I remember this game well. In my youth this was at Kroger and I spent lots of allowance on this game. Interesting looking at it now, the "smiling exploding fly" was like the Spider from Centipede/Millipede: the closer you were to him when he died, the more points he was worth (400-700-1000)
That's the nice thing about this game: when you lose a life you get a small compensation. The super spray at least lets you blitz through the next couple of levels. Also, level 19 is where the men get separated from the boys. My max was only about level 25 and I put a LOT of quarters into this game.
Sure this game wasn't that popular in arcades, But I think this game made a great final DK arcade game release!

This game doesn't get the credit it deserves.
It was and is a terrible game. It would had never been heard of if not for the DK name.
@@tartgreenapple Well, like most things it's very subjective. For example I thought "Avatar" was an average movie, especially when viewed on a TV screen in 2D.
This was the only DK game I could play and I loved it.

That's not a world record, I used to put up scores at least 10 times greater. Stayed on this game for hours. The other kids used to get mad because they'd put their quarters in and couldn't play because I stayed on so long. I warned them not to. Oh well, those certainly were the days

This game is shit .
First of all, why won't the bees attack the monkey when he's the one hitting up their beehive ?
They come rushing down and don't even see the gorilla.
It was such a disappointing cash grab when it came out. Kind of like the Atari 2600 version of Pac-Man. There should have been a class-action lawsuit for that pile of shit.
This game has similarities to Space Firebird.
Feels more like a better version of Galaxian to me.

For these difficulty settings yes. I believe a score 13,957,600 score exists on MAME Action Replay where the game was looped twice on "Easy" settings by the same person who did this run
