    The x-talker is a heavy user of its battery. It works great on a scheduled conversation, but leaving it on for several hours in standby (listening) mode like when hunting, quicky kills the battery after a few hours (virtually without warning). this could be a problem in wooded areas where cellphone service is not available.

      Considering your comment regarding battery consumption I would have one of those external batteries for mobile phones to carry around with me...

      simple do what I do on a event charge a second set of batteries and pack them in for the long hall.

      Unfortunately, they ship it with an 850mah battery pack. You can find higher capacity rechargeable NiNH batteries, but you'll need an external charger.

      @@RKingis I have two external battery charger's to charge my back up batterysso when I am at a all day event I can change out and keep going.

      then mission control will have full control over them from home base
      you are clear for lonch I would put a security code in the radios that way
      thay are on lock down from other people talking to them but thay
      will still hear them only have fun and be safe.

    Its a Midland cross talker! big difference in price too.

      you get what you pay fore mine are brand X thay went for $ 150. each
      base came in at $ 250 and for got I have no privet codes as there not
      and I use G M R S channels any way secerit RUGGED RADIO RADIO for the
      out doors just 5 watts for hot and $ 250 for base station at 45 watts
      we are on repeaters on 150 FT radio towers.

    The midland channels 1-7 and 15-22 is 2 watts of power on TX shared with GMRS . channels 8-14 are .5watts frs only. So your lesser radio is probably frs only with 1/2 of a watt.

      sorry you got it wrong channels 1 through 22 are F R S only at 1 1/2 of a watt
      and work on all 22 channels G M R S is 5 watts hand held and my base is 45 watts output and use a radio tower to work radio to tower to radio 20 miles away.

      You're partially correct. You can use up to 2watts, however these are probably around 1watt at best.

      SORRY channels 1 through 22 are a half a watt channels 15 through 22
      are both half a watt and 5 watts this group of channels are the
      off repeater channels for G M R S and would sound like police talking but
      it is us using are call signs as your radio will trip are repeater open the repeater

      you can not work out of a 2 ton can never work's radio waves only go through
      glass the rest bounce back at you I hold a G M R S radio licensee so I know
      not him.

    the one thing no one knows you cant talk out of a can a half a watt won't go through the car frame but will go through the windows as you really don't under stand radio

      all family service radio's are on the same 1=22 so yes thay will work together
      and there all in the one mile range or line of site

      Yeah..I hate to say it because everything else is really works well...is I'm disappointed in the range....It wouldn't have bothered me except it's listed for 28 miles...I assumed it would have been half that..tempered my expectations some what...but was disappointed that I was out of range after 1/2 mile...I have to keep them due to damage I put the box thru opening up...but for around the small property we have they do alright...

      the 28 miles is done on G M R S after you work on the radio Toget
      It to talk to a G M R S tower and you need a license also it will
      set you back 35.00 dollars with the F C C and it's good for 10 years
      and yes I am a license holder and for got no test and covers
      you hole house hold

      FRS radios can not have removable antenna s, and can't be modded either. Channels 1-7+15-22 are high power channels.

      NO NO NO channels 1 through 22 are family service channels 15 repeater
      channel through rpt 22 are G M R S I am a G M R S license holder
      and we use radio towers to talk 20 miles and I do every day.

      Pheara Lim The T51VP3 is an FRS radio, not GMRS, and therefore doesn’t require a license.

      @@nickademus1229 actually on this radio channels 1 through 7 and 15 through 22 are GMRS. Unlicensed users are only supposed to use channels 8-14 which on this radio are lower powered channels with much shorter range. The user in this video was on 7 which is higher powered GMRS channel which could explain the better reception, especially if the other radio was operating on a non GMRS channel.

      @@amcascooper90 As of 2018, FRS is now all 22 channels, with up to 2 watts on channels 1-7+15-22, and a half watt on 8-14.

      Sorry I can't answer that. The radios were stolen from our RV before I needed to to that. However, they are rechargeable batteries and the radios can be put on the charger without opening the back.

      You have to slide the clip off hich has a little clamp on top of the clip holder and then the battery cover slides off sorry I'm late but just got them yesterday

    Maybe you should try putting 0.5 MI unless you have absolute optimal conditions no wind no rain not too cold absolutely nothing whatsoever in your way in order for it to actually work up to 26 miles. It's b******* that you guys sell stuff like this basically lying on the cover and putting the 26 miles so big on the front that you cause people to think that you can actually talk 26 mi away. When you cannot even talk half of that distance or a quarter of a distance or an eighth of that distance. Crap.

      OK I will tell you you need to use a computer patch cord and radio
      you put in the input tone on a G M R S tower then your radio will talk to the tower then you need to get your license for G M R S as you are talking 20 miles
      its like your phone at home you want to have me call you I need your number
      to call you.

      G M R S which requires a license then you would get 20 miles as I do
      every day on repeater towers at 150 FT and thay have a 60 repeater
      on it to re brodcast your signel 20 miles which I do every day
      DON"T CALL ANY women that name we don't talk like that on are systum
      as we are licensed. GROW UP

      you are hearing this from a real radio operater to do 20 miles your radio need's a P L tone installed in the radio for that radio to talk to a tower then you need your licensee to use the G M R S side of the radio your call sign is the phone number
      for your radio with all the radios around I can not call you if I don't get your call sign and ham radio is the same thing.

      your radio will work at 26 miles go to repeater channels 15 know your on
      G M R S channels there is a tower grid here in my town each tower has
      a 60 watt repeater on it I go in at 45 watts on one channel come out on second channel at 60 watts that is how thay work

    Colette well let's start you for got to tell the world that to be on G M R S radio
    will cost you $ 35.00 dollars to the FCC for your licensee you cant play on my towers without one or the F C C will nok on your door then there is a C D rom to donload on a
    computer to load into the radio so it can talk to a tower then ou can play with us
    I am W R X N 824 stay on F R S no license and one mile range as walter would say
    HAVE A N I C E E DAY clear and monitoring

      These do NOT require a license to operate on any channel.
