I've made two videos about d:Matcha (2022 ua-cam.com/video/LEh697_p79I/v-deo.htmlsi=04-BJ8WECuAXuXI_ ) and (2019 ua-cam.com/video/S04_KBC8mIA/v-deo.htmlsi=i2c6Ot8273BqkWkU ). I wanted to see how the plans for the new shop, guest house, and facilities in Yubune came along. Thanks to Daiki-san and everyone at d:Matcha for hosting us and providing food and shelter! And because people will ask, the link for d:Matcha is dmatcha.com/
Aside from the obvious beauty of the surroundings, I was fascinated by the efficient use of the interior space and the diversification of products and services. This design and development of the complex must have taken many hours to bring to this level.
I am so glad that you went back here. Your first video inspired me to check out this whole region. The last time I was in Japan I rented a bike with my daughter and we biked all Wazuka. It also inspired us to do a bike tour of Kyoto. Thanks Greg I was so curious how this guy was going to do in his business venture!
Great to see an update and to see that things are progressing really positively. The restoration of the guest house is fantastic, what a brilliant place to spend a night or nights relaxing. That meal looked absolutely delicious, I love that they are combining local produce and herbs, etc as well. Thank you for sharing this excellent video Greg, best wishes
This is a wonderful area and it certainly is inspiring to see how Daiki-san is making the most of the location. I wish him great success in the future with his endeavors and pray that this town gets the uplift it needs.
We went to d:matcha last May and we had a wonderful experience learning about tea processing and eating tea-infused dishes! Fell in love with their hojicha cookies 😋 The travel was so worth it!
I stopped at d:Matcha in May this year and enjoyed a matcha parfait right by the window overlooking the fields. A precious memory from my bicycle tour through Kansai. Look forward to visiting again someday and spending a few nights!
Funny story, I was just at d:matcha for a plantation tour 4 weeks ago, and it was through your video about Wazuka the tea town that inspired me to go. Super happy you were able to go back and see Daiki his new projects! I was forunate to have meet some of the tea interns/business students working on tea moon and thought to myself wow it would be great if you could do a more indepth video about it. Thanks for the great video as always Greg!
What an awesome follow-up. I'm glad to see he is doing well, and that is a beautiful guest house and business. I'd enjoy more of these follow-ups. Please.
OMG I am immensely intrigued by this series and I really like all the changes, upgrades and small tweaks here and there at the facility. Also, that is a beautiful guest house and it somehow reminds me of the house in My Neighbor Totoro
happy to know that they are thriving. I hope they continue to make a difference in the life of the people in their community. thank you for this feature
Greg, God bless you and all the hard work you and your family plus the team which helps you along the way. I want to thank you for the video and you updating the tea family( you know what I mean, LOL)I really enjoy how you put all this together. I hope to see something with a video with what College Student's are doing for our future. I pray you could explore that world of the next generation of young people who will make a lot of changes throughout our and thier future. God speed and see you one day. Peace 😊
Genuinely super chuffed to see this guy and his business doing well c: Thank you for the follow up after a bit of a while and thanks for putting a spotlight onto the business and region :D
Thanks on the nice video. Have to stay a night or 2 next year at this place when we do our few months road trip around Japan. Never been to Nara area at all, even if was already 7x in Japan. 😅 Keep up the work of off the beaten path and no tourist places.
14:33 what kind of tree was this again Greg? Wondering if it's the same thing I ate when I stayed at one of the Onsen town in the Kansai region. One of the meals had this thing in it among other vegetables and it didn't taste so much spicy to me but it gives off a tingling sensation akin to numbness. P.S: Dam that dinner meal looks good
really happy to see follow up videos. in contrast to paolo from tokyo, yours is much more imtimate and close and real. seeing how things evolve is really nice
Old (even very large) houses in India had these doors which are very low. The idea was you will bend your head as if you are bowing to the house awhile you enter. May be similar idea in Japanese culture too? 🤔
I'm basically back and forth between Canada and Japan. That being said, this was shot in early June 2023. I have a backlog of videos shot in the spring of 2023 that I won't be finished editing for another 6 months.
