The x-talker is a heavy user of its battery. It works great on a scheduled conversation, but leaving it on for several hours in standby (listening) mode like when hunting, quicky kills the battery after a few hours (virtually without warning). this could be a problem in wooded areas where cellphone service is not available.
Unfortunately, they ship it with an 850mah battery pack. You can find higher capacity rechargeable NiNH batteries, but you'll need an external charger.
then mission control will have full control over them from home base you are clear for lonch I would put a security code in the radios that way thay are on lock down from other people talking to them but thay will still hear them only have fun and be safe.

The midland channels 1-7 and 15-22 is 2 watts of power on TX shared with GMRS . channels 8-14 are .5watts frs only. So your lesser radio is probably frs only with 1/2 of a watt.

Sorry I can't answer that. The radios were stolen from our RV before I needed to to that. However, they are rechargeable batteries and the radios can be put on the charger without opening the back.

you are hearing this from a real radio operater to do 20 miles your radio need's a P L tone installed in the radio for that radio to talk to a tower then you need your licensee to use the G M R S side of the radio your call sign is the phone number for your radio with all the radios around I can not call you if I don't get your call sign and ham radio is the same thing.

Considering your comment regarding battery consumption I would have one of those external batteries for mobile phones to carry around with me...
simple do what I do on a event charge a second set of batteries and pack them in for the long hall.

You're partially correct. You can use up to 2watts, however these are probably around 1watt at best.

FRS radios can not have removable antenna s, and can't be modded either. Channels 1-7+15-22 are high power channels.

If you're on a mountain, you can reach 26 miles. In a city, you'll be lucky to get over a mile.
