Once Arcane season two is wrapped up, you should know that Invincible season three comes in February, so I imagine that'd be next on your list. Hopefully after that, you'll FINALLY give Legend of Vox Machina a watch. 🙏
@@LettsReact @LettsReact for a little more about angel dust you could watch the music video "addict". I think is cannon (or at least as cannon as the pilot). I'm not sure if there is more videos about hazbin in the vivziepop channel.
True and I have to tell you. if You see a boxing ball as Valentinos face you will be suprised of just how many combos you can throw in just a few pieces of lyrics of this song.
Tbf, you could apply that to "Valentino: *does or says literally anything* " and it would be just as accurate. Mostly because Valentino is such an irredeemable dumpsterfire prick that just by his nature anything he does or says is a capital crime.
They did this "swear jar" thing to promote the series with the VAs. Swear and describe the characters. They were all pretty appropriate. Charlie's VA forced out one or two, Vaggie's VA threw them around like candy, but Valentino's VA ran out of English swears and started using Spanish...and then some in Portuguese.
Over my lifetime I have seen some incredible fandom ships involving villains. The fact that pretty much the entire HH fandom has decided that Valentino can only be shipped with Raid or DDT is giving me LIFE.
Fun observation here: Charlie is at NO point afraid of or intimidated by Val. He threatens Angel by threatening to hurt her but not to her face. Charlie leaves because her friend, Angel, asks her to leave and she feels bad that she may have caused him trouble, not because Val scared her off. Charlie is the daughter of Lucifer and Lilith. She is, despite her looks, a powerful demon. She’s just too nice to rip Val’s wings off and tell him what’s what.
I do wonder if Val is right when he says she can't interfere with Angel's contract, or if he's bluffing. Have the rulers of Hell ever tried to nullify a soul contract? What happens to an Overlord's souls when they are killed? (Charlie would never. But I think Vaggie would, for her sake.)
@@marithflugelhorn7352 She could probably try to bribe or coerce him into freeing Angel (or yeah, just kill Val), but I'm not sure she could just break the contract by fiat. It has both their names on it, which in hell probably has a sort of authority to it.
@@BremenSA Ohhh ur right it does have his name in it. But if angel dies, val would still be alive. I think it'd be quite stupid if when val dies so does angel, kinda feels wayyy unfair
@@BremenSA ye I get what u meant, I was talkin abt the sentence where u mentioned she could kill val but maybe angel would die possibly. Everything else u said I agreed with. That was the only part I was like it's good but it could be better! (Also I don't want 1 of my fav characters to die 😭)
For an episode that deals with such intense subject matter is also had one of my favorite comedy moments in the show. “Angel!!” “I’m… coming!” “Not off camera you’re not!”
It's heartbreaking how Angel was so much more scared for Charlie than for himself. You tell he only kicked her out to protect her. He really does care.
@@denjiiiyttyooo244 It isn't a plothole. Characters don't have the same knowledge and use the same logic the viewers do. Val is allpowerful in Angel's eyes, and Charlie is a sweet and kind girl who barely swears and raises her voice. Even if he's aware of her alleged power (that she hasn't showed yet), logic goes out of the window when his abuser and the person he cares about are involved.
@@denjiiiyttyooo244 you have to remember Angel has been victimized by Val for a long time. When it comes to his care for Charlie he might not exactly be rational. Val has so much power over him and hurts him so much and so often, his fear response for Charlie is an instinct and not driven by logic. Like when someone projects their fear on to someone they care about, Eg, a parent who almost drowned or had a sibling who drowned not wanting their child to go anywhere near water ever, because of their own phobias.
"Loser, Baby" is such a fantastic song. Keith David and Blake Roman have great voices, and I love the message. It's not your usual, "cheer up, things will get better" song. It's more realistic. Yeah, Angel's life is screwed up, but at least he's not alone. He now has someone who understands that he can confide in.
While it might be a kind gesture to tell someone that everything will be fine, it can also ring kind of hollow and create false expectations since you know deep down inside your heart that things will stay bad for god knows how long. So sometimes it can help to think like Husker and use healing negativity to cope with the pain. “Yeah, your life sucks, but I'm here for you if you need me.”
I had a therapist once who kept telling me to think positively, and I would respond, "But I don't believe those things." She'd say, "Sometimes you just have to bullshit yourself until you believe it." I left that therapist for unrelated reasons, but that advice never sat well with me. If I have to lie to convince myself I'm a good person and things are okay, then I'm *not* a good person and things *aren't* okay, are they? Seems shitty to say "you'll only feel better if you live in a fantasy world".
once, years ago, somebody thanked me for genuinely listening to them when they told me things, and sitting in the emotion with them rather than immediately trying to cheer them up instead. it stuck with me so much. sometimes all people need is somebody who gets it, or is willing to try and get it.
@gr1mreap3rz15 I'm a very friendly guy with a traditional empathetic mentality, meaning I soak up the emotions of those around me. Makes it easy for me to understand how others are feeling, and help them work through their problems. Only downside is that plenty of times I begin to feel depression hit hard for myself as well.
So the visuals in “Poison” is Angel’s workday after Charlie leaves, and when he sings “I disassociate, disappear,” he actually starts disassociating and it keeps flipping between what’s actually happening and what Angel is imagining in order to protect himself. And then if you look at the table in his dressing room, there’s another bottle of Velvette’s “love potion” (the same thing that was used to spike Angel’s drink in the dive bar), and the amount of potion in the bottle goes down over the course of the song. 😭😭😭😭😭 (And the “love potion” is based on Val’s spit, which he slathered all over Charlie’s arm…)
This is a fun, yet unnerving fact. You notice when Valentino spits up red gunk from his mouth occasionally or when he smokes the cigarette has regular smoke while when Val exhales it’s red. That’s because Valentino is a moth demon and like real world moths and other such insects they secrete pheromones. When he licked Charlie, he tried to turn her into one of his sex workers, I don’t know what the term is for it but because she’s half angel and half demon she was immune to his advances and to his pheromones, not to mention they only work on Sinners and not Hellborn. That’s how Valentino has so many underlings in the adult film industry, how he got Angel to sell his soul to him, and why he became an Overlord of Hell. He knows how to manipulate others with his tantalizing saliva, which is not only disgusting but it’s genuinely terrifying. That’s the “poison” that Angel was referring to. Val saying this in Episode 2 supports this fact as well… “Just put something inside them, that’s how I get the bitches to behave.” Furthermore that Loan Shark who tried to spike Angel’s drink had a love potion, that love potion was actually made by Velvette, another one of the Vees by using Valentino’s saliva. Yeah I think it’s safe to say that not only is he the one of the most cruel and evil Overlords and sinners in Hell, but he might very well be the most dangerous of the Vees, even more so than Vox. If Val infuriates you the way he does that makes him a great villain and Viv and the rest of her crew did their jobs well. Much lighter-hearted fact, Val actually squeaks when he moves sometimes like how real Moths do. If you go back to the previous episodes and listen closely you can hear squeaking in any scene he’s in.
I admire how this show touches on how being hypersexual is a way certain people cope with abuse and trauma. Obviously, people's experiences and responses vary based on personality and circumstances but understanding the various ways it happens I think is important. I also like how Loser Baby's message isn't "don't worry, everything will be ok" and instead s "yeah, life sucks, it's hard and it will put you down but there are others that share your experiences who you can talk to if you wish."
In case you were wondering, the album version of Loser Baby does actually does finish the song. You can find it on spotify, youtube music, or wherever else.
I'm glad someone made the choice to have Keith David sing his song in an episode this heavy. The lightheartedness of the song and Husk's genuine attempt at cheering Angel up really help in making the episode not too heavy, because without it it would have felt much different.
26:46 Good news on that front. The official soundtrack for Hazbin does actually resolve the final note of Loser Baby. So closure is just one listen away
@@valentinkambushev4968 it's a thing of personal attachment- we know Angel, so whatever horrible thing Val does to him feels alot more personal (and the fact the go out of their way to SHOW IT) than Vox shooting randos off camera.
@@alejandradasilva1999 Vox knows what Val does and supports it tho, he even finances it and watches the abuse happen bc his cameras were all over angel's dressing room, so I think he should get some of the hate too, it's hipocrisy to hate on Val and love Vox, they are the same (except I'm pretty sure Vox is worse, i did so many analysis on him, hopefully next season shows better this darker side of him).
But can we all agree we need to see the plot ideas Charlie would pitch? I bet it would be the cutest, squishiest, fluffiest filth anyone's ever filmed.
Poison and Loser Baby are both stellar songs. Just shows both Angel Dust and Husk accepting their worst parts and remembering what their best parts are as well. 🥹💜
Val's hatred is on par to the pink teacher from Harry Potter but despite how much everyone hates him, he has probably some of the funniest lines in the entire show! The actor and writers deserve recognition! XD
What I loved about both the songs in this episode was their use of contrast. They were each almost paradoxical; Poison makes you want to dance and cry at the same time, and Loser Baby is a heartwarming pep-talk song featuring the phrase "coked-up d*ck-sucking ho." Really impressed that they managed to balance on both of those lines. Hats off to the writers 👏
18:53 actually even though you are right about hell, the sinners only live in the pride ring because other lords of hell/the seven deadly sins most likely banned them from their rings because of how much chaos they cause to their invorimant.
Another hat I'd like to throw into the ring: they're stuck there not as a policy decision, but because that's where Lucifer is, and whatever process it is that controls where sinners go seems pretty big on the of "you made your bed, now lie in it"
I know they cut off Loser Baby’s final note as a joke in the episode, but honestly, it kills me not to have that resolution. Thankfully, you can find the full uncut version of the song online. That last “me,” is so satisfying
The rings of Hell work differently than the circles of Hell of Dante's Inferno. For starters... they are seven, each named after the Deadly Sins. Second, all sinners (the damned human souls) are confined to only one ring, Pride, no matter the sin(s) that drove them there. The other six rings can only be accessed by the hellborn kind, the demons born in Hell like Charlie and, interestingly, they are actually not that bad (for most part). Like... Gluttony and Lust really embody a more "positive" side to them, being more focused on indulgence and gratification, than self-destruction, adultery and r*pe. Unfortunately, because Hazbin Hotel focuses on redemption and sinner demons, we only get to see the Pride Ring. The only way to get to know the other rings is by watching Helluva Boss, Hazbin Hotel's sister show.
I wish sinners were spread throughout the rings. I get that Viv needed space for Helluva Boss, but still. Also, I still can't get over the fact that (according to Viv) only three of the Seven Deadly Sins are bad people. Viv, THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE WORST OF THE WORST!!!!
@@valentinkambushev4968 Wait... three of them... I mean, Mammon clearly is... but does that mean that two of the three sins left are bad people? I just hope it's not Satan... I would love to have him be like this tough-looking uncle for Charlie that actually cares a lot about her, despite not showing it, and is overprotective.
@@AE_15x And yet they made the sin of LUST a dedicated boyfriend and the sin of GLUTTONY a party girl. Wrath is just a multiplied version of anger. Even if this sin is the source of vengence, it is not exactly a bad thing when tamed. But, with Greed, it's a little hard to make that sin enjoyable when its meaning is literally to have more than what one has. I think only Envy would be a good second villainous sin, since its meaning is to desire something someone else has or be like them.
A theory is that Lucifer confined sinners to the Pride ring due to them taking advantage of their immortality in the other rings, in addition to the extermination being more difficult if the sinners were spread out on the other rings.
16:51 thats not how it works in the Helluva verse, Earth Born demons are confined to the pride ring, the other six rings are run by the other 7 deadly sins and each ring as its own Hellborn species
Judging by their surprise at how well Husk fought at the end, I think they missed (or at least missed the implications of) the fact that Husk told Angel he used to be an Overlord. Episode 3 showed a meeting of Overlords (the most powerful human souls in Hell), and while Husk was almost certainly much weaker than them, he was still an Overlord.
Husk specifically says that despite no longer seeming to own souls himself, the deal mentioned (including in the song) was to retain the spiritual power level he had at the time of entering Alastor's service. It's just that Alastor has a lot more anyways.
I haven't watched this episode in a relative while, and I've been on edge lately due to work/financial anxieties, so watching this with you got me literally crying. "Maybe if I end up broken, I won't be his favorite toy anymore, and he'll let me go" is one of the hardest lines to hear in anything I've ever watched. Ugh.
I hadn't known that's why Angel also acts that way when flirting with other guys. I thought it was a mixture of masking and because he's attracted to them. It makes sense that it gives him a semblance of autonomy
If it's any consolation, the soundtrack version of 'Loser, Baby' does resolve that final note, and it is just as sweet and wholesome as you suspected it would be.
What some people (haters) dont understand about "Loser, Baby", is that it isnt glorifying drug and sexual abuse (sex and drugs and gambling is okay because other people do it)-- it's accepting that you are a victim and that you've made mistakes; but that doesn't mean that you're a bad person or deserve the bad things that happen to you. It might feel like the end of the world, but it's not. You can find people who support you and love you and will help you get better, if only you'll be honest to yourself and let people in. There is hope.
this!! they see the theme of the episode as a whole and think "why is this in here, this isnt necessary, theyre glamorizing abuse". this is such an interesting theme to have, especially with an important character such as angel.. we go through it with him and see the depth of it and we will learn more in season 2 i assume. but having such a dark theme and then husks character coming in; put it into the perspective of someone in real life going through anything remotely like angel and seeing how he gets that support even if its just a cartoon, it can open your eyes. even people who havent gone through that, its such an important topic to be aware of, because its a real thing and stuff like this happens. i love how you put the song into perspective :)
You’ve actually seen Charlie start to go demon mode a couple times. In the first episode during Adam’s song, and then when her commercial was cut off by the broadcast. And then in the pilot you also saw it a couple times, mostly during the beginning song and then during Inside of Every Demon is a Rainbow. I do appreciate that Charlie realized she overstepped by interfering with Angel’s work.
i think its come out that the pilot isnt 100% canon anymore and viv wanted it to be switched up. so we dont see the pilot as an actual part of the show, just a cool introductory
@@p1x.x1 It's soft canon. I mean, the first episode references how Alastor just showed up at their door step and stuff. Also there's the stuff with Sir Pentious and Cherry. I also just choose to believe that Killjoy and Charlie got into a fight on live tv because it's fun.
The way this hell works is at each of the deadly sins have their own level and each one is run by a different demon. Pride - Ruler: Lucifer - Featured in Hazbin Hotel & Helluva Boss (Only ring where Mortal Sinners may reside) Wrath - Ruler: Satan (Mentioned) - Featured in Helluva Boss - Home of the Imps Gluttony - Ruler: Beezlebub - Featured in Helluva Boss - Home of the Hellhounds Greed - Ruler: Mammon - Featured in Helluva Boss - Home of the Loansharks/Dinosaur Demons Lust - Ruler: Asmodeus - Featured in Helluva Boss - Home of the Succubi/Inccubi Envy - Ruler: Leviathan (Theorized) - Not Seen Yet - Home of the Deep Sea Demons (Theorized) Sloth - Ruler: Belphegor (Mentioned) - Featured in Helluva Boss - Home of the Baphomet Demons These other types of demons can be seen periodically in Hazbin Hotel as background characters as they have the consistent traits between their species, unlike the Mortal Sinners whos appearences can drastically change. It is also brought up in Helluva Boss in that the lower ring demons are progressively higher class than the previous with Imps and Hellhounds being the lowest castes. Also: Only Mortal Sinners come back to life when killed in Hell, as they can only be killed permantly by Angelic Weapons. Natural Hellborn demons just straight up die.
which does bring up something...we all know we are going to see satan in one of the next 3 episodes of helluva boss, but...what we've seen of the october episode in the trailers seems to focus heavily on the fish demons. I wonder if we may see leviathan there, maybe the fishman John Waters is playing is leviathan moonlighting as a hotel manager on earth? I suppose we'll find out in the next week or so.
@@bryanmoberg8408 Hard to say while I do think we'll see the three eventually (Belphegor, Leviathan, Satan) I can't determine which of the 3 would pop up first.
12:57 "It feels like somewhere, someplace, this is happening." Yes, that exact scene (minus magical collar, leash, and contract) happened to me, years ago. And I'm sure it's happening to someone right now. It is a very realistic depiction of domestic violence. It's quite surreal watching other people watch that and react to it with horror.
Sheesh, I just noticed something I missed. It's super quick, but at 14:40 Kitty the Fizzbot flinches from being hit with the cigarette butt thrown from Val. So they can feel??? How sentient are they??? Do they see themselves as Fizz or as robots??? I have so many question...
Montana is such a Genius to the human Heart... I believe she has a psychology major/background (hell, an interest at least!) And here breakdowns and analysis are ALWAYS what makes their reactions special to me. I love how she called it. My mother was a victim of several things growing up, including special abuse. While she never came off as promiscuous or as a slut, she had the opposite response, where she was heavily guarded and almost untouchable for most of my life. I later dated a chick who had a similar background, and it was HER inability to accept herself and her past that ultimately ended things between us. She had been in a situation where a bf had let a friend have his way with her as he watched and encouraged it to happen. Of course, her body enjoyed it, but her psyche was like "NOOO!!!" the whole time. So, while she grew to realized she liked rougher intercourse... She also couldn't separate the pleasure from the trauma... 😢
Val's voice actor did a phenomenal job at playing an irredeemable monster. He was so effective in his performance, in fact, that people were harassing him online because they hated Valentino so much.
Angel has always been my favorite ever since the pilot was aired and I'm so happy we got this episode. His friends know about what he's going through and are there for him.
I think a big part of the hypersexualization trauma response is an unconscious attempt to reduce the perceived 'value' of what's being taken. If sex can be made into a mundane, casual thing, then maybe it won't feel like such a terrible exploitation. Like, if I'm sleeping with everyone, then this one guy that I hate isn't as special or scary. It's the equivalent of having a flat tire, and instead of trying to replace that tire (maybe you don't have a tire, or a way to get a tire, insert metaphor here), you flatten the other three tires to make the first one stand out less.
Hell yeah, the Hell's Greatest Dad is coming to town next week! 🔥 can't wait for Kenny to freak out about Jeremy Jordan and Montana to love Lucifer & Charlie's Father/Daughter duo.
I know that Arcane season two is right after this, and as much as I would LOVE for you guys to check out Legend of Vox Machina after, I feel ai should tell you that Invincible season three is coming in February, so you'd probably want that to be next.
Angel has glorified his life from a far towards Charlie and others, but as soon as he saw her walk into his life, he instantly went into panic mode and tired to get her out and away from their as quickly as possible
a cool little detail i noticed when charlie started the fire is how even through the danger and chaos of the fire that was creeping towards angel, he was more scared of val and thats what his focus was on. i think that really just shows how cruel val is to the extent that angel wont give FIRE a second glance when he is in the vicinity. also when angel is in his pink outfit and dancing at val in the song, it goes by really quick but you can see val ripping off angels spider abdomen(?), a literal part of his body.. and we hear the ripping sound before the scenery changes. these two details get skipped over in most of these reactions but i think theyre worth pointing out
This episode is heartbreak pure and simple. Poison is either my favorite song or 2nd favorite next to Stayed Gone. Loser, baby is also fantastic . I think we’re at the point where every song for me lands and not one per episode like the last two. From what I’ve heard, Vivzie based the Val and Angel dynamic on a toxic relationship she was once in. And I think it’s illegal to NOT hate Valentino in 47 states. (Even if I still find his dynamic with Vox in episode 2 genuinely hilarious) I think Charlie’s position in this is underappreciated in how BADLY she wanted to help but was in the WORST place to be offering. Toxic relationships infect EVERYTHING that surrounds it and it is the WORST knowing how bad something is with no position to help or get involved and stop the mess. Whoof this episode is nothing but pain.
God I love Valentino, he’s the first time the show has shown someone being truly frightening and menacing. Everyone else from Adam to Alastor has always been more lighthearted and comedic even when shown to be scary. Arguably Valentino isn’t even that bad compared to some others we’ve seen but the show does their best to show him in a serious light.
I think one of the main factors that make him so scary is that he's the most realistic one. Someone who does the kind of things Adam and Alastor (can) do doesn't really exist but you can practically guarantee that a Valentino exists doing the very things we see here (minus the literal soul selling stuff of course).
Well as a person his terrible but as a villain he is incredible and he has one of the best designs in the show. Can't wait to see him in his demon form (i hope he has it) and in action too.
18:35 Best explanation of this scene I've ever heard. Husker doesn't understand what he's saying, and Angel doesn't fully understand why it hurts to hear.
The reason why Husk is so strong is because he was an overlord before, like he said before the song. Other overlords are: Alastor The Vs Carmine, Zestiel and the others from episode 3
I swear, one of my favorite aspects of Hazbin Hotel is the way that the songs reflect the relationships within them!! Every character has their own genre and instrumentation (e.g. Velvette with her pop beats vs Carmilla with her Spanish guitar vs Alastor with his swing instruments), and it's fascinating to listen to the "conversation" between the genres as the characters interact. (Comment ahead regarding Episode 5, which you will have already watched so it's not a spoiler for you): I find Hell's Greatest Dad particularly interesting in that regard, since I think it's the only song where a "battle" is taking place but the instrumentation doesn't change, aside from that one accordion part and Mimzy's entrance! Considering Lucifer and Alastor's "divorced at first sight" energy, I do find it interesting how in agreement the music itself is. XD
Something interesting about loser baby is that The point of the somg is to make Angel realize that he is not defined by his flaws You have to accept that you have a probelm before you can fix yourself and love yourself And the song is about helping Angel see he's not only not alone in this But that his flaws are not who he is they are just features That he can work on.
that one annoys me to no end, at least the alternate spotify/soundtrack version of loser baby DOES resolve that final note in place of the sharks attacking, hells greatest dad does not get so lucky.
So in this universe, ALL sinners are in the Pride Ring, and hellborn demons live in the other rings. For example Succubi are from the Lust Ring. Sinners can’t leave the Pride Ring.
Btw interesting fact about Loser Baby is it shows Husk and Angel both tied in glowing rope. And the glowing rope is incredibly significant as it represents the contract that each of them signed selling their souls to Val and Alastor. And the thing is this rope really highlights the personality of the owner of their souls and the power of the contract. Angel is tied in an incredibly lose haphazardly thrown together rope that easily falls apart. This shows that Val doesn't think things through, he acts without thought solely on impulse, and just throws contracts together without thought. This also suggests contracts with him are easy to get out of because of this. On the other hand Husk's rope is incredibly tight and expertly tied so it's hard to get out of. This shows how precise and well thought out Alastor is, he waits until the perfect moment and if he does do something he does he it right. His contracts are iron clad and unbreakable because he will not give you any room to escape. Alastor shows this about him really well in the song Stayed Gone in e2. Alastor after being gone for 7 years has been back for a few months at that point and yet never made any move of any kind towards Vox. He completely ignored Vox's existence. Vox on the other hand instantly reacted when he learned Alastor was back and started taking shots at him and it was only then did Alastor make any kind of move. And the move Alastor made was expertly done to show that he was the one in charge, that he was the dominant one, and made Vox look like a joke.
well said! i had known the ropes meant the contracts that they were both tied to, but i hadnt thought about how they were done. that makes so much sense!
I swear to you all Charlie before she was lucifers daughter had a Dogs soul cause I swear both in the Pilot and this episode she always looks like a puppy. And it’s fuckin adorable.
There are 2 ponits that I think you may have missed: Angel signed the contract as ♡Anthony, so yeah, that's his REAL name And Husk also stated that he was an Overlord who sold his soul to keep his power
I know I'm pretty early but, you guys should definitely check out Helluva Boss next. It's set in the same universe (same creator), and has much of the same great character work ... and lore. For HH, we're trapped in the Pride ring with the sinners, in HB we get to see more of Hell and more of the hellborn citizens - like Charlie.
and they love alex brightman, so they'll love fizz, they also called out zestial's voice actor earlier, and he voices ozzy. And as fun as them reacting to some of the songs etc in helluva boss would be, watching the suffer through the glorious cringe insanity of operation weeabooboo would be comedy gold.
Im just gonna copy-paste (most of) what i commented on another video a long while back: There was not a single moment in this entire show that Val was on screen where i wished any other character was taking up my time instead. So perfectly hateable, unhinged, intimidating, an incredible character design and voice actor, and he is just so sassy!~ Favorite character hands-down.
Joel does such a good job as valentino's voice actor, no one else couldve filled that role and given the same effect in my opinion, especially because he was the one that improvised his ethnic roots. very cool detail
The rings actually work differently in the hellaverse. It is correct that they live in the pride ring and Hazbin takes place there, but the pride ring only represents sinners ( people who were humans and died ). Sinners aren’t allowed to leave the pride ring but Hellborne (Imps, Incubi, Baphomet, etc) can travel freely between all rings. There are 7 rings, each representing a deadly sin and each run by a demon who is the embodiment of that sin. Lucifer is the head of all of hell, as well as the pride ring. Wrath is where a lot of the show Helluva Boss takes place, and is where most Imps are from. It has a countryside western style environment. In this rendition of Abrahamic mythology, Satan is actually the leader of Wrath and not the same as Lucifer. Lust is mostly city and the head is named Asmodeus, or Ozzie for short. He’s one of my personal favorite characters from Helluva boss. The hellborne from lust are the Succubi/Incubi. Gluttony is pretty unexplored but it is led by Beelzebub, or queen Bee. The hellborne from Gluttony are Hellhounds. Envy is entirely unshown but we know it’s underwater and is led by Leviathan. The hellborne from envy are fish demons. Greed is run by Mammon. The hellborne of greed are Loansharks/ reptiles. Sloth has Belphegor, and the hellborne there are Baphomet, or goat/deer demons. There’s is also a hierarchy system of all beings in the afterlife (my interpretation) 1. Arch angel Michael (I assume there isn’t a god) 2. The Seraphim 3. Lucifer 4. Charlie and Lilith 5. The seven deadly sins 6. Ars Goetia family 7. Exterminators (Adam, Lute) 8. Overlords of hell 9. Winners (human souls in heaven) 10. Heaven born (Cherubs) 11. Sinners 12. Most hellborne 13. Imps 14. Hellhounds
shame we only have 4 more episodes, though if they do helluva boss that should cover the gap till season 2 of hazbin, which is probably coming around feb/march after season 2 of helluva boss ends in december.
If you want to find out about the rings of hell you should watch hellava boss...it's in the same universe and truly fleshes out hell Also, the gluttony ring is tons of fun...it just focuses on excess...in every facet
Deals in Hell are absolute. I think not even royalty have the power to undo them. The only way for a deal to be broken is for both parts to agree on it. And since Valentino doesn't want to let Angel go, their deal won't break. And the terms of a deal really depends on what both parts have agree on, which can create loopholes the one in disadvantage can explore. In Angel's case, the loophole in his deal is exactly the reason why Valentino was so upset he moved out of the Vees' Tower to the hotel. The power Valentino has on him only applies inside the studio. Even if the contract forces Angel to work for Val, the former is free to do whatever he wants as long he is out of the studio.
Well just kill Valentino then, surely if owner of deals will die the victims will be free. I think only highest creatures of hazbin's universe can break deals like god or evil.
@@Saba-tt7xf given val is a sinner too, as all overlords are, I'm not actually sure they can kill him permanently, though the angels in the next purge might be able to. That said, we do know for a fact that death breaks a contract.
@@bryanmoberg8408 well angelic weapons killed Adam soo it should be able to kill Valentino permanently. But i have a really bad and kinda good felling that lute will make a deal with the Vees for revenge, but I'm interested how they will deal with Lucifer considering the fact that he can wipe out all of them by himself.
To clarify the circles of hell yes it takes place in the pride ring but sinners can only be in that ring only hell born (imps and hellhounds) can travel between rings which is explored in a different series in the same world called Hellva Boss which is on UA-cam
It’s a difficult topic for a lot of people to discuss, whether in past traumas, current, experiencing through somebody loved, or just being sensitive to those hard hitting things.
to clarify: in Dante's inferno the deeper a circle is, the worst the sin is (tho the 9 circles are based on different sins than the classic 7 sins) but in Hazbin Hotel the various circle are juste different places with different inhabitant, Pride is the circle of the sinners so any human soul that go to hell will be in the Pride circle, no matter the sin
Welcome to the Val hating circle. Before, when there was only the pilot, everyone was watching comics and fan made content, and all just built the hatred towards wanting the end for Valentino. If you are interested look at ParanoidDJ who made a lot of contents for this and Helluwa Boss. Dirty Healings (spell check) is an official comic about Angel's backstory, dubbed by ParanoidDJ. Or look for songs about Angel. Some are very hurtfull for the soul but good songs. There's an official comic about Alastor as well.
When talking about the layers of Hell and the Sins they represent, the lore that Vivzie pulls from is specifically from Renaissance texts, there are multiple variations and interpretations, this is just one of them.
next full epsiode should be any day now, they said october, only 8 days left, apology tour was phenomenal, so I have high hopes. Plus, we get john waters in the next one, and I love that weirdo
16:28 yes there are a lot of lore your not aware of, but this is NOT the lust ring, the Vox base is actually just another area of the pentagram in the Pride ring. The Sinners (demons that were once human) cant leave the pride ring, as they are Lucifer's punishment, if yall want to get to know more about this universe and its other rings and primal demons, I suggets you to watch Helluva Boss, its made by the same person and explores more of the other rings

Poison actually charted in multiple countries when it came out. The songs in this show are on another level.
True and I have to tell you. if You see a boxing ball as Valentinos face you will be suprised of just how many combos you can throw in just a few pieces of lyrics of this song.
Valentino: *Hurts Angel*
Entire Fandom: "So, you have chosen death."
I've said it many times before, death is unnaceptable, torture, and let bleed out.
(Yes i know it would work on him.)
@@echostar7395 I wasn't saying if Val dies Angel dies too. If Val dies I would assume Angel's probably free.
Yeah, the show and its sister really like to play with the words "coming" and "c**ming".
Fun fact, that's Joel Perez's favorite Valentino line.
"Why is Husk cracked?"
Well, he was an overlord once lol
they were talking about something else during that line and didn't really address it, i wonder if they missed that reveal.
I used to be an overlord too, but I took an arrow in the knee...
It's heartbreaking how Angel was so much more scared for Charlie than for himself. You tell he only kicked her out to protect her. He really does care.
it was kind of plot hole, since val cant do anything to charlie but its fine, at leas it adds to angel character
@@denjiiiyttyooo244 What wanderkindhatter said. Its realy not a plothole.
@@wanderkindhatter6798Exactly! Besides, Val completely underestimates Charlie and knows Angel won't let her hurt him.
The voice cracks at the end of Poison kill me every time 😭
Same here 😢
Blake Roman freaking killed it this episode
"Loser, Baby" is such a fantastic song. Keith David and Blake Roman have great voices, and I love the message. It's not your usual, "cheer up, things will get better" song. It's more realistic. Yeah, Angel's life is screwed up, but at least he's not alone. He now has someone who understands that he can confide in.
The sound that speaks to my heart the most is "more than anything" with her dad, but yes you are a loser has a very beautiful message,
While it might be a kind gesture to tell someone that everything will be fine, it can also ring kind of hollow and create false expectations since you know deep down inside your heart that things will stay bad for god knows how long.
@@IceMetalPunk Yeah, denial is very rarely a good solution and it should always only be temporary.
once, years ago, somebody thanked me for genuinely listening to them when they told me things, and sitting in the emotion with them rather than immediately trying to cheer them up instead. it stuck with me so much. sometimes all people need is somebody who gets it, or is willing to try and get it.
(And the “love potion” is based on Val’s spit, which he slathered all over Charlie’s arm…)
Val saying this in Episode 2 supports this fact as well… “Just put something inside them, that’s how I get the bitches to behave.”
Furthermore that Loan Shark who tried to spike Angel’s drink had a love potion, that love potion was actually made by Velvette, another one of the Vees by using Valentino’s saliva.
"What they're faking is not being a victim" is the perfect way to summarize Angel's act, wish I'd thought of it. :)
Am I the only one who thinks the interrupted finish is the superior ending? :)

I'm glad someone made the choice to have Keith David sing his song in an episode this heavy. The lightheartedness of the song and Husk's genuine attempt at cheering Angel up really help in making the episode not too heavy, because without it it would have felt much different.

Yeah, especially considering the script she wrote for Angel and Sir Pentious in Scrambled Eggs
It was very touching/heartbreaking to see how scared for Charlie Angel Dust was, he really loves his friend. 😢

That last “me,” is so satisfying

your discussion breaks are so insightful! keep it going
@@rafaelmatos5851frick no, if SIN OF WRATH is also a good guy then it will be annoying as hell, like then Mammon will be the only actual sin
"A loser, just, like, meeeeee..." is resolved perfectly on the OST 😉
"Poison" is the hardest song for me to watch in this show for all the right reasons. And it makes me love "Loser Baby" even more.
Poison breaks you so Loser, Baby can build you back up.
21:15 by the way. I recommend comic backstory. It is with voice on UA-cam. It is called "Dirty healings". More about Charlie and Vaggie vs Angel
It’s such a small thing but I love the way you can tell Vox doesn’t like angel, he doesn’t like how much of Val’s attention he gets.
I made a friend over shared religious trauma. It's an easy to relate to song
this!! they see the theme of the episode as a whole and think "why is this in here, this isnt necessary, theyre glamorizing abuse". this is such an interesting theme to have, especially with an important character such as angel.. we go through it with him and see the depth of it and we will learn more in season 2 i assume. but having such a dark theme and then husks character coming in; put it into the perspective of someone in real life going through anything remotely like angel and seeing how he gets that support even if its just a cartoon, it can open your eyes. even people who havent gone through that, its such an important topic to be aware of, because its a real thing and stuff like this happens. i love how you put the song into perspective :)
Loser baby also is Husks way of telling Angel that he's not alone and that someone else knows what he's going through
"Poison" has _no right_ to be such a godsdamn banger. And yet here it is, probably the best song of the whole season.
I didn't know that Angel being bothered by Husk calling him fake was him not liking that Husk is recognizes him as a victim of abuse
I don't think Husk recognized that at all, but that's how Angel interprets being called fake.

I do appreciate that Charlie realized she overstepped by interfering with Angel’s work.
yes i think a lot of people miss that and think this is the first time she's shown using her demon form.
i think its come out that the pilot isnt 100% canon anymore and viv wanted it to be switched up. so we dont see the pilot as an actual part of the show, just a cool introductory

I love Joel so much, incredible voice actor, silly little guy. Unfair that he got the hate though
Yeah this episode is something 😢. But really good. Loser is also my favorite song❤

(Even if I still find his dynamic with Vox in episode 2 genuinely hilarious)
I think Charlie’s position in this is underappreciated in how BADLY she wanted to help but was in the WORST place to be offering.

Other overlords are:
Alastor
The Vs
Carmine, Zestiel and the others from episode 3
XD
Something interesting about loser baby is that
The point of the somg is to make Angel realize that he is not defined by his flaws
You have to accept that you have a probelm before you can fix yourself and love yourself
And the song is about helping Angel see he's not only not alone in this
But that his flaws are not who he is they are just features
That he can work on.
“They didn’t resolve that final note.”
Oh, get ready for what they do to Hell’s Greatest Dad.
that one annoys me to no end, at least the alternate spotify/soundtrack version of loser baby DOES resolve that final note in place of the sharks attacking, hells greatest dad does not get so lucky.
mimzy... number one opp.
And it’s fuckin adorable.
poison is such a powerful song. my gosh :(
There are 2 ponits that I think you may have missed:
Angel signed the contract as ♡Anthony, so yeah, that's his REAL name
And Husk also stated that he was an Overlord who sold his soul to keep his power
Just so you know, the full song for "Loser Baby" is in fact on Spotify. 🎶"Me"🎶 and all 😁
Im just gonna copy-paste (most of) what i commented on another video a long while back:
There was not a single moment in this entire show that Val was on screen where i wished any other character was taking up my time instead.
So perfectly hateable, unhinged, intimidating, an incredible character design and voice actor, and he is just so sassy!~
Favorite character hands-down.
Joel does such a good job as valentino's voice actor, no one else couldve filled that role and given the same effect in my opinion, especially because he was the one that improvised his ethnic roots. very cool detail
idk if you missed it or not.. but important lore drop: Husk was an overlord once..
There’s is also a hierarchy system of all beings in the afterlife (my interpretation)
1. Arch angel Michael (I assume there isn’t a god)
2. The Seraphim
3. Lucifer
4. Charlie and Lilith
5. The seven deadly sins
6. Ars Goetia family
7. Exterminators (Adam, Lute)
8. Overlords of hell
9. Winners (human souls in heaven)
10. Heaven born (Cherubs)
11. Sinners
12. Most hellborne
13. Imps
14. Hellhounds
Vivienne confirms Huskerdust shipping to come in future season(s)!
I’m so ready for the two best songs of the season let’s go
All the sinners are stuck in the Pirde ring, only Hellborns can move between the relms
17:05 it is more about that Lucifer made sinners, so he should take care of them. So sinners on his territory
As excited as I was to see the premier notification, now I don’t know if I’m emotionally prepared for this 😢
this episode was hard to watch especially when Angel is being treated badly by Val but luckily Charlie cares about him deeply
11:32 charlie could wipe out most if not all of Hell if she really wanted to, so Valentino isn’t much of a threat
This series should be twice a week is so good
shame we only have 4 more episodes, though if they do helluva boss that should cover the gap till season 2 of hazbin, which is probably coming around feb/march after season 2 of helluva boss ends in december.
If you want to find out about the rings of hell you should watch hellava boss...it's in the same universe and truly fleshes out hell
Also, the gluttony ring is tons of fun...it just focuses on excess...in every facet
Valentino is tied with another character for my second favorite character spot 😂
Man this is going to hurt
To clarify the circles of hell yes it takes place in the pride ring but sinners can only be in that ring only hell born (imps and hellhounds) can travel between rings which is explored in a different series in the same world called Hellva Boss which is on UA-cam
13:28 am I insane or is her breathing shaky?
It’s a difficult topic for a lot of people to discuss, whether in past traumas, current, experiencing through somebody loved, or just being sensitive to those hard hitting things.
@@chillsmusic8982 Yeah it’s sad :(
to clarify: in Dante's inferno the deeper a circle is, the worst the sin is (tho the 9 circles are based on different sins than the classic 7 sins)
but in Hazbin Hotel the various circle are juste different places with different inhabitant, Pride is the circle of the sinners so any human soul that go to hell will be in the Pride circle, no matter the sin
After Arcane this is my favorite show in the last years. Helluva Boss is close as well, the latest episodes killed me inside...
next full epsiode should be any day now, they said october, only 8 days left, apology tour was phenomenal, so I have high hopes. Plus, we get john waters in the next one, and I love that weirdo
@@bryanmoberg8408 i hope the episode will be not as gutwrenching, I was literally feeling depressed for weeks after the last one.
"you didnt know" is the best song
without a doubt
Should totally check out addict for more about angel dust. It even uses the og voice actor
This is my favorite episode but definitely the hardest to watch
16:28 yes there are a lot of lore your not aware of, but this is NOT the lust ring, the Vox base is actually just another area of the pentagram in the Pride ring.
The Sinners (demons that were once human) cant leave the pride ring, as they are Lucifer's punishment, if yall want to get to know more about this universe and its other rings and primal demons, I suggets you to watch Helluva Boss, its made by the same person and explores more of the other rings
All the songs are available on Amazon, and the Loser song is complete and uninterrupted on there.
