Awesome, it's so good to see it do lap after lap without some kind of major gearbox fault lol Once the shift cut is sorted and the alignment is dialled, this will be a monster!
I've been following this build for ever. It's looking absolutely mega on that last session. The development has made that into a very serious track weapon. I'd love that car! I'm a Nissan guy but I'd definitely love that.
Man that blueberry m3 ice cream looks lush!!! So happy it's performing now and we get to see this beast in it's full potential under your hands. Loved the footage of Jay striding, having a blast and also with no issues too. Can we get some feedback from both of you on that new e30 suspension please? Really happy for you guys! Happy new year!!!
E30 gods are telling you don’t need traction control in E30 chassis ! Seriously though, great progress and video ! Cheers 🥂 and to having more fun in 2023!
Delighted for you Phil, and Jay, great achievement, and fair play for seeing it through not just huge financial cost, but huge mental cost as well. Thanks for sharing the ups and downs all the way.
It's faster because it's slightly lighter with a better balance. The shifts are slightly slower with the Drenth and the ratios aren't quite as good as they were with the DCT, but the difference is it actually works.
Those in car videos remind me of the old BTCC cars that were so effing awesome. I need to get my " track car " that I've had for years now actually ON a track instead of just mountain roads.
Gearshift strategy takes an age to get get right especially if the signals are going on over a bus. Downshifts look brutal, tweaking the overrun fuelling and banging a load of ignition advance in will help the blip response and smooth them out a bit.
Woo hoo! That’s got some understeer. Looks and sounds amazing. I had the exact same problem with my quaife gearbox and the geartronics flat shift. I had the ‘dead zone’ set too tight and when you pinged the lever for the next gear it would kind of shudder and the sensor would cut the ignition.
I actually was wondering about the shifter versus the handbrake situation would do to your brain. Haha. That's awesome. Good to see the 3 back on track.
Although i love this time of year for how minging and greasy the roads. Making it fun for doing cheeky skids and bits of sideways action, i still can't bloody wait for the summer.
Phil thanks for all the work, the car sounds lovely with the straight cut noises. I noticed you wearing some fitted earplugs too. What kinda are they and would you recommend them? I’ve been looking for some to wear on track that fit comfortably under a helmet.
Thanks Michael, funnily enough I forgot them at this event. I was shoving tissue in my ears before each run 😂. The kit I use is Fuze I think, but I can't find them in the UK anymore. I need another kit.
Last session looked like fun definitely more confidence in it 👍 is the gearbox a little quieter on the track? Any benefit to a larger/ more obvious gear indicator?
Quieter than the DCT? No, thats from a road car. The Drenth is straight-cut and very noisy (not as bad as I thought it could be). I have a new bigger dash to fit at some point.
I miss my E30 M3 so so much. Unfortunately ill health meant I had to sell and it'll take a lottery win to get another. Even a 2 door E30 shell is silly money nowadays.*
The noise from that gearbox is just beautiful, I love that straight cut gear whine 😍
Yeah, so sick!
" The first laps after doing some work are intense". Understatement of the year, Phil. Right there with you, though. Thanks
3rd camera angle was the best by far, looked like it was performing well!
I don’t mind the ‘slow stuff’ it’s a nice insight into how the car sounds being driven around normally
Awesome, it's so good to see it do lap after lap without some kind of major gearbox fault lol
Once the shift cut is sorted and the alignment is dialled, this will be a monster!
You can see what good fun you’re having after your first run. Such a laugh to be on a track day with your mates!

S65 sounds incredible as always. I feel like the m52 doesn’t get enough love in the sound department. It was quite a pleasant soundtrack as well

Well done Phill
Well done Jay
The little clap by jay at the end was gold.
God bless
Gotta say, Phil, the straight cut gears in that box is the audible cherry on top.
Epic work done by you and Jay as always.
Matching Porsches at the start of video & a sequential caged E30 M3 V8. That alone is quite simply perfection.
E30 gods are telling you don’t need traction control in E30 chassis !
Seriously though, great progress and video ! Cheers 🥂 and to having more fun in 2023!
First 5 seconds is a flex 👌Sounds amazing on track 🎧💯🥇 All the best for 2023 to all the @driftworks Family 🥂
Thanks for taking us along for the gearbox journey. Quite the machine now.
Hats off to you Phil watched the build from day one. What a machine 👏
Delighted for you Phil, and Jay, great achievement, and fair play for seeing it through not just huge financial cost, but huge mental cost as well. Thanks for sharing the ups and downs all the way.
Thanks man!
@@driftworks is it faster now, not just geometry but also because of the way it takes gears?
It's faster because it's slightly lighter with a better balance. The shifts are slightly slower with the Drenth and the ratios aren't quite as good as they were with the DCT, but the difference is it actually works.
Sounds the nuts from the cockpit of the beemer.the gearbox is awesome. Great work on getting that gearbox in.🔥👍
The new gearbox works well. Very fast and accurate. Works well in cooperation with the engine.
has a nice V8 supercars vibe to the noise now!! awesome sauce!
That is astonishing performance!! Love the update vid Phil, top work👍🏻
Thanks man!
This must be heaven to drive man, especially with the sequential
This video is true happiness 😊 cool to see it works this good after all the dct hassle.
Thanks man!
i love when my Tomos gears sound like that....what a rocket man
Those in car videos remind me of the old BTCC cars that were so effing awesome. I need to get my " track car " that I've had for years now actually ON a track instead of just mountain roads.
Fitment is on point ❤
Some car and some great work done by Phil and jay class
Great vid again driftworks . A really well built rocket 🚀 that's for sure .
Enjoyed that. Sequential box is the way to go !
That might just be the best M30 M3 in existence👍
Gearshift strategy takes an age to get get right especially if the signals are going on over a bus. Downshifts look brutal, tweaking the overrun fuelling and banging a load of ignition advance in will help the blip response and smooth them out a bit.
amazing!!! What an incredible car you've all built!!!
The gearbox whine sounds 👍

I usually put my videos into list Watch Later. Not this one I've been waiting for this Phil.
This things going to be a weapon once everything is dialed in and you've got some better track conditions
so good to see someone hammer donington and from a cars ooint if view compared to us 2-wheel nutters.
I actually was wondering about the shifter versus the handbrake situation would do to your brain. Haha. That's awesome. Good to see the 3 back on track.

Thats got to feel sooooo much more like a touring car now with that gearbox. Few tweaks and itll be mint.
speakin frozen conditions; ""that gearbox is the ICING on the cake!!
Continuer comme sa , vous me faite rêver, vous êtes les rois 👍
That paint quality on the roll cage is better than most cars off the production lines nowadays get in jay cherry head
Been waiting for this upload, certified ripper confirmed 🤘🏼
Epic driving at the end
Love you guys
The BMW sounds incredible 👍🤯 and it looks amazing 😍.
Cheers
So so cool. The noise alone would be enough to not want to get out
What a car. Awesome. And I love how you build a car, then drive the nuts off it. Top stuff🤘
Thanks 👍
The pace on that M3 is mental in the flesh/metal. Thanks again for allowing me to fanboy on the day. Top lads 🚙💥💥
Thanks Jon! 👍
Lovely cagoule, James.
nice work guys!
Nothing says Christmas like a trackday 👍
This is just incredible guys ! More upshift flyby shots though we need to hear the up shifts from the outside 😬😬😬😬
Buzzing this was the outcome! Would like to see more of Jays E30 and the Yaris in the future but e30 M3 is epic!
Normally the vid would have more of them in it, but no-one was running cameras. We were just having a fun day out.
@@driftworks certainly not a complaint! What it’s all about 👍🏼
What a car! Very high quality video !
Thanks 👍
Beautiful car the M3,i love it!👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That’s a proper track car. Good luck trying to sleep at night because you’re going to be antsy thinking about going back to Donington!
i still get so excited whenever you upload even after all these years, plans on getting this on the ring? or anothee toy
I'd definitely take it to the ring now (or after I finish the next phase of work). We're considering booking for next year.
Any guess the e30 is phils favourite track car lol
incredible pace 👏
Looks good, sounds good. Keep up the amazing work!
Cheers. Will do.
So chuffed for you Phil!
Thanks man!
Even with no TC, it doesnt look to hard to catch and/or looks pretty stable when the rear slips.
Yeah it's got a good ratio of grip to power as the S65 has low torque at low revs.
Great entertaining video. Cheers lads. Have a good new year
Cheers 👍
Awesome!
Gotta say though jays helmet would go well in the 33 😂😂😂
such a yumy M3 love it !

Nearly 3 minutes of decent footage there mate top job 😂
Jays bit was quiet poetic I thought , as the clio yielded to the E30
Mega - love it!
How’s it going fellas hope you had great Xmas looking forward to this phill . 👍🏻😉
you should get a chin mount for the helmet/go pro. search up
Misha Charoudin's recent videos and you can see how immersive it is
A monster just got more Monster good skills
Last session looked like fun definitely more confidence in it 👍 is the gearbox a little quieter on the track?

Oh hello, happy holidays, should be a great video :)
Lovely flow on that final session, enjoyed that rip!
Can't describe how happy it makes me knowing that the DCT is gone
y
Long time subscriber, i have only just realized now that its lhd
All E30 M3s are unless converted 👍
Don’t like Beemers in general. All but the e30 M3. Love your beautiful car
🥶❄️esta bien frio saludos desde Alabama bmw life
Awesome guys👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Dude.that things fast! 95% dialled in, maybe a bit wider front tires foe the understeer... 👍
That's my plan. They don't make these wheels any more unfortunately though.
Professionally late 🤣🤣 i like that
Dude, I have this exact same car!…… On GTA 5 😂 absolutely beautiful dream car
Jesus that's fast. Any chance of adding a bottom corner revs and speed to the next vid?
I need to buy the Aim camera that goes with the new Dash I have. Then I can probably do that.
Sick! Turn off hypersmooth on the gopro if you wanna remove the tracking 👌
I have it on on purpose, it adds a lot to a video You just have to point in the right direction in the first place 😂
I have an E30 and I gotta say, no E30 has any business being that fast haha
😄
Awesome guys!! Love this car! Supercharger now! Lol…
Sounds just like an Australian V8 supercar!
Not the first to say that, and it's a strong compliment 👍
I miss my E30 M3 so so much. Unfortunately ill health meant I had to sell and it'll take a lottery win to get another. Even a 2 door E30 shell is silly money nowadays.*
Fucking beautiful E30 M3 💯🔥🔥🔥
Бэха это поцанячая машина. Бэха, это стильно и круто.
Weapon ❤
Those camera angles eek!!!
That thing is rapid, credit to you guys. Just imagine it on an 18degree dry day what it will do.... jeesus
Can we have the 10-1 v10 update and start up.
Not until there's an update and we start it up 😂
Nice
Is it the load sensor on the shifter when it springs back to centre? Seeing a load when it stops suddenly causing the second cut?
Turns out if I’d watched 5 more minutes you’ve come to the same conclusion haha
Yep. There is a setting in the ECU to stop multiple blip / cut requests in a given amount of time, but I was playing with the wrong setting I believe.
Is that an electric assist steering column?
It is. It's from a Clio.
Huge Real view mirror and tiny side view mirrors are funny.just like the rest of the car.
Is this beginning of sequential swapping everything in the DW fleet? 👀
No, it's great for a track car. Most of my cars are road cars though. I wouldn't want a dog box.
