I'm Honduran and like to spend time there. Your video is on point.👍 The reason Honduran people look so different is because they have several native tribes that are different racially. Mayans, Tolupanes, Misquitos, and Garifuna are native tribes but look different from one another. Some are brown, some are copper, some have that aboriginal color, etc. then you have waves of immigrants everything from Spanish, Irish, Jews, Palestinians, and Africans. Even black people differ themselves from one another. You have the Garifunas that were African slaves that escaped their captors before reaching their destination. Garifunas tend to be more African ethnic looking. The other group of blacks are "Negros Ingleses" which were freed slaves from England. These guys tend to be more like the bloodline of NFL players since they have great physical features and usually have their slave owners names like Smith, Thomas, Johnson, etc. They pride themselves on not being directly african since most today are biracial. Then. you have the Misquitos which are short and stout. Then you have "Caracoles"(slang term which means "seashell") which are those blacks from the Bay Islands that aren't garifuna nor are freed slaves; they tend to be biracial and usually speak English with a Caribbean accent. There were parts of Honduras where you have predominantly white people like in the department(state) of Santa barbara which was migrated by Irish in the mid-1800's. They was once also once an Indian migration when freed indentured slave workers from nearby countries that replaced African slaves after England abolished slavery and wealthy english sugar cane plantation owners were left scrambling for laborers. So there's everything in Honduras.
Wow you described so much perseverance and diversity in your country.. There are a lot of similar things just like here in America as well. I would love to visit Honduras one day.

I'm from Southeast Asia, and my bf is from honduras, and we're in a long distance relationship. And I am very blessed by him. And I'm excited to come here to this beautiful country.
I don't comment often. This video was super helpful. It really helped give a good overview for those of us that like to explore and are sitting on the fence.
Among Latinos, they know Honduras women are gorgeous, non Latinos are barely exploring that, hopefully stays that way, we don't need another Medellin, also the country is 90% mestizo, the islands were under British rule for a couple hundred years, the address is rather easy in San pedro sula, if you know the quadrants, when they say 9st 8th Ave NO, it means northwest, and then the house number ex: casa 1234 9 ave means the house is on 9th Ave 8th st, means the closer street is 8th, stay safe.
Gorgeous but serious bias. My ex was Honduran and his wife now slept with his brother to have kids because he couldn’t. And all the ones I’ve met in his family have a holier than thou attitude
I'm non Latino and I know what you mean;) I married a Honduran lady from tela ! My life is awesome here family treats me nice tooo so I agree a gringo from south carolina usa
I am glad you enjoyed yourself here! A bit of context on everything you mentioned. 1:07 Honduran people ARE very friendly. I also travel a lot and here in Central America, I'd say honduran people are second after guatemalans when it comes to being friendly. We make a lot of noise, we are happy, we are welcoming and, most importantly, we are noble. Sure, you'll find some idiots somewhere, but overall, people will be welcoming. 2:15 Yes there is a lot of MESOAMERICAN culture in Honduras. Mexico and Central America share ancestors, so a lot of what you'll see in Mexico, you'll see it here. Also, we used to be a part of the Mexican Empire before becoming the Federal Repubic of Central America and eventually dividing into the five nations we now know. 2:47 Yes. Bachata is the most listened genre. Then we can mention reggaeton and punta. Since we are very caribbean-like, the noisier the music is, the better the party will be. I don't like any of those genres (except fr punta), but I can understand why my fellow hondurans love them. 4:02 Beaches and coral reefs are the international standard for honduran tourism, but the western side of the country, the mayan part, is also visited by many, mostly europeans. 4:32 A way to make tourism more flexible is to allow USD into the accepted currencies, so yes, the more touristic the place is, the more USD will be accepted. Tegucigalpa does not accept USD. 4:42 Bay islands used to be British, so english is the main language, but you'll also be able to speak english in the rest of the country. Garifuna is completely unknown in mainland Honduras. Main languages are spanish and english. 5:48 Honduran women ARE gorgeous. In my adventuresi've noticed honduran women are underrated, as they not only have nice facial traits, but also interesting body types. They are also goofy, some are intelligent, and pretty much all of them will be a good companion. Can't say the same about us honduran men haha 7:31 Yup. Nobody uses actual adresses here. We are used to simply mention reference points or street names, but never an actual building number. For instance, an adress here in the surrounding areas of Tegucigalpa would be: Km.8 1/2 (kilometer or mile in which the building is located), RN 25 (name of the road), "plaza blue moon" (building name) That's pretty much it. I've enjoyed this series and hope you come back for more. Try Copan Ruins, Talgua caves or Lancetilla Botanic garden (second largest in the planet). Also come to the capital, there's cool museums and you'll find that the city is different from what we are all used to see, as it used to be a mining town named Teguz Galpa (silver mountains), which makes the city very unique, with narrow streets and very steep terrains. Crime is high only in the slums, but you won't find much danger in downtown areas.
Tus observaciones están 100% correctas mi hermano solo que los hombres también somos amables divertidos y muy buena compañía talves seamos ojos alegres pero bueno nadie es perfecto jajajajaaj
I'll be visiting several cities in Honduras in June. Curious to know how much Spanish is spoken in Roatán? Half the reason I travel is so I can use my Spanish, not really loving the idea of being in a place where I won't be able to speak much Spanish. Looking forward to visiting San Pedro Sula though, much more so than Roatán.
@@rodneysocial6985 The Bay Islands' primary language is English, but people do speak Spanish. If you want beaches close to SPS, go to La Ceiba. You'll be able to visit Lancetilla Botanic Garden there (second largest in the world), eat baleadas and enjoy some Punta. There you can speak Spanish and take a Ferri to Roatán so that you don't lose the experience :D
My stepmother from Honduras and dad married my stepmother for over 40 years and yes you speaking the truth ! The women have great family tradition ! Stepmom speak Spanish
Im now traveling in Honduras and used the local busses to go from the border copan to santa rosa then san pedro sula and now im on Utila. In the four days I was in the country I didn't met or see any tourist, really cool!
I know this video is older but I like you! Very chill narrative and just my speed. I'm living in Costa Rica right now with my son and just opening my heart and mind to living in other countries so I'm binge watching. Thank you!
I'm very grateful for this video. I'm seriously considering visiting Honduras. I want to go somewhere where that's not overly contaminated by American tourists. I appreciate it. 👍🏾🤙🏾
My husband is from Honduras. Him, my one year old son (at the time), and I went to visit the country in 2018. His family lives in Tegucigalpa, so that is where we spent our time. Everyone was kind that I met. The city surprised me in that I expected there to be much more vegetation than there was. It was mostly dirt where trees or grass should be. When we traveled to the coast for a day I saw lots of vegetation and hills. I am not sure why the city did not have much. Since we stayed with family I never paid attention to how different the addresses were there.
Tegucigalpa like any big city is mostly an urban jungle devoid of natural life. Visit the Coastal regions next time, much less crime too. Oh, these convoluted antiquated system of numbering houses. My address reads, green house across from Yellow apartments, a block from a mini market. Amuse yourself with this, I recently went to get my drivers license, where I was told I could not take the drivers test in shorts and sandals (sandals I could kind of understand). "It's disrespectful to enter the building in such attire" remarked the policeman. BANANA REPUBLICS AND THEIR ANTIQUATED STYLES!
Bachata started in Honduras. My wife is Dominican and bachata is huge there. It is my favorite music and has been for years. I lived in Tegucigalpa Honduras in 1998-2000 was there when the worst hurricane in 300 years in the Caribbean had a direct hit on Honduras. I left my heart in Honduras
I am a bit confused with your comment??? Bachata started and has its origins in Honduras?? Are you sure about that? I don't think believe that is true? What makes you say and believe that? From my understanding Bachata is a genre of music that originated in the Dominican Republic in the 20th century. It contains elements of European, indigenous Taino and African musical elements, representing the cultural diversity of the Dominican population.
Go to the mainland too! Great scenary, beautiful mountains and lakes, colonial cities like Comayagua and Siguatepeque, Tegucigalpa, the capital, is Great, lots of art, culture and history here and on the west you have Copán Ruins, which used to he one of the most advanced cities of the Mayan civilization. The coast is great, World class but theres lot more to do in the rest of the country
We don't have school shooting in Honduras I live here in Texas and I'm planning to remove my kids from schools and move back to my beautiful country of Honduras no country is perfect but who wants to be dealing with schools shooting? Thank you for visiting my country I hope you come back soon
@@florahapp5409 just do it sister I wish I would have done this long time ago but it's never too late I'm working on it.. are you aware that you can own a house in Honduras for $30,000?
I just said the exact same thing. I’ve told my grandma (who’s from Choluteca, Honduras) that Honduras never had a problem with school shootings before. Nor El Salvador (My dads from there) even tho El Salvador’s biggest problem is Gang violence, but still no school shooting. I was born in L.A. and I’ve visited Honduras and El Salvador and one of the things I’ve noticed about people over there is that most them work hard everyday, including kids younger than me. There’s also less crazy people over there than there is here.
@@ElSauxy02 not country is perfect but what I don't like about U.S is the propaganda machine that they use and most people believe it we can live in our country of origin but The this doesn't benefit the U.S this is they keep telling only bad things about our countries but people starting to wake up and mark my word people are leaving the US that's why it getting harder to get an U.S passport we re waiting for our passport and will be out of U.S
Wow Sly in Honduras 😲😎🙌👍 I have always been curious about this country Honduras. I know this is sadly where Rapper Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes passed away. R.I.P. Now I am motivated to hit that fly button out of the UK to adventure around Central America my mind was on Costa Rica, Panama Nicaragua, and now I will for sure add Honduras to the bucket list.
The driving hasn't gotten much better, but they have been repairing potholes in Tela and Ceiba; which makes the driving a little safer. Lisa was close with Dr Sebi, I drive past his USHA regularly, come visit.
I'm American livin in Roatan for 7 years. I've never even seen a fight in roatan. Maybe nobody yelling. Its possible to make a friend for life holding the door for someone. The people are amazing. The only thing thats alarming is the police/security with military grade guns everywhere but I always wonder why do they need the big guns when I havent seen any crime? Maybe them having the guns is the reason there isn't any crime? Who knows but I feel unbelievably safe. roatan 🇭🇳🇭🇳🇭🇳
Roatan is definitely the safest area in Honduras. It's not by accident! I wish they apply the same effort on the mainland. A local shared with me how someone tried to import the extortion business against Cabs. Within a week he was found floating in water.
OH man, I've been over-busy and am about to binge myself up to speed on these videos! Like always, Sly you always do best work on these and I appreciate you taking us through Honduras, and I can't wait to go through all the Puerto Rico videos coming up.
regarding the addresses: the system is called "Plus Codes" or "Open Location Codes" (OLC). They are designed to be used with or without a network connection and are particularly useful in areas with inadequate or no street addressing systems. Plus Codes consist of a six-character or eight-character code, which includes a plus sign (+) in the middle. The six-character code represents an area of approximately 14 meters by 14 meters, while the eight-character code represents an area of approximately 2 meters by 3 meters. (but only used by google)
I'm lost both ways! it was a problem with my bank as I was giving color of houses and a large tree nearby address. I thought it was funny when I told bank, if neighbor changes the color of his house, I'LL GIVE YOU A CALL! TOO SERIOUS B of A,
My family are from there I recommend to go to Pulhapanzak a well known waterfall you can stay in at their small huts and zip line in front of the waterfall. It's located at San Buenaventura 😁
My friends and i traveled there a few times back in the early 90s . You are right. Very underrated. We visited Tegucigalpal , sand perdro Sula, el Progresso etc. Punta is the general music there ,paranda, bachata,Caribean salsa ,comba, reggae ,merengue, etc . You are right about the addresses.Tegucigalpa interesting. Very steep decent and crazy climb for the planes so most people would not land at that airport but would go to sand perdro Sula and drive back to Tegucigalpa. We wanted to experience what most tourist would never experience so we had connected with local friends there . It was not so bad as it is now .but enjoyed every moment of it . Traveling to the mountains, the incas ruines ,etc .the clubs In Tegucigalpa awesome!curves galore. No UA-cam then.love your videos reminded me of what I did without UA-cam from South East Asia, central and South America and even Europe.
Mayan Ruins, Incas are from South America, clubs are great only problem is they close too early, around 2 or 3 am in Tegucigalpa, its a bit different from City to city and on few dates they stay open all night, come again anytime you like
Nacaome on my visit list this summer! once a week we drive to Porkies restaurant about 30 minutes outside Tela. Porky cook the pork in ovens using wood, very unique taste.
Bachata, merengue, but punta it is part of their culture. The Bachata and merengue back in the day they were some hundurans musicians integrated with dominicans music bands.
Mexico Influences the whole Latinamerica there's no suprise you'll find mariachis in Honduras as we are brothers and sisters. You're right it is pronounced "Honduran " without the "I" . Thank you for visiting my home country and display the good and friendly side of my people.
I saw alot of beautiful women in your videos of Honduras and what looks to be good food and nice beaches ! Can't get much better than that. It is definitely on my list .
Bruh your vid made laugh haha. Good video man, loved it especially the women part 😂😂 Glad you loved our country and hopefully visit it more often. Take care man 👏🏽🤝🏽🇭🇳🇭🇳
If I remember correctly, the addresses in Cuba are structured that way also. I believe the first part gives the driver/person an approximation instead of driving the entire length looking for a number.
Some of the women Reach American Soil they change real quick since they are not used to having money weekly or bi-weekly, but overall they can cook and send money once a week to their parents
Interesting. I like your take on Honduras. Bachata is universal. I don’t know someone who knows the Spanish language that don’t listen to bachata. So that was funny. But agreed the best people!
I can vouch for USD not being accepted anywhere else in Honduras, besides Roatan. I think the Hondurans understand the importance of being friendly especially when you’re in business. There are many places you can buy the same thing, so it helps to be friendly. Forget about addresses, most of the time it will be based on a specific business. For example if I live one block south of Pollolandia, it will be The Neighborhood name, and then where your house is in relation to Pollolandia. Tegucigalpa has street names.
I love Honduras. I was stationed on the mainland while in the Air Force in 1994 and 2005. Went to Roatan both times! I want to go back after watching your videos. 😊
Bring stationed at Soto Como was the best 2 years of my life. This was back in the early 2000s. Befriended some of the Hondurans also stationed there, would invite me back to their towns they were from in rural Honduras. Don’t get me started on the women. Lol,I’m Glad I was single back then
Honduran people are really friendly, however San Pedro Sula Was the number 1 most deadly city in the world. It’s no longer there, in glad you enjoyed your stay. If you ever come back we do have uber now.
Lived in Honduras for 3 1/2 years. Been to some nice beaches after living in south Fl, Tampa and visiting Greece. The best one I've been to are in Roatan. Tela is a close second. Friendly people and food is good. A typical Honduran breakfast is much better than one at a fast food establishment. Recommend not wearing your best watch, necklace, etc.. Leave that at home or in your hotel/motel room. No need to temp people to rob you.
Agree fully with your commonsense recommendation, my wife is one of those. She dresses like a Gringa, armed with the American approach, I just make suggestions. When they snatch your Jewelry or purse don't expect me to chase anyone, I've guaranteed her.
dude you are a life send! This is my number one place to go! I been looking at Honduras for over ten years! But there was never any videos to watch or learn from! thanks for the video! I agree the women there are the best looking I have seen! would love to have a one on one conversation with you.
@@mierypesado6740 lots of outdoor activities. The safest places would be caye caulker and San Pedro. Garfunia people are to the south In the main land who are the Afro indigenous people there.
@@mierypesado6740 Belize City is ok. The casino is pretty decent but keep your head on a swivel. My taxi driver there won't drive at night because of the murders. A woman tried to steal my phone which could happen anywhere. Most tourism is on the islands. Mayan ruin tours are great and relatively safe. Zip lining, cave tubing are about an hour away from Belize city. San Pedro Island is the party spot. Bring mosquito repellent.
My Mom was from Honduras from San Pedro sula and met my Dad that was a America from Champaign Illinois and we haven't been back since 2012 it looks like everything is decent done thier. And I don't have a good relationship with my relative's at all so I am just going to chill bye myself and go be sad somewhere else but try to enjoy it 😊 and stay positive and just be in my Illinois world 😊💯
We appreciate your channel brother. Man I can’t wait to get my passport and start traveling 💯✈️😎 Does USD go a long way in Honduras or Central America in general?
Indeed my friend here in Honduras there is a couple things to get used to I know sounds hard but with some time you’ll get away with it. Saludos desde San Pedro Sula👌🏻
Some insight on address (Im honduran) Those weird numbers are autogenerated, we DON'T DO ADDRESSES, everything is reference based. You'll need to ask someone and they will tell you " yeah go to X landmark, 3 blocks right, 2 blocks leftf, you will then see a dog peeing on a tree or an old lady sitting outside, or a red truck...., then 2 houses from there" .... The dog, the lady or the car will always be there. This is no joke XD
Honduras and it's people are so beautiful!! I would move to Roatan in a second if I could. The beaches, the wildlife, the people.... I love it all! I visit EVERY chance I get. I really need to make plans to explore more of it;I just keep ending up back in/near Roatan.
Really appreciate these videos, as I'll be in Honduras in about2 weeks (June 13), visiting San Pedro Sula, Copán Ruinas and Roatán. Curious to know if Uber or some other ride sharing service is there and any advice or tips is welcome.
SPS has Uber. Tegucigalpa too. Concerning advice, idk. If you, for some weird reason, want to travel through city surroundings and slums, just make sure you don't wear nike shoes and shirts with an "18" or "13" on them. Try to appear lectured on food prices as people tend to sell stuff with higher prices to tourists. A Baleada, for example, shouldn't cost you more than 25 lps. If you visit Copán, PLEASE try Copan Dry, our national drink. Particularly the banana one. After that, just enjoy. There's nothing other-wordly about Honduras, as media often portrays it. SPS, for example, will feel just as any other city in a developed nation. Beautiful streets, sunny day, nice buildings, restaurants, luxury. Really nothing to worry about.
We do have uber though. Also be sure to know the conversion rate from dollars to lempiras because some folk might want to charge you way more. If they say a price then ask for a discount, they'll usually bring it down a little or to the normal price. Watch out for numbered taxis because they charge a lot too, consider using Uber as the app will give you a better price and it's much safer.
Yes, the addresses are complicated for outsiders, my address is lower quarter across from lácteos Daisy 😂 😆 😝. Also the cities in the mainland have a similar vibe , but very few foreign tourists.
The address issue is a thing really highlighted even in our country, but that's mainly in Tegucigalpa, not all cities are like that, the reasons are historical, and people are not guilty about its design (I know you're not pointing out the people, but just as a fact).
0:30 yeah you are right, I believe it was from 2012 through 2016 that San Pedro Sula was the most dangerous city in the world. Today is still dangerous is usually classify in top 30.
@@franciscovasquez9781 Although Trinidad and Tobago are so close to the coast of South America, they are not considered part of it. They are considered a Caribbean nation

I love visiting Honduras! I've found the people to be very welcoming, kind and humble. The food is amazing. I love Tela, Punta Sal, Cayos Cochinos, Trujillo and Sambo Creek. Going back in August & can't wait. There's so much to see & do there.
Go to talgua cave's,that's in olancho, you'll love it..

The wages of sin is death (hell) but Jesus paid our debt on the cross, for our salvation! We must turn to God and away from our sinful ways, Confess Jesus is Lord and believe with our hearts that he was risen from the dead by God, and we must be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit and live by His word and Commandments! Trust that God will help with the rest!

Visit Roatan i haven't been there but my wife is from there enjoy the video about the place.
I'm from Southeast Asia, and my bf is from honduras, and we're in a long distance relationship. And I am very blessed by him. And I'm excited to come here to this beautiful country.
Thanks for noticing Honduran women are underrated! I felt that! My family has tons of beautiful women
As a Honduran dj, I can tell you that we love Caribbean music. From merengue, to reggae. Anything with good vibes. That’s what we love.
It's ok to be a silent traveler
Gorgeous but serious bias. My ex was Honduran and his wife now slept with his brother to have kids because he couldn’t. And all the ones I’ve met in his family have a holier than thou attitude
@Somptuosité Candle are You talking to me? I'm bilingual, are you?
I'm non Latino and I know what you mean;) I married a Honduran lady from tela ! My life is awesome here family treats me nice tooo so I agree a gringo from south carolina usa
You just wishhhhhhhh to be half like Medellin 🤣
My gf is honduran lol, just watched this with her and she really enjoyed this. Also great to see another brother getting out and travelling
Hondurans are good vibes people, greetings from Panamá 🇵🇦!
If you really want to have a real adventure Honduras is the perfect place! We have so many beautiful national parks and beaches to visit.

Thanks for the Honduras series! You convinced me it’s safe enough to visit and now I’m gonna find out for myself soon!
Love Honduran women, have worked with many here in the states. So much fun to be around. Love the fried tacos, music and great personalities. 👍
what kind of tacos

I am a US citizen living in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and I have lived as a Honduran for 24 years.
Damn Dave,I guess you are more catracho than me
SO YOU HAVE YOUR BACK WET..NO GREEN CARD
Can't say the same about us honduran men haha
7:31 Yup. Nobody uses actual adresses here. We are used to simply mention reference points or street names, but never an actual building number. For instance, an adress here in the surrounding areas of Tegucigalpa would be: Km.8 1/2 (kilometer or mile in which the building is located), RN 25 (name of the road), "plaza blue moon" (building name)
That's pretty much it.
@@Edenrior1990 Jaja no sí amigo, lo que pasa es que no estamos al nivel de las hondureñas.
@@rodneysocial6985 Almost everyone in Roatan speaks Spanish, they just prefer to speak in English.

Nice video thanks for all the information..👍👍👍
As an Honduran decent, what you said about the address is super accurate. That's how my cousin in Tela gave me her address, it's how they do things

Thanks for the update! I plan on visiting soon.
Im now traveling in Honduras and used the local busses to go from the border copan to santa rosa then san pedro sula and now im on Utila. In the four days I was in the country I didn't met or see any tourist, really cool!
Great review & I appreciate the honesty I’m Honduran living in NYC but have family over there so it’s nice to get some recognition
I know this video is older but I like you! Very chill narrative and just my speed. I'm living in Costa Rica right now with my son and just opening my heart and mind to living in other countries so I'm binge watching. Thank you!
Thank you for talking about my homeland! I try to visit 2x per year.
You garinagu?
Tegucigalpa like any big city is mostly an urban jungle devoid of natural life.
Visit the Coastal regions next time, much less crime too.
Oh, these convoluted antiquated system of numbering houses. My address reads, green house across from Yellow apartments, a block from a mini market.
Amuse yourself with this,
I recently went to get my drivers license, where I was told I could not take the drivers test in shorts and sandals (sandals I could kind of understand).
"It's disrespectful to enter the building in such attire" remarked the policeman.
BANANA REPUBLICS AND THEIR ANTIQUATED STYLES!
Thanks for visiting! I hope you enjoyed it!
You are right it definitely started in DR
Bachata started in DR
Maybe you are referring to the punta, the punta rhythm, I think the person in the video also confused the punta with the bachata
Yeah, you helped a lot. Going to the Honduras coast. Thank you
Go to the mainland too!

There’s also less crazy people over there than there is here.

regarding the addresses: the system is called "Plus Codes" or "Open Location Codes" (OLC).

This is no joke XD
omg this was hilarious, well done lol

Very nice video my friend 🍉🍇thanks for sharing 🍉🍇🍈
Gracias amigo por sus comentarios bendiciones
Excellent Video , I would visit 👍🏾
Thank you💌
Thank you for your good opinion about our country also for visit us. God Bless you.
