@@TomNeedler I'm almost 60. The haunting and beautiful music of the Durutti Column which I have followed for 40 years will go with me when I leave this world. Wonderful music.
What a pleasure to hear Vini sing his tribute to Ian Curtis: There was a boy I almost knew him A glance exchanged Made me feel good Leaving some signs Now a legend The dream was wrought Where thoughts were heard Love is reserved From previous times [chorus] Like a dead bird in the dirt Like a rusty can on the ground I don't believe in stardom Machinery in action Full of experts Full of experts Same old order Same old order Same old order Watch with obsession Some accident of beauty Try to capture As the light begins to fail Shapes to compose Shadows of frailty The dream is better Dissolves into softness But the end The end is always the same [chorus] There was a boy I almost knew him A glance exchanged Made me feel good Leaving some signs Now a legend
Buy the LC durutti column just re-mastered from benelux. Just received it, and is incredible double play with 7 inch. No disappointment here. Buy buy buy…..!!!
It’s a late 1970’s Gibson Les Paul Custom (which throughout this era were fitted with Humbucking pickups) in a red-pink sunburst finish, with gold plated hardware. Looks great and sounds just wonderful in Vini Reilly’s hands. And it looks like he’s playing it through a Roland SRE-555 Space Echo into a Fender Twin Reverb amplifier. Fabulous band and music, also thanks to Bruce Mitchell on the drums. Great footage, too.
Video editing gives Bruce his due. Joy to watch.
It sounds like nothing else.
both sketches and Missing boy, still magic
I wish I could make electric guitar sound as plainly beautiful as this.
Unbelievable recording. Captured an amazing essence of the performance, felt like I was there.

A full and respectful crowd giving undivided attention. Beautiful

tony, the ghost that never sleeps
This is pure gold!
Vini's guitar and mitchells drums still mystical as there studio recordings
Drum sound is amazing.
To my eternal shame - I was 16 in 1981, lived in Macclesfield and it took me nearly 40 year to get into Durutti Column
Its never too late.....
19 and from macclesfield, loving them right now.

hey, all the better that you discovered them after all. I'm sure you didn't discover your decent music taste yesterday and spent the years well
Bruce seems so happy to drum for his friend Vini
This is absolute tripped-out bliss. Sensational.
Vini Reilly+the guitar=unbound creativity.
R.I.P missing boy...18-5-80.
Ian is missed....
Awesome. Was lucky enough to meet Vini some years back, what a talent, a fantastic pairing.
Vinnie couldn't sing worth a fuck but THAT was the beauty in his music and performances. Genius composer, guitarist and lad.
Be with someone who looks at you the way Bruce looks at Vini.
Sem palavras, simplesmente transcendental!
Ventolin was always my drug of choice as well. I was surfing in Morocco that day though.
at 19:47 bruce mitchell is in essence a column of what it feels to be durutti at its finest moment
Pure bliss and ecstasy.

Thanks for sharing, beautiful Vini's guitars.. 🙏✨

This blew my mind. Felt like I was there. Bruces drum and focus on Vini is a gaze lost space.
That is Bruce mitchell on drums no?
@@chef.ramesses Corrected TY for rightly pointing out the error in my mistake.
The whole show, thank you very much.
Love how most people there don't seem that impressed but the one guy at the bottom left at 13:30 is really into it.
Bruce @19.47 - exactly what the music means to him
Pure joy to watch Mr. Mitchell playing.
Catharsis, nirvana!

Amazing. Thanks to upload.
What a pleasure to hear Vini sing his tribute to Ian Curtis:
There was a boy
I almost knew him
A glance exchanged
Made me feel good
Leaving some signs
Now a legend
The dream was wrought
Where thoughts were heard
Love is reserved
From previous times
[chorus]
Like a dead bird in the dirt
Like a rusty can on the ground
I don't believe in stardom
Machinery in action
Full of experts
Full of experts
Same old order
Same old order
Same old order
Watch with obsession
Some accident of beauty
Try to capture
As the light begins to fail
Shapes to compose
Shadows of frailty
The dream is better
Dissolves into softness
But the end
The end is always the same
[chorus]
There was a boy
I almost knew him
A glance exchanged
Made me feel good
Leaving some signs
Now a legend
