It's gutting that there are so few Nerve bootlegs out there, but the 2 I have found from the 2012 tour have absolutely insane 10-15 minute improv sections in the middle of the sets. I think that's what it was a clip from.
whenever my favorite drummers drop a stick or I don't know miss a cymbal, As a drummer I get so excited, I am always like "HE DROPPED HIS STICK, HE IS HUMAN AFTER ALL, THERE IS STILL HOPE FOR ME!!!" but in reality... I am fucked... But HEY.. I can stilL DreaM!
yea Drummer here too, G. thats a funny point you made, and as we all know The Show must go on,but don't feel bad about your skills or whatev,,just because he Rocks so well.! Every good musician tries Not to feel a diss at personal skill level check, because its more like,, a critique-{if you need it}..but as an established high level being,,you add those differences to your OWN SET and learn how to soak it up ,but still feel worthy as a drummer of that level-plus Not everybody GETS it.. so relax man...all the non musicians don't really always notice what we call,A Mistake..for the most part...Dude just connect to the inner beat and I thank you for pulsing along~D
That's got to be the best Nerve performance I've see! I'm a big JoJo Mayer fan... but I always found myself underwhelmed by his work with Nerve. I would love to see this unabridged!!!
It is like it is sort of supposed to be dance music...but nobody is dancing...there are just standing there stupefied in amazement at those hardcore skills and intensity.
The serious crack snare is a marching drum like pad I think. You’re talking about the one set to his left? Or just his regular snare? I think he did use a 13” beech picallo
OK, here is my comment. Listen to JoJo Mayer & Nerve, and it's better than alcohol, drugs and psychotherapy, all at once. Just shut up and listen, and go away from your problems for a while. When you're done, you will have a new perspective and motivation. And it's not a cult, it's MUSIC!
I'm a drummer that plays mostly death /thrash and heavy metal, and have done for the last 32 years, However its very rare I find myself listening to metal, I usually seek out musicians music (for want of a better word) I find it's so much better for my own writing and playing abilities.
It's because he's using the traditional grip, and if he wants to hit correctly the drum he have to take this position (sorry for my english i'm a french student)
If he keeps using this posture to play drums for many more years he will eventually suffer spine problems, that is for sure. He can change their position of the drums thats all he need is just matter of he is accostume to that. But any way he is one of the top drummers in the world there is no doubt about it. I saw hiw in performance this NAMM 2013 and he was amazing was my first time that i saw. Absolutely fantastic.
You gotta give Mayer madd props, he's essentially soloing all F'n night! No fat cells to run on either, very well conditioned drummer... sic. No fat drummers could play all night like this all night, they'd litterly boil in their own poisons.
+generatrix999 Jojo's background in jazz helps with endurance as do his techniques. moore and spears are awesome drummers but not on Jojo's level. they could play this long but not with the technical proficiency of jojo. Ive seen Aaron play and hes ridiculous but he is dying at the end of each set
So many reasons that all boil down to how you practice and what feels better. But either way, it's called traditional grip, it's a lot less uncomfortable then it looks and you get less power but more subtlety in essence.
7 years later, still looking for that 6:49 dope song

i love it when he drops his stick and continues at the same tempo like nothing happened..what a master..
JJM... one of the GREAT drummers....
The Cream 40 years later, only difference IMHO Jojo is one of the top 3 drummers ALL TIMES.
My goodness, what am I hearing and seeing? My brain cannot even compute all of this intensity!
I just watched this twice in a row. I had to, in order for it to make sense in my brain. Amazing.
Wahaaaaaaaa!!!!it´s a big song..i love this band thanks jojo
sick... went in one ear and out the other while I was doing most of my studying, but now love them more than ever

i started to listen and like electronic music just becouse of jojo.
Love the bass player checking out Jojo...bassist and drummers are the married couple in every band. At least in most.
Jojo Mayer and Guthrie Govan do a show together. I would like to see this. They both have such young, child like enthusiasm and are masters.
Great drummer, great music!!!!!!!!
Crazy Mayer.. Damn !
I love his Sonor drum set! SNAREs are SICK !
I love it with that Bass player.

6:27.. the show must go on.. he just made one of the greatest comebacks in history of drumming
He gets some serious crack out of that snare, It almost cuts like a steel shell. I believe its a 27 ply of beech wood, What a great snare sound.
The serious crack snare is a marching drum like pad I think. You’re talking about the one set to his left? Or just his regular snare? I think he did use a 13” beech picallo
@@SgtCrazy128 His main snare, I think its like a 4x14 or something like that with a beech shell
looks like a Moog Liberation on the top and a Roland Juno 106 on the bottom, there's also a laptop and a little controller keyboard on his left
weak crowd ..wicked sound ..jojo mastered this instrumental DnB/chillstep i ♥ it ...rly awsome skills and awsome music =)
No "chillstep" here mate
The drum kit is a Sonor Lite from the 1980's, very nice sound. Kind of the Designers predecessor.
it sounds great, thanks for the info!
Jojo is the man!!!!!! Also, the man drops his sticks quite often lol
CRAZZZZYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Un cousin qu'envoie la sauce comme il faut!!!
it was a compliment derrrrrrrrrrrr

glitter. they released it for free download a few days ago.
It's one big jam. 70 % of what they play is improvisation. They play fragments from some songs.

1:25 Gotcha!
9:38 so much groove in this man, eargasm!
its not uncomfortable or not, its dedication! not caring for comfort

"musicians music" is a perfect take, and why most musicians do not care for mainstream, non musicians don't understand
hahaha! music perfection:)

Master
Whats the date of the concert?
It's called glitter. It's on the nerve band camp page.
Takuya is a Sick Crazy!!!!
why did he leave?
It's because he's using the traditional grip, and if he wants to hit correctly the drum he have to take this position (sorry for my english i'm a french student)

You gotta give Mayer madd props, he's essentially soloing all F'n night!
No fat cells to run on either, very well conditioned drummer... sic.
No fat drummers could play all night like this all night, they'd litterly boil in their own poisons.
I LOVE Jojo, but Aaron Spears could play this hard for this long.
Dylan D'Alatri As much as Eric Moore! Agree!
