Yes, I don't understand this "tyyyyme's money mayne" mentality. What money? Are you a managing director of a bank or what? Do you have an extensive real estate portfolio that you are overseeing, my brother? Get out of here. I am financially very successful and got my hands full in terms of the managerial duties I have to take care of in my company, but yet somehow I still have time to relax and take it easy in my free time. I enjoy life slow, because life is better enjoyed slow. But then again, I'm probably a bit older than this guy making the videos, so it's all good... Hehe, I remember when I thought I was the shit in my 20's too. Now in my 40's I kinda chuckle at my young self.
Ladies and gents: remember to enjoy life, and remember to _take your time_ while you're at it!
      Peace and love.

So places like La Mayoría (hopefully I spelled that right) the was a spot in el centro mall where the food was authentic from Choco. Everything was amazing I never had to pick up the salt or pepper, or sauces. Bring from America the one thing that was definitely different was the beverages. They weren't as sweet as they are here

As a Colombian I can say that you are damn right about almost everything!!!.... time has no value and people never show up on time for anything, flaky women? no just women, is everybody !! your friends, your relatives, everyone, you can not count on them for anything and their "word" has no value, that is why I don't like to do business in Colombia, you hire someone to do some work, they tell you a week and they take months! and then you have to chase them so they finish whatever work they are supposed to finish. I disagree a little about the food but I understand your point, Colombian food can be simple because they don't use much condiments or spices as, let's say, indian food or Mexican, but there is variety of food in Colombia and you have to go to different regions. I live in USA and here I am not fan of the chain restaurants, food is so salty and not healthy at all, so my point is, restaurants in Colombia use organic ingredients so it is a lot more healthy, not the genetic modified Monsanto stuff we are eating here.

@@inolvidable. I 100%agree with you, if you say you'll be there at 5 be there, I know that I would be there when I said that I would be, so, start getting ready at 3:30, not start at 5, my time is also valuable, I have broken up with a couple of beautiful women because of this time B.S. If they don't care that you're there and made a restaurant reservation for 5 and then you've waited for them since 5 and they show up at 8 to me that's just plain ignorant and I have no tolerance for that no matter how beautiful the woman is. I usually walk away, But, since I was already there waiting, I will wait until she shows up and then say good-bye to her, there's always another beautiful woman who might respect the time frame if you tell her what happened and why you left your last woman on your last date. and I also tell them that if we do have a date and I have to wait more than a 1/2 hour, to not bother showing up, as I will be gone. Canadian and American women are the same, this just isn't a Columbian thing, it's a woman thing and they all think that they're all special and that the world will wait for them, well I won't wait, they're like the busses if you miss one there's another one coming in 15 minutes, lol

I disagree with you in regards to Colombian food. Is not only rice and beans. There are many delicious kinds of beef, poultry, and seafood dishes. There are lots of restaurants in Medellin, from holes in the wall to expensive typical restaurants that sell all typical Colombian dishes and the variety is quite ample. In Colombia, we don't spice the food like Mexicans or some Asians countries do. The spicy sauce is called AJI and is served on the side because not everyone is a spice lover or tolerant. :) Remember also that there are regions in Colombia where the food is different from each other and delicious.

That is what people from other countries have a problem with, it’s just salt, people here than black pepper is spicy. I like the food, but that is what most people struggle with. It's true about living there! And, the farther away from the city you go, the better. So many little towns within an hour. I lived 45 min out of Medellin and lived very well. My overhead was around $600-$800 a month depending on the adventures I would go on. Lived in an apartment/condo on the 3rd floor with views of everything. Had a TV, fast Internet, phone, 2 bedrooms, an office, full kitchen for $300 a month. I will go back and live there again.

Thanks Sly for the con video. My advice to the newby traveler to Colombia, Brazil, etc. would be to stock up on clothes, shoes at Wal-mart before you leave. Prices for clothes are way inflated compared to what we spend stateside. I stayed with a family for about a week in the Los America neighborhood. Their food was uniquely bland, but very wholesome at the same time. I never had that "bloated" feeling after a meal. I found a hot pepper in their house, and squeezed the juice all over my soup and they literally freaked out. I didn't really experience the flakiness side of the women. But the trade off is that, their initial friendliness and approachability and chances of being a quality/beautiful woman in the long run, outweigh the typical encounters with the average woman in the States. The advantage that us expats have with extended overseas visits is that we have time on our side to evaluate and determine the most reliable and sincere women. I appreciate all your vids...I'm wrapping up some details with the VA then I'll hit Medellin late March or early April.

You are correct. The downside for women is finding bras, panties and dress that fit unless you o up a dress size or two. In Colombians are always late. You should consider coming to La Ceja, Colombia. The price of rent for a new townhouse roughly 1,500 sq.ft., 3 bed rooms 2.5 baths. 1car garage is $450.

I believe there are many colombian people who plans stuff on an average early time, but most colombians (sure all those i know) do stuff very late.
Going to my moms house for christmass is quite a hell, i get there at the right time, but the other ones are late
"at the same time", 1-2 hrs late...so i believe as a colombian i am the one who does stuff too early...

I know how is with the time, but it's part of our culture, like if we are raised like that it's so hard to go out from those habits. I am an International business's student, and I still have hard times trying to organize time, but I know business's world demands that. An advice is like repeatedly confirm everything with us Colombian people, and tell them how important is for you, we are somehow respectful, so maybe they will understand. If you invite a girl, and you know she is interested in you as well, like don't make plans for days later, when you ask her if she is doing something and she answers nothing, then tell her about a nice plan, we are moment people, we live the moment. Another strategy I apply with my friends is that I told them one hour or an half hour earlier that actually is, believe me is the best you can do, then you will make sure they will be there on time, and if they are earlier, hahaha then they will wait for u, taking a spoon of their own medicine ahahaha

Hello, interesting video. I'm Peruvian living in the USA over thirty years and also familiar with many other countries. I do agree with you on your issues. Number one is not for me but the other ones are not really negatives, to me they are just cultural. Like any other foreign country you are going to experience cultural differences. I hate unpunctuality and flaky people too, especially doing business or one on one meeting, I really don't care when it is a party where many other people attend. Regarding the food, it's true that is mostly plain simple, some too greasy and others just too much carbohydrates but there are some that I love and feel they are delicious, especially the soups. Yeah, the food will not win any international competition compared to food that are more sophisticated but it's all natural. Actually I found Medellin improving the culinary scene, more and more international food restaurants are available today, obviously they can't compete in price with the local food. But overall, if you adapt yourself to their costumes, Medellin is a vibrant place much better than many other cities in the World.

I love Medellin and other places in Colombia. It’s just a beautiful country and the people are generally good. It’s more dangerous than the United States in general though because there is still a lot of poverty and it’s not a police state like much of the United States is. I’m a white man that’s about six foot and one eighty five with blue eyes, so I stand out as someone probably not from Colombia and that has some downsides. Also I have not been able to become very fluent in Spanish and most people there don’t speak English just like most Americans don’t speak Spanish. You can’t be in a hurry for anything there and if you don’t like it you should just leave because you’re just going to aggravate yourself and everyone around you. Colombians seem to live a healthier lifestyle than Americans on average from what I have observed. They don’t eat as much processed food as Americans and don’t smoke very much. They have a healthcare system that is very good and inexpensive which is a bonus also. You do have to be very careful to avoid someone giving you a drug called scopolamine if you’re out and look like a person with money. It’s a powerful drug that is used for robbery often over there, I only mention this because most people are unaware of that. As an American you have to adjust to simple things being different there, such as toilet paper is often not available in public places and you put it in a trash can not the toilet. I guess they don’t have the money to waste on the infrastructure needed and the cost of clogged toilets which is considerable if you think about it. They conserve water I’ve been told but Medellin women shower quite often and expect you to do the same and an abundance of hot water is not a high priority there as far as I can tell. I’ve been told it’s healthier not to take hot showers so maybe that’s a plus.

I think US citizens overreact a lot with colombian girls, they have some nice chicks out there but i do not think it's nothing out of the ordinary. I even think colombian girls are hot but they usually do not have a pretty face, they do not have so much miscegenation comparing to other latin american countries. I see here in youtube how americans freak out with colombian girls but they need to low his expectatives a little bit lol i seen better chicks in other countries and i am big, big lover of latinas.
Medellin is a great city, funny thing is Bogotá is a city of leftist (they always vote for the left party) and Medelin is a strong right-wing city, it's a curious contrast, it's like Medellin is a reppublican city and Bogotá a democrat city, they have a great rivalry even in politics. It was a shithole in the 90s and now is a modern and "safe" city. The metro is really modern and it is comparable to the metros of big and modern european cities. Men and women are always late in Columbia. Its not that important for them to be on time

I want to move to Colombia with my wife. I am British and she is Tunisian. Do you think a restaurant with North African cuisine would do well in Colombia and who would I reach out to for help with opening shop? How much money should I plan to lay out and how easy or difficult is it to move food into Colombia from abroad?

You forgot to mention the biggest downside. There is no beach! And if the food is bland, that's like 70% of it. I don't see what the big deal is. It's a mish mash of different aspects. There's the ghetto, the condo area, the big city streets and mountain - more rural areas. The girls all straighten their hair and wear tight jeans and tennis shoes. Kinda reminds me of how girls used to dress in the 80's in USA, lol.

It hurts when ignorant poor people give opinions. Really? Colombia does not have beaches?
Just to name *Tayrona Park* has one of the most beautiful beaches on Earth. And, what is this?

Wearing tight jeans and straight hair is from the 80’s? *If there is a city leader in fashion is Medellín: The Most Innovative City in the World.* You cannot be more stupid, jealous and probably ugly guy, either because it is not your country being featured on the video, or because you could not get or win one of those beautiful women. They are too beautiful for you. Ignorant, stay in your country, we don’t want people like you visiting.

You need to visit better restaurants in Medellin. Rice and Been are served in the cheap corrientazos. But not in the elegant restaurants. So you have to spend some more $. Stop eating in those low class & you will see how wrong you are.
