  • IMO there is only 1 lure you need to catch bass - and it's a classic. A Texas Rigged soft plastic stickbait or Senko will catch bass on practically any lake, any pond, any body of water that has fish.

I’m not gonna lie…I felt super accomplished when you opened up the storage locker and I could see you are using the same Walmart storage boxes for your lures that I use. It’s a small confidence thing for me. Awesome job man!

The only thing is hard bait storage, I've switched to Flambeau Zerust boxes - worth the extra few bucks to not have the rust monster wreck a rack of trebles.

I use waterproof heavy mesh backed envelopes, and hot knife down pool noodles ( yeah I know) for large Bates. And a float bag with terminal and tools. Mikey BigBalzz dishing it like I like it! The caveat for the “if you’re fishing Florida” rocks! So many things that work elsewhere just don’t fly in Florida. Please keep that coming.
In this heat, I will often go fishing with no tackle bag. My only baits I’m using are in my pocket . Just throwing a stick bait one of the many versatile ways.
I would add that an unweighted senko on even lighter flouro is also very deadly right now. Especially on pressured lakes. I do have a new hot color that is a “Florida caveat”. 😎

I won a tournament on cherokee lake flipping the ol senko all day today. I was setting on the couch last night thinking about past fishing trips and remembered years ago the t-rigged senko use to produce so much fish for me when fishing was tough but I have gotten away from it over the years. Low and behold old faithful pulled threw like always today. And just like you said I was fishing behind people most the day catching fish behind them. Good stuff man.

Fishing central FL, catch most of my fish on 1. Speed worm, 2. Stick bait, 3. Chatterbait. That order. Colors: Junebug, Black & Blue, Green Pumpkin. Not necessarily that order. Depends on water clarity.

One of my closest fishing spots is a old water reservoir that has been not been in service in 40 years. It's a 10 minute drive from my house and is kayak or canoe only .
It's about 30 acres and at its deep, 50' at its deepest , a few shallow shelves some grass and ultra gin clear.
No lie I went last night and could see 6 ' down without a light, it is literally the clearest water I have ever fished in.
The smaller dumber fish will hit most lures but those big girls are smart and not easily fooled which is why I fish this place mostly at night.
Even at night with the gin clear water finesse is the key

    • @mikeybalzz

so tbh it's something i haven't played with a bunch but need to. usually when i need some very light weight on a stickbait like that i'll just run a neko rig with a nail weight but i think there's something to the belly weight and getting the more horizontal fall on the bait or having it sort of lay on the grass vs dive into it.

Texas rigged with a tungsten bullet weight is catching them on the bottom of the cooler water. Ribbon tails work better than the stick bait in my area. The fish see so manny wacky rigged worms. This pond in my backyard and through the woods…. I can’t get a stick bait to be weedless. Maybe it’s because my weight isn’t pegged, or my bullet weight is too heavy. It’s so frustrating because it’s loaded with 3-5 lbers but not good water flow so it has tons of thick grass (the whole thing pretty much) and when I retrieve my 30lb braid from the top to about 5 feet down just picks up all the grass and it collects at my weight and the hole between my offset and where my hook goes back into my worm. Any suggestions??? Thanks!
