Even though it was brief it was a pleasure to hear and see it in person at Retrorides. Fair play to you man, one of the nicest sounding cars there all weekend. 👍🏻
Back when I had a capristo exhaust I would always go and buy a coffee for the marshals, then casually asking where the db meters were posted around the track. They always told me :) So I would lift off or quick shift it, and people would come over to ask how on earth I did not get black flagged whilst they did. Epic.
@@driftworks it certainly deserves to be seen, and good on you for letting it enjoy the track. Probably one of the few tracked Lambo’s that is privately owned. Huge respect!
You've been working hard on both cars for such a long time, at certain points it felt like you just wouldn't get to the bottom of things. To get to where you are now and see the M3, let alone the Murci running so well, is absolutely superb! So pleased for you, amazing outcome - fought the hard way, wire by wire, day by day, mod by mod. I am so relieved to hear that you're finally going to protect that beautiful engine from all the dust and dirt that she is sucking in while making lovely noises
I’ve been aware of this car for some time but every single time I see/hear it my smile is uncontrollable. What a thing. And also love the camera car, I’ve still got a Nova rusting away unfortunately.
Every time we see the Murci in the shop I drool over it, but seeing that thing just casually rolling down a motorway is a whole other level of fuck me that's gorgeous! 🤘🤘🤘
I luv how Phil drives the wheels off his cars when they aren't taken apart for upgrades or improvements, Haha ! The Murcie and that E30 M3 are works of automotive Art.

Not VTEC, but the gas dynamics of each six cylinder bank, both exhaust and intake, if this would not run ITBs. It's why older BMWs ran intake manifolds with a valve that "made" them into two three cylinder chambers in the low revs @@tomjones5974

Please take this thing to Japan for a tour! I dont even live there but this GT1 Murciélago deserves a few laps around Osaka ring. Just imagine the echos
I have worked for a GT2 LMES team a couple of years back. We had electrical power steering colom fitted to our cars and we used them during the LM 24hrs as well. Cant remember exactly what tose were unfortunatly. I’ll try to get some info on that…
How do you even get involved with endurance racing teams & engineering/tuning etc? I feel very naturally inclined with racing, car tuning/setups, engineering & so on. It'd be an absolute dream here in the midwestern US.
This car is in my top 3 in the universe. But I swear, that exhaust note can be much better with the right manifold and short system. At the minimum; It needs a Helmholtz resonator with a low Q factor for attenuating the lower end and some mods that make the whale and scream frequency ranges louder. I also feel that there's probably not enough transitioning of header diameters to make it a bit more singy. In case anyone doubts, Yes you can tell from this kind of audio. Edit; its awesome as is but it needs to be the definition of perfection lol
Happy boy, Phil! E30 really doing the business now, and the Lambo mapped and running cleanly on track. Bet this put you on a proper high 🙏🏻 Really good to see. And those inlet temps weren't too bad at all were they, given the ambients and lack of air box? Roll on the air box though! Top dollar 👌
damn, nice camera angle over the spoiler! sheit, crazy to think that some guy in a shed created a better looking car than any other modern lambo out there in the wild
Hey Phil, pleasure to have you along as always, car is spectacular. We got you a couple of laps at least. I'd love to know how your volume compared to the hot rod we ran in the afternoon with open headers, different ends of the engineering spectrum, same joyful noise making. Our Toyota Mark2 tested at 130dB at Goodwood when it was straight piped haha
Thanks for having us guys! Yeah I wondered about the hotrod. It certainly sounded pretty load, but maybe it's the pitch of the Lambo that's the problem.
@@driftworks from the trackday noise monitoring systems I've looked at the pitch/frequency won't be a factor. Sometimes a marshall might tell you it's a straight cut gearbox or other thing that's the problem but 99.99% of the time it's just the exhaust. Hopefully you've room for a couple of little expansion mufflers for those noise unfriendly tracks (most are sadly). The unfettered song of that V12 is brilliant though.
I’ve got a Clio RS Mk3 EPAS and it’s a fair bit heftier than the mk2 but, I haven’t fitted it to anything yet, so can’t back it up with any data. Seat of the pants or otherwise. Kudos on both cars. All the right noises!
