gutsy. Always enjoy your vids and have picked up several great tips from you. Thanks!

Great video. One of your best so far. I loved the extreme weather.
Awesome video! I've been hiking in the Ossipee Mountains the past couple of weekends, you gotta get it in before the mud season begins.
Crazy trip, you guys nailed that trail. Congrats. \m/
Wow gents...mucho respect. Amazing! And thank you for all the amazing vids!
Now THAT looks like an adventure! I have to admit, I'd be terrified up on that mountain with those winds. You could've died up there, man! Looks like an absolutely great trip. Love the Nemo tent, too. Thanks and keep the great vids coming!
i go to the pemi wilderness about 3 times a year. i love those forests and mountains.
It really is an awesome area. I'll have to go back in Spring or Summer and finally do a full Pemi Loop.
sintax77 i have done half the loop (mt bond, south twin, etc side ). i plan on doing the full loop this june. if you go in late may there is still to much ice and snow on mt Garfield to get over it with out the right gear, but in june it should be passable.

How many times did you say to yourself "damn, this was a stupid idea" haha. Great video keep them coming.
Good stuff and that was a freakin mega burger at the end!
12:14 is reminiscent of Saving Private Ryan beach scene where he goes temporarily deaf and its just chaos everywhere lol
Best video!! I had to re watch the hardcore no trace part at least 3-4 times. LOL.
You guys are crazy as hell....!! No way I would be out there with that wind blowing over 100mph!! I bow to the hiking masters!! LOL!!
It's interesting how you mad it through all of that messy weather.
I am appalled at all the tracks in the snow. Just kiddin! Great video as always. You make the best vids on here. Much appreciated. PS Bigfoot is known to bark!!!
Oh, god... I didn't even think of Bigfoot. :o
Great video and trip, Thanks for Sharing.
