The most difficult issue I had with assembly was that the directions included lettered parts description (a,b,c exc.), which was not indicated on the actual parts. However there are very few pieces to assemble so once I stopped going by those, and looked at the pieces in front of me, it all fell into place.
Having some sort of knowledge on standard drum arrangement to begin with is helpful.
I spent more time after assembly tweaking the drum pads into their final resting place then all else combined, including shipping. Not really on that last part, but shipping was only two days so I have no complaints. I would recommend this kit for beginners, and advanced student for use with a daw.
Just throwing this out there GarageBand is free, and compatible, but there are more studio quality programs out there.

I just bought this kit yesterday and assembled it today in about 2 hours. I was taking my time but I have to say the visual instructions were fantastic. I build a lot of LEGOs so perhaps I'm just accustomed to visual instructions but putting this together was an absolute snap. And the kit sounds awesome through headphones and through my Acoustasonic Fender amp when I feel like I want to annoy the neighbors!!

Actually, this video, along with the "picture" instructions that come with it, was very helpful. Between the two, most should be able to assemble it successfully. If you're one who feels like you'd like to torch your local IKEA, this kind of kit probably isn't for you.

@@lucyferina Yep, when you purchase a product that needs to be assembled you should take photos, go to the store (where they likely won't go out of their way to to help), then just go back home and figure it out. Not trying to knock you or the product but their "instructions/manual" are absolute shit. I sell very different equipment but there's always a manual to refer to for everything. Nothing is labeled or numbered which is helpful when there are multiple steps in a single photo. Alesis, get your shit together. And of course Sweetwater has in depth, instructional videos that cover every area of the product

Sure, this video is probably great for people who have owned or played on a drum set before, but I have never played on one in my life, and this video has long bits of video without any explanation of what he is doing. Any set of cans will do, even cheap ear buds that came with your phone. But I'd probably look at closed back (and over ear) for the best sound. You're not going to be mastering with these - it's just to monitor your session, so I wouldn't blow a lot of money on a set a cans if all you'll be using them is for silent playing.
